Rundgren rebooted

If you like Todd Rundgren you will love this. Virtually a solo project with a little help from some friends including Kasim Sultan. Kicking off with some bouncy pop with Love is Real, then the standout track (for me) Wishing I Could change the World. Summer of 76 evoking warm summer days and steamy
nights. The song ‘Astral Drive’ would sit comfortably on Todd’s ‘A Wizard A True Star’
Overall an impressive collection of not just Rundgren tribute songs, but the work of an accomplished song writer & musician.

Superb album

Great sounding record including instantly sing along songs such as 'Love Is Real'. Tracks like ‘This Is Place’ just ooze quality and transport you to your inner thoughts. The highlight for me is 'Summer Of '76', a perfect ode to the best summer. Of course you don’t have to have been alive in ’76, but it still makes you reminisce. Feel good 70's inspired music at it's very best, it instantly puts you in a good mood. Also checkout the alternative green album, some great arrangements on there. The afore mentioned ‘Summer Of ’76’ taking on a whole new feel and meaning. A testament to the quality of Phil Thornalley’s song writing.

Wonderful Album

I keep coming back to this album that is packed with great pop tunes and littered with melodies that stay with you. Lyrically it covers nostalgia to the present; humorous, heartfelt and thought provoking. A timeless piece.

A Lost Rundgren Album?

Astral Drive is songwriter and producer Phil Thornalley’s vision of a long lost album from the 1970s. A labour of love in homage to the sounds and songs of early Todd Rundgren albums. Crammed full of heartfelt singing, soulful harmonies and spacey guitars. Phil plays writes, plays and produces it all. Utilising skills learned from the years he spent making records for The Cure, Bryan Adams and most famously Natalie's Imbruglia's 'Torn'.
