Findings
This album is a gem: Ange Hardy has developed as a songwriter through each of her albums, and this one is no exception - bettering than the excellent Esteesee. Ange's collaboration with Lukas Drinkwater has created wonderful vocal harmonies, with the warmth and tone of his voice complementing her clear and bright tones beautifully. The range of instruments the two play - along with those of guest artists - beautifully support the voices and never threaten to overwhelm them. Of the new songs, By the Tides stands out for its heartfelt sentiment, and the beauty of its harmonies. Of the arrangements of traditional songs, The Trees They Do Grow High, and a new take on The Parting Glass, The Parting Lullaby, stand out.
Although placed firmly in the folk tradition, Findings derserves to find a much wider audience of those who appreciate beautifully crafted songs, written and sung with heart and passion. And of course, if you get the chance to see the two of them perform live - take it! This is music that is even better heard in live!
