old-school swagger and groove

Much has been said about the pedigree of the musicians involved with this project. It's not important. What IS important is the quality of the music because it is absolutely first class.
This is an organic, diverse collection bursting with old-school swagger and groove. This is the sound of a bunch of guys just doing what they love doing - plugging-in and seeing where the sparks land.
Matt Deighton has never sounded better. There is genuine soul in everything he does but his new compadres bring out the very best in a criminally underrated talent. This is most definitely a great 'band' at work, getting the chemistry right and getting the best out of everyone involved.
Having said that, all Matt's trademarks are present; the intricate, fluid acoustics; the loose but focused riffing; that warm, yearning voice. 'Washed Away' and 'Overshadowed' could have come from any of his fine solo albums but are bolstered here by beefier, superior arrangements and the input of his new team mates. He throws us welcome surprises too; rocking out on 'Give Up Your Tears', the understated opening of the anthemic 'For Free' and the ragged, urban psychedelics of 'Broken Windows'.
This record is going to sound phenomenal in the right venue. Hell, this will sound phenomenal in ANY venue. Here's looking forward to the tour AND the next album.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Highly Recommend ...

In my opinion, Matt Deighton is one of the U.K’s most underrated songwriters. With the debut Family Silver album there is a departure from the acoustic folk albums that he has mastered over more recent years, with a triumphant return to the electric guitar. The band that Matt has assembled is of true pedigree with the excellent rhythm section of Steve White and Damon Minchella pulling the exquisite songs together and driving them forward. The sound that Matt gets out of his Les Paul sends a shiver down my spine every time I listen to the album, which has been very frequently over the last few weeks. I cannot recommend this record highly enough; it’s majestic and there’s not a duff track on the album.

I was once in Mother Earth with Matt and have followed with interest his journey this Lp is truly Fantastic, Matt and the boys have really pulled it off songs like Overshadowed and Broken Windows 10 outta 10, Bunny :)

A truly cohesive album.

Sometimes the term supergroup really doesn't do a band justice; this is certainly one of those cases.
My advice to anyone listening to Electric Blend is to put aside the band's previous paymasters, collaborations, influences & histories, & just enjoy what is a very rare thing; an album you can listen to from start to finish with real cohesion.
Both Matt Deighton & Steve White are audibly rejuvenated on this album, and the production deserves special mention also, with great punch & clarity.
If the album title is a pop at a disparaging remark made of the band's appearance, it's genius too.

Simply the best release of 2015!!!

I have followed these great musicians for the bulk of 2015 as they have progressed the development of this album. For me the best release of 2015! This band has got soul, rock, passion, guts and musical drive to hit you between the eyes with momentous tunes that you will be singing all day, and probably all night. If you want classic music that will stand the test of time, played and produced superbly, then this is the release for you. Total five star release - buy with confidence!! 😊👍

lucky to have a preorder of Electric Blend and have been playing it in the car, with headphones and out loud on the stereo and this album hits the spot every time. Each song takes you on a different musical emotional journey. From the heavier to the more soft and gentle, musical gems all the way trhrough. my favourite at the moment is Overshadowed, so much going on in this song...Each song would sound powerfdul live or acoustic ...... i recommend you buy it when its avaialbe and give yourself time to listen to it start to finish and don't let it be Overshadoweded!

Great collection of songs

It has it all from the first second to last. It covers Soulful numbers, Rock and also the odd Ballad or two here and there thrown in for good measure.
Great debut from some fine players. One to put on again and again.
A fine debut album

There's a saying, a dog is for life, not just for Christmas. With its November release date then this would make the perfect present for anyone that's missed hearing simply sublime individuals all coming together to release a work of art. In years to come a lot of new bands will be name dropping this album as the reason they got into music, it's that good.

If you like your 'classic' British bands, the Stones, The Who, right through to the omdern day counterparts this album has something for you.
Great playing and songwriting mean that all those ingredients are lovingly served up for your listening pleasure. One of my albums of the year.

The opportunity to hear an album of this quality doesn't come around very often. For me it's up there with listening for the first time to albums like Steve McQueen, Wild Wood, Porcupine, and Revolver! 3 musicians working together and bringing their collective influences to the plate. I don't need to wax lyrical about the pedigree of the band members. The music speaks volumes. It's an eclectic blend..it's Electric Blend. Buy it!!

A great record from a truly great band! Electric Blend is an album of beautiful production, stellar songwriting and sublime playing from some of the best around … The term ‘classic’ gets used a lot but this has all the elements to achieve that status with ease … Peace & Love - Don’t it Feel Good? Yes it does!

This album is superb from start to finish - Souring vocals singing gliding melodies over fat, tight, top-class musicianship. A seriously great British rock n roll modern classic.

A song based album of great tunes played brilliantly! A pleasure to listen to on many levels. The heritage of the musicians as top line players for the song shines through. That plus the fact they've written some ace tunes make this an album well worth owning - especially at the price of a couple of skinny lattes and a muffin!

Been thinking people are looking back at the 90's recently and wondering what went wrong since. This album is the best since Stanley road for me. Mixture of styles and tunes. Outstanding musicians ( Steve white on drums, say no more). You don't know and you can't wait to hear what the next tunes going to be. Love it

Lucky enough to have a pre release copy. This album is just fantastic. There is not a single album filler in here. Matts voice is soulful and bluesy and Steve's drums single while Damon's bass pulls it together. If you have ever bought Weller, the who, OCS or Oasis then this is for you. A class above!

A stellar return

This record's got lyricism and muscle and playing of a standard not heard for a long, long while. Three luminaries of the last golden age of British popular music coming together and showing how to make great music. Not a duff moment on this debut LP. It shines bright.

Listening to this album is like letting your favourite chocolate melt in your mouth and enjoying it as long as it lasts. And then you want another piece. It's not commom to hear an album nowadays so well put together, musically and production wise as well. Highly recommended. Favourite track is 'Only'.

The re-birth of the British band, music comes out of the dark ages and is taken to the next level, this is the album we've been waiting for from these three giants of British music, Steve White, Matt Deighton and Damon Minchella.
It is a joyous, harmonious, psychedelic, funk and rock masterpiece.
Please treat your ears, mind and soul !
