Re-inventing the boyband as hormone-charged pop-punks

“Boybands and another one and another one and another one”. That vision of the future within Busted’s “Year 3000” already rang true when their debut emerged in 2002. With refreshing wit, megawatt tunes, and fizzy riffs, it reclaims British pop from the glut of overwrought covers acts by lusting after teachers (“What I Go to School For”) and trawling for pop-star porn (“Britney”). Even orchestral ballad “Psycho Girl” avoids soppiness with tongue-in-cheek reflections on a girlfriend’s unreasonable behaviour.
