...I think this is absolutely wonderful. My fellow middle aged blokes dismiss it instantly because it usues a lot of familiar pop catches and I'm kind of disappointed in them for not looking a little deeper. I on the other hand feel totally young and funky now, so it's their loss

I personally LOVE the album, before Art Angels I liked Grimes' music but wasn't in love with it, however, I'm absolutely infatuated with every single song on here and have it on repeat (in particular, KvM). It's still her distinctive sound but just better, I don't understand how she's being called a sell out.

this album shows grimes's progression whilst retaining her originality

Saw Flesh Without Blood video and was obsessed with the song. Listening to the full album first time was a bit of a shock to the system... Grimes is so far ahead of anything you can predict. After digesting the album over the last few days I can without a doubt say I am, once again, in love with a Grimes album.

What I would say is - it's not Visions... so don't expect another Visions-era album. Instead approach this album with 'fresh ears'. The introduction of guitar adds a really cool element to her sound and you get to appreciate her vocals a lot in this album. Still one of the most exciting artists right now.

Sounds like a bunch of Katy Perry offcuts. Glossy, trite, shrill, dated and tacky. From the sublime 'Visions' to this?? Embarrasing and sad. Vacuous commercial garbage.

Good sounds , Some people say it's not poppy but to me it mostly is if you listen to crystal ball or sagrad nagrand(how ever you spell it) You can tell the difference. But great clear sounds, good production, A lot of guitar used in most of the songs though? Easily seems more of her old style mixed witha bit of trap and i like it , KillVMaim is probably my favourite, Love grimes <3

When I first heard Grimes, the music sounded like nothing I'd heard before. A hint of Cocteau Twins, maybe… a whiff of Björk, but basically it was an exciting, new sound. Nearly everything on Art Angels sounds old. There are moments, sure, and the production is nice, but these songs are dull. I'd hoped for so much more. I doubt I'll ever play this album again.

This album has launched grimes light years into the stratosphere. Same weird flare with a higher production and a wider range with more pronounced pop

i think the album is showcasing Claire’s skills as a producer and songwriter and how much she has improved since visions (literally she sounds like a different artist/musician altogether!!)

I personally love the sound in general, theres a few songs that i find catchy but don’t click with me and i find them maybe a little bit boring and predictable (I’m thinking flesh without blood and california in particular) there’s others I’m totally hooked, esp Kill v Maim which is a really fun and clever song! i like to see this other side of grimes - the extrovert side not just the introvert side! I think art angels is an extrovert album and also a bit crazy and very very danceable which is great :) i can’t lie that visions gave me a greater visual journey and more intense emotions but i don’t expect claire to go through hell every time she writes an album - visions felt tortured, this is fun and more light headed (although very precise) and I’m sure it was very fun for claire to write which is awesome and shows she’s in a good place rn 🌹

Art angels reminds me of a mix of Halfaxa and Visions, creating possibly the best album Grimes has made to date. Absolutely awestruck with her new work and can't wait to see her live!

this album IS SO GOOD. Grimes is such an amazing artist and I’m so happy she did the album she wanted to do. Kill V.Maim is the bomb!

Pure pop.

This is the most polished and commercial album she has made. .......There are guitars...... I always liked her punk weirdness, the fact she looked like tank girl and the fact it felt like it was thrown together in a week but this is much more 'produced'. I'm sure some people will cry judas like when Bob Dylan went electric but artists have to grow and one thing I love about grimes is she follows her own muse and this is where it's taken her. She will definitely get a new audience from this and because it's arguably more accessible she will probably become more mainstream which is no bad thing for grimes fans as we will see more of her on the media. Her voice has always been her greatest asset but sometimes it didn't shine as it should but here they really do. Remember It's ok for alt people to like pop music :) look at what gwen stefani did after no doubt - I guess that's the closest comparison I could make. Art work is amazing too. I like it!!

I’ve always been a fan of Grimes since the beginning. Yes this album is a lot different in terms of style and production but it’s definitely an album that Grimes would produce and I have to say, it definitely does work. It’s true that I was hoping more tracks like Oblivion and Genesis but to me, I’m glad she was able to explore this style of music in at least one of albums, it’s creative, catchy as hell and it isn’t a typical commercial album. What a great record, these songs would sound awesome live too. awesome work!

I think only Rob Da Bank played Grimes in the UK - he certainly introduced me to her a few years ago. Her first album was unique - catchy, airy, weird but highlighted promise.

With Art Angels she has completely gone for the jugular. Introducing bombastic big beats, samples, riffs and grooves, this is a totally different album. Scream is essentially her throwing off her sound from the last album. As cathartic as intends to be, its actually the worst track here.

The remaining songs sound like a mix of Annie, Charli XCX and Little Boots…no bad thing!

I have been waiting forever for this album and I can say this without hesitation, it's totally worth it. ' flesh without blood' is a great track and I'm so happy to see RealTi on the album ^^

A long awaited new album and it is truly incredible. Nothing compares to the unique style of her voice! World Princess part II is my favourite song I think, I love you Grimes 💜

Grimes has not ‘gone pop’ - Grimes has always been very clear about being a pop project from the start. Her songwriting, singing, and especially production have gone up 10 levels on ‘Art Angels’. The beats sound absolutely massive. Especially on ‘Flesh Without Blood’, ‘Kill vs Maim’, ‘Artangels’ and ‘Butterfly’. If you’re wondering if there’s anything as strong and catchy as ‘Flesh Without Blood’ on there, the answer is YES. ‘Artangels’ (the song) has banging techno beats not a million miles away from ‘REALiTi’, and an outro chorus ‘I don’t need your medicine, that’s alright, I’m high on adrenaline, that’s right, that’s right, that’s right’, which you won’t be able to get out of your mind for months. I don’t know what the words to the chorus of ‘Kill vs Maim’ are, but it sounds huge and every bit as catchy as ‘Go’ - expect it to be a single. If you liked ‘Entropy’ and the softer, acoustic side of ‘Grimes’, you’ll really enjoy ‘Belly Of The Beat’, with another catchy hook.

So, if you’re ‘disappointed’ at Grimes ‘selling out’ and moving away from Medieval techno-pop, ask yourself who else out there is recording Taiwanese surf-rock with death-metal screams? The tunes are more immediate, but the dark strange unique heart of Grimes that we all love is still beating. And harder!

Thank you for finally bringing REALiTi out!!! I can't wait to have this song on my phone, have been listening on YouTube since you uploaded it.
