Few guitar-pop debuts come with such winning confidence and inviting tunes

Few guitar-pop debuts come with such winning confidence and inviting tunes. The Brighton quartet aren’t re-inventing music as they island hop between campfire folk, post-punk, skiffle, and jangling indie but they cut their classicism with enough winsome melody and optimistic energy to sound consistently boxfresh. Gambolling, lovestruck indie-pop (“She Moves In Her Own Way”) and itchy rock (“Naive”, “See the World”) is where they excel but intimate acoustic opener “Seaside” best betrays their precocious assurance.
