...but very mid-tempo all the time except for one track (Bang that). Thus it kind of rolls along, nice individual tracks but no standout tracks (though 'Magnets' with Lorde is good and 'Bang that' is decent) just not enough variety to keep you hooked through the album ride.
Only good track on this album is Magnets this is not the disclosure i used to know and love :/
I was really looking forward to this album. I played settle to death it was so good! This time round I am not so sure. There are a hand full of tracks that are really good and as soon as you hear them you will think "now that's disclosure!" The first half of the album is just not quite there for me. There seems to be a lack of catchy hooks that made settle so amazing. I have listened to this album 4 or 5 times now and it does grow on you and the second half of the album is very good, if you are a fan of disclosure you should definitely buy it. If you haven't heard Settle you should start with that and you will hear the magic that made them so popular then come back to caracal.
My rating is based on the tracks I had purchased, but if I had to rate the album overall, I'd probably rate it 3/5. 'Moving Mountains' is my favourite track by Disclosure so far, hands down. Brendan Reilly's vocals are absolutely stellar. I also love 'Good Intentions' and 'Omen' (the latter mainly because of Sam Smith's vocals). 'Willing and Able' and 'Superego' are also good, I think. Worth purchasing them individually.
This album is fantastic...I felt that Settle was more of a party vibe but I think Disclosure have found their feet with this one!!! This album has more of a soulful feel but it has the signature Disclosure sound and the features are amazing. My favourites are Magnets and Jaded. I just think that their next songs should have more lyrics in them and that will make the next album perfect
Magnets is the only good song. All the others sound the same. 🙁
This album is a triumph! I've seen and read a lot of reviews stating that this album is not as good, or even worse, than the previous, but...seriously?! Take a moment....reflect....this album is evolution! I understand it's not as "dancy" but Jesus!!!! Tell me what's new and original out there compared to these modern day Progressives of dance music. But I will say, you'll love it by the 3rd listen!!!😉😍
I've always been a big fan of Disclosure, and Caracal hasn't exactly changed that.. yet the album definitely does not live up to my expectations!
Settle was new, inventive, and every track sounded apart from the other. But unfortunately, Caracal doesn't follow this standard. Instead it relies on guest singers to add interest...
I was very much looking forward to this album as I have previously enjoyed their music whilst what some would call "getting out yer nut" but this new album just didn't quite do it for me, I am going to see them in November and I hope my jaw hits both of the posh inbreed in the face.
But that last album was Dyna
SETTLE was pretty genius. (Apart from that Sam Smith song… eeeeek) This is quite lame in comparison. Dull and never really takes of like SETTLE did…
Dear Disclosure, Better to stick to “mimicking the Chicago House sounds of the late 80s” - as iTunes puts it… You are great at THAT!
No where near as good as settle😩
Can’t stop dancing. I am so glad that I’ve found an album I can groove to. It’s makes me soooo happy!
Gets better after each time you play the album
Mixed playlist with settle makes some awesome listening
I'm a disclosure fan as well as a massive Sam Smith fan and I was expecting something better. Omen is the only good song on it of course as Sam's vocals are really strong but the rest sound boring and samey! Maybe I'll stick to In The Lonely Hour instead! Disappointed... 😥
Where's Sinead? That is all
Think this is actually better than Settle, which although was a very good album, sounded slightly 'samey' from track to track. Not the case here as each track seems to have a different style to it, and again Disclosure have continued to be great at picking the featuring artists for their tracks.
Day one fan of Disclosure and a lot slower than their past stuff, especially in comparison to Settle which was amazing but this is still a good album. The sound is on point, they've changed it up and I can't fault any of the tracks. Worth the wait.
Absolutely love this album!!!! Mellow vocals blended with the unmistakeable Disclosure sound. It's been on repeat for a few days and I'm still loving it!
Great tunes, well done disclosure 👍🏻
Caracal represents a development of the sounds of Settle. Disclosure have created a pulsating melodic wall of sound drawing on house and soul. There are many highlights including Good Intentions and Moving Mountains.
Don’t be fooled, totally different to the the first album no edge at all!! gets very boring and dull. First album will get played again in ten years and still sound great. This will be long forgotten
Not Settle doesn't mean not good. Fantastic album with a few really good album and undeniably Disclosure.
This album is yet another masterpiece by disclosure, amazing collabs and Howard's vocals are awesome, they still haven't made a bad song
Sick of people saying it doesn’t live up to “Settle”. I’m sorry but if this album really sounded EXACTLY like Settle, then would you buy it again. So what, they’re experimenting with different genres and sounds…that’s what musicians do, get over it…My favourite song on this album by far is Moving Mountains, love Brendan Reilly’s vocals!!!
this album is amazing! phenomenal! disclosure are my favourite artist(s) by far and i love all of their music, but Caracal is something else.. too impressed 😍😍 !!!
I heard a few tunes and fell in love with it, and went straight ahead and bought it! Great album, all of it sounds amazing! Definite must have!😺
Was so excited to hear this new album. Massive fan! Sadly this has not lived up to my expectations nor is it a patch on 'Settle'. It all sounds the same....very monotonous....and safe! Catered for an average radio playable sound.
I love this album so much, it's got a chilled vibe to it and it just pure brilliance.
songs are in my head and I already know the words to everyone as I've listened to it non stop.
I even own the Hard copy of the CD as well.
A lot more slower than the old album but just as good in my eyes, good to see they are trying something different.
Amazing album! People should stop comparing this album to settle as disclosure have moved on from that sound, the production is flawless especially in songs such as nocturnal and magnets. If people actually properly listen to the story of the album they will see what a masterpiece it truly is. Take it from me they're unreal live and should be considered a role model for what they bring live. Settle was brilliant but this brings a whole new element to disclosures music and I can't wait for what the future holds for these extremely talented brothers.
This is sick😍
Spotify + Headphones = Heaven 😍
Really bad! Lost there edge, has not got that underground sound to pop and commercial sounding, nothing like there last album.
If your expecting similar to the album settle, think again! .. but the new material - it’s alright.
What can I say, this one is not going to set the world on fire! It’s not a bad second effort but I feel they played it safe. This sounds like a chilled out version of their first album and it’s nice to put if friends are coming over for some food. A lot of the tracks sound the same and it’s difficult to tell them apart I almost feel they are leftovers that sis not make the Settle album. The one stand out track for me is Superego it’s fun, fresh and had a funky house-ish vibe. The singles are just that, singles! Not bad but radio friendly generic pop that is very evident using Sam Smith again. Let’s hope they grow from this and progress with the next release.
These are on of the best duo's ever, great selection of songs and the album is great to relax/chill to!!
The new album isn't as immediately satisfying as Settle. The debut album was fresh, innovative and unorthodox. The Lawrence bros have avoided repeating the formula for Caracal - instead going for a more jazzier, funkier vibe. It isn't as groundbreaking. But it mostly works: there are at least 4 great tracks. This is enough to keep us interested till album 3.
This is a major disappointment. What should be in every band's career "The defining 2nd album" that puts them into a super status in the music world, this falls flat on it's face. There is 2-3 songs on here that reminisces of "Settle" but the others are too slow paced. The songs are too vocal & in depth. The songs & lyrics you associate with Disclosure are short, snappy, up beat, fast paced. Bringing in known artists such as Sam Smith, KWABS etc ruins it. They have had there time, let them continue there quest. Bring in upcoming artists, like what they did with Sam Smith on the 1st album.
Boys, get it right for the 3rd album.
Nice to see disclosure mixing it up a bit & changing their sound. Some great tracks & still some dance floor hits on here too... Great album, well done Guy & Howard & of course the talented Jimmy Napes!
LOVE! this album, best music ive heard in a long time!
Settle for me will be one of the best albums that disclosure have put out to date, there was enough variety of sound and songs with good collaborations that will say almost every song has its own uniqueness to it and not one doesn’t have a great feel to it.
I just don’t get the same wow factor I did from this album, as some of the comments have said most of the tracks sound similar, its almost as if they have turned down the creativity on Caracal which there was so much on settle this is the safe disclosure album for the masses but anyone who compares both albums will see the clear difference yes one or two songs are decent but compared to settle this just hasn’t hit the same standard.
Even there earlier stuff is much better than this album.
These guys get better and better. Well worth the wait.
This album is off the hook! Dang my brotha's
Caracal is the after party album. Just as good as their first. Can't expect Settle mark two and I'm glad they didn't. A great album that compliments Settle
its not as good as settle but its a great follow up hourglass is the track of the album for me well worth a listen
Caracal is probably the best album of the year so far every song is good in it's own if you want Settle tracks like Jaded Hourglass and Echo will be for you. My favourites are Good intentions,Magnets, Willing and Able and After thought but i love all the tracks. Please stop reviewing based on settle because it's not and caracal is more suited to the mass market love it so much .
