Thanks for making me laugh 😂
Comedian Lee Mack has long had an interest in Buddhism, mindfulness and the possibility of leading a more spiritual life. After a few years of dabbling in meditation, he feels the time has come to decide once and for all whether he should seriously seek spiritual enlightenment.
‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Buddha’ is a new podcast which finds Lee and his friend Neil taking their first (often clumsy) steps on the road to Nirvana.
From picking which type of Buddhism to follow, to contemplating what a woodland creature would say to you if you asked it the time; Lee and Neil explore the principles and practices of Buddhism in a way that spiritual practice has never been explored before… Possibly for very good reason.
Make sure you subscribe and leave a review!

Absolutely brilliant! Funny and light hearted just what I needed right now. Thanks guys 😆
I really enjoy Lee’s comedy work and am also interested in buddhism so I was thrilled when my friend told me that he had done a podcast. He says it’s about his spiritual journey. I feel like it’s taking the piss, OK it does us all good to not take ourselves seriously. But if Lee really does want to follow Zen he needs to read the Suzuki book, not just the first 10 pages and find a teacher. Join a zen group, leave your ego at the door and you will be made welcome.
I was recommended this podcast by a friend and I can say I wasn’t disappointed!!!
It’s brilliant! They seem to perfectly balance humour with philosophy, you find yourself laughing out loud to a quote then deeply contemplating what they just said! It’s brilliant, very very clever!
I have ordered the book for myself as I feel I wanted to explore ways to relax and steady my own mind!
So i feel because Lee is a very down to earth tv presenter and a clear favourite of mine, I like the way they say it’s something they can get to grips with and I can relate to that.
So over all I absolutely love the podcast and will be passing on the love to friends far and wide!
Keep up the good work!
Please can I join you when you finally decide to go on retreat? I really need to slip into the warm bath of silly laughter right now. And they can’t evict us all for hilarity. Not if we’ve paid and we promise to breath quietly.
I was really interested in hearing more about Buddhism, though there is SO much waffle it’s hard to actually understand what they are saying. A real shame, could have been good.
Started laughing from the very beginning, don’t know what they are talking about but they are so funny I nearly wet my knickers!
Laughing my head off on the train 😂😂😂
It’s good to hear about mindfulness and meditation from those that are learning and finding out more about it.
A good laugh 😊
One of the funniest pods in a while and can't wait for the next one!
So cathartic: really funny take on how myself and most of mine feel too in the recent explosion of the 'spiritual industry'!
I was interested and entertained to hear the saga of the retreat. Laughed out loud.
Still loving this , still laughing .
Hilarious love love love it .
Lee is OK but that Neil bloke is the star.
Was laughing so much tears were streaming down my face. Best podcast I’ve listened to ever I think. Looking forward to lots more episodes. Thanks for cheering me up in these strange times!
Sorry. I’m a big fan of Lee but c’mon this is drivel.
Endured to the end of episode one, even though it’s a topic close to my heart. Boring, disrespectful clap trap.
Very enjoyable, funny, entertaining and a greta antidote to everything that’s going on at the moment. So glad I came across it.
This isn’t a theoretical or practical exploration of mediation or Buddhism or indeed spirituality or calmness. Rather it’s more about the ‘noise’ we encounter on our way to those destinations. Taking the route of two Everymans experiences, both successful and less so, and just so - ultimately the path doesn’t always matter but it’s reassuring to know that what you could be feeling and thinking is not just you: you are not alone in this and we’re all connected - and humour is a great communal link. Well done guys, and I have no issues with the background music!
I like Lee as he has a genuine interest in Buddhism. However, the other guy is very annoying, I found his disrespect of the Buddhist practice upsetting.
I do hope they get more into the eightfold path on their journey to enlightenment 🙏🏻
Love Lee Mack - particularly on WILTY. Not sure who this Neil fella is but I think the podcast would be greatly improved if he was replaced.
Even if we go back into full lockdown life is too short for this
Really interesting subject but unfortunately way too much wheezy giggles which is ok for a bit but then after a while really grates🙈😬😬🙏
Best ever podcast . Thank you for making me laugh so much .
I was confused at first with the background music and get it was a little all over the place but when you keep on listening, it adds to the charm of the show. I really enjoy this show and can relate a lot and I have to say, I’ve never cried at a guided meditation before. Funniest thing ever!
Lee. Let him speak. Just once. Please.
99% of this is now Neil desperately trying to get to his point.
I can’t believe it’s not called ‘Lee sabotages a podcast about enlightenment’
Listened to first 15 mins, so boring..
Good conversation, distracting sound bed. They’re on a journey of discovery, they don’t need to go through the gift shop and grab something from the cd rack next to the incense.
I kept missing what was said as it was getting lost with the background music. I only got half way through 1st ep before giving up. Please remove background music as I really would like to enjoy this.
Normally like things with Lee Mack but this seems unprepared and slightly hard to listen to. Can’t believe it’s not better
Basically two friends chatting and making each other laugh, and in the process making me smile and laugh. Almost everything I want out of a podcast. Oh and stuff about Buddhism. I think
Stumbled across this new podcast and I’m glad I did. It’s a light hearted and humorous discussion about their journey into spiritually, refreshing and down to earth and even though it’s not all deep and meaningful I was surprised to realise during episode one that it was more relevant to me than I expected and a definite sign of direction on my own path. So thanks guys and keep up the good work, I for one am enjoying listening to 2 (or 3 😂) blokes exploring their way along during everyday life, you’re making a nice change from the often deep material found on this subject whilst still being relevant to the mindfulness we aim for, great to throw it into the mix!
I have been going on a spiritual journey myself in the last few years but struggled because it was all a bit too serious for me.
I have related to this podcast and it’s fantastic to listen to others who are interested in spirituality but still are human about it! Telling their experience, willing to ask questions and point out the faults in things - all while having a bloody good laugh!
Keep it up Lee and Neil! I’m loving it and looking forward to seeing where it goes!
Lee & Neil’s experience of starting out with meditation & Buddhism feels so relatable. I’m enjoying this podcast so much. Blooming joyful.
You gotta be a keen Mack fan to find this worthwhile.
Will we ever get to finish the retreat story?
I’ve bought the book boys... you should be on a commission 😊
Looking forward to the next episode
Loved it, great laugh 😃
I don’t read reviews so not sure why I am leaving. To start being Zen ignore comments and just listen.
Then decide if it for you.
I thought as I said interesting and fun.
If you find truth in Buddhism then this is the wrong podcast for you. They seem to of read one book and have now decided to educate people with some weird uneducated version of there own mash up of religions. Now they are leading people in meditation because they say it’s all the same! Stick to middle ground comedy on bbc.
This is as useful as asking frankie Boyle about Jesus.
I quite like the chatting however I don’t like the foreground music so I guess you have things in balance which is quite buddhist in itself.
It’s so good, every episode is laugh out loud funny from beginning to end, this pair are comedy gold, they even mention Buddhism occasionally, I want more.
I love this podcast; it’s so funny and totally brightens up my long drive to work. I was literally lol at some of it! Brilliant 👌🏽 please keep them coming!
Had to rearrange and put my serious face back on after listening on the way to work. Such a tonic. Laugh out loud (which I rarely do)
Firstly this podcast makes me laugh out loud at moments while others want to throw my phone down the loo. It’s obvious part of their relationship is to constantly take the p**s out of each other, however this becomes very annoying on the odd one occasion when one of them shows some honesty or vulnerability and gets cut off by some wise cracking jibe. Not ready to give up yet though
I love this show.
I read ‘The Power of Now’ a few years back and it freaked me out. I was afraid being enlightened might mean I had to stop being the character in my life and become a permanent neutral, joy free watcher. I get it, I believe it but surely part of being here is to be what we came here to be / do / learn 😂😂
The book stressed me out a bit to be honest. But I still get it and it helps but only like when you see the guy behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz - kind of explains things, but also ruins it all a bit!!
This is why I love this podcast so much - it gets it but still laughs out loud and has fun with it.
Don’t stop - we need more of this. Not sure if it is ‘me’ or ‘me the watcher’ maybe we both love it 😂🤩🌈
A good laugh but haven’t learnt much about Buddhism which isn’t a problem
I’ve learned nothing about Buddhism or meditation but I can’t stop laughing.
3 episodes in and I’m loving the podcast. Who’d have thought a story about a two (or was it three?!) day retreat where nothing happens - was so funny.
Keep it up!
Clearly reverse engineered from the title which presumably Mack found too funny.
