OxyDream

I can still recall the moment I first heard the original Oxygene album 'back in the day' and was blown away by the innovation and originality that Jean Michel created. That album still stands as one of my top 10 of all time. Move onto Oxygene 2, an album so tight and fluid left me thinking it was a project that must have a finale. I held onto that over the years and was amazed to hear the news of a trilogy possibility. Now we have album 3, which for me not only ends a journey on a real high, but encapsulates it in what is for me JMJ's ability to write and produce fresh and innovative music after a long and creative career. This album doesn't replicate Oxygene 1 or 2 but retains the classic sweeping synth undertones and gentle rolling thunder atmospherices and takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride of sweeping energetic and cool ambient chapters. There are some brilliant nods to the past with a gentle reminder of Oxygene 6 within Oxygene 19 and a single similar note from Oxygene 7 appearing as a subtle reminder. The music retains an almost epic theme throughout and phases out with you wondering if mankind is moving towards deep space or planet earth is taking its last breath.
I like to think of it as the former. Some will love this album and some will not, that's music for you, but there is no doubt that Jean Michel Jarre is leaving a legacy of music that is making history and I feel that history is still to be made if he continues writing music as good as this. JMJ bring it on!

Composed

Arguably Jarre's best, and most creative album for three decades, he's thankfully dropped the showmanship, and got back to doing what he does best: minimilistic composing.

Everything you ever want from JMJ

I had worried that JMJ had lost his touch over the past couple of projects, but I needn't have worried. This is just sublime. This could have been written at the same time as the original. Have yourself 1 drink too many, put the headphones on, switch off the light, and float off into Middle Earth listening to this. FANTASTIC!

Gogbozen

JMJ's - Electronica 1 &2 collaborations aside - best album in two decades. Stands shoulder to shoulder with his early work. When you listen to this it makes you realise what you hoped for from Oxygene 2.

Classic Jarre

This album is a perfect conclusion to the Oxygene trilogy and a fitting tribute for its 40th anniversary. Jean Michel Jarre is surely the true Godfather of electronic music.

Goosebumps

Saw the Electronica tour in Glasgow and heard Oxygene 17 and was captured by the typical Jarre elements. Now I have the album I'm hooked on it but Oxygene 19 gives me goosebumps on the back of my neck. In an album it's what I want to hear but it's also fresh and gives a little push to the listener. It also sounds like an ending to an amazing journey over 40 years. Kind of hope it's not. Absolutely smitten with this chapter of JMJ's works. The wait was worth it.

Thank you JMJ, absolutely marvelous album that keeps the musical notes of the first two but adds something more. the last track feels like a proper end and i can imagine a sun rising.

Can. Not. Wait!

After hearing the gorgeous Part 17 at his recent Electronica tour, this album could be the perfect conclusion over the trilogy. The new track has a sense of emancipation that 7-13 didn't being bogged down by concept over construct. There's just a sheer joy that emanates from post-Electronica Jarre, clearly evidenced in the world tour that bodes so well for this album. December can't come soon enough.
