Heard separate tracks but actually listening to the complete album just loving it David Gilmour I would walk to the moon to see, Rick Wright what can I say what a loss sadly wrong ones of Floyd leaving us
Please leave your poor husband alone and stop inflicting your mind numbing lyrics on him. He knows he isn’t a good lyricist but you do him no favours with your romantic tripe and awful rhyming couplets. I can really only listen to this album by picking out the tracks without the lyrics. Come back Roger - all is forgiven.
I’ve listened three times now and love it better each time. Mellow and rocking at the same time. Gilmour really attacks the guitar solos and sings very well too. Much better that On An Island and a really excellent rock album. You don;t need to be a Floyd fan to enjoy this, it’s just a great rock album by a great artist.
A superb album with a defining track....In Any Tongue, which is a rock masterpiece. DG is an unbelivable talent and to have produced this album after everything else he's done is an outstanding achivement. Brilliant lyrics by Polly Samson.
As only he can. I'm carried away and mesmerised by his flawless skill. The man makes playing a guitar a pure form of art. Excellent.
Dg a legend 5am reminds me of pink floyd
Oh dear , what is this ???
Not a patch on anything that's gone before. Huge fan but this just doesn't cut it. Struggling to give the album a second listen at the moment. So disappointed !!
I love this album. I had heard the title track which I loved. Second track released, "Today" was a bit disappointing however. Now the album as a whole is great one. If you can't get enough of David's solos, there is an extended version of Rattle That Lock on the Deluxe version with additional solos which in the studio release is faded out. They are just awesome. I recommend the Deluxe version also because of the videos of them jamming in David's Barn with the late Rick Wright. These are just fantastic to have and a couple of nice tunes there too.
I was told this album would take time to grow on me, that's not the case, I loved it from the first track to the last. Sounds of Floyd in parts but why would that be a surprise? and when David plays a solo he can convey more passion and feeling in one note than the majority of Guitarists in an entire career. Better than On an Island. Just wish he would turn out albums more regularly. More of the same please!
David gilmour unique talent we are lucky he still has the desire to give us the pleasure of his playing, let's face it he has nothing to prove and certainly doesn't need the money.
Cheers & thank you.
Brilliant eclectic mix of music, David once again delivers a beautifully produced & engineered CD. Davids guitar sound is joy to the ears. Downside? Ten years since On an island but hey the guy is a musical genius he can do what the hell he wants.
Not sure what album the whingers have been listening to, this new album is much better than his last. Pure David Gilmour Magic in places. Enjoy !
I can honestly say I've never been more disappointed with a much anticipated release, as I have with this one. I've been listening to it via Apple Music and at the same time, listened to Waters' remixed Amused to Death which absolutely knocks spots off Gilmour's poor release - guess which one I bothered to buy, even though I've already got the 1992 release.
Honestly I wanted so much to like this. It's got some really nice songs (the 2 singles, in any tongue and beauty) but the rest... Not sure really. Still better than the majority around that's for sure but for me it was a bit of an anticlimax. A few songs that are kind of jazzy and mean very little to me. But the guitars are wonderful as ever if only slightly less "aggressive"
The album is ok but not as good as previous work, I'm hoping it grows on me.
I bought "On an Island" as a DG fan but have to admit to being somewhat disappointed as to me it kind of runs out of steam after "This Heaven". "Rattle That Lock", however - now this is a different kettle of cod altogether. On the first couple of listens it ticks all the boxes for me. Splendid trademark Gilmour guitar licks, Slightly Floydish tinge to quite a few tracks and much more vibrant all round that the previous offering. I bought the deluxe download and was delighted if somewhat sad to see Rick Wright so prominent in the short Barn jam videos. I have to say though that his little chat to camera at the end of the last one is a very touching tribute to the man who may just have made this album perfect had he still been around to participate. RIP Rick, play on David.
Rattle that lock what an album still got it after all these years.
Sublime tone and thoughtful lyrics!
This single is so poor. Its so pedestrian it hurts my ears. I actually can't listen to it. But DG can churn out anything and the masses will buy. Whose got the last laugh?!
just in the process of listening to daves new album and its different in many ways from on an island, more introspective and laden with lyrics that have a theme of sorrow in them.but nevertheless it is a worthwhile adition to his repetoire of solo albums, the production is crisp and as usual, his guitar sound make up for the lack of a bouncy feel[but since when did floyd have a bouncy feel?].a rather low key affair that some might not adhere to but on the whole another good, rather than brilliant to any floyd fans catalogue!
Sorry but it sounds like Chris Rea on acid!….poor show
David's guitar playing is as it always is - superb. On first listen of the entire album it bears all the trademarks of a Gilmour album - precise, beautiful music and lovely vocalsl. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics, I simply sat back and let the music surround me. Loved it!
The legend still has the touch, great album with a bit of jazz thrown in… demonstrating continuous experimentation and development. Highly recommended.
Great album enough said
What is happening to your morals David? I remember when Pink Floyd didn't bother about singles, they could rely on album sales. Is this the pension fund, so you don't run out of money during your old age? God help us if you are short of money!!
Brilliant track! D.G. Does it again! Can't wait to hear this live in the Albert Hall 3rd Oct 2015!
Gilmour does it again - great groove - and brillint melody. The production is right up there as usual too. Brilliant return from DG.
Fantastic single. Love it
