Little less guitar this time round

Their previous album was truly flawless so I completely understand the change of sound and experimentation on 'Rituals'. I think with such strong vocals they could take on any genre and nail it. Here I really enjoyed the album on the whole, but do feel that there are stand out tracks in amongst some less strong songs.
'Sinners' , 'Holy' and 'Pure' really jump out and have been on loop. I'm a fan for life so cannot wait for the next release :)

Not as good...but still ace

I absolutely love this band but there can be no doubt that their authentic feel has been surrendered somewhat with Rituals. But if that catches a new DH audience and gets them to peel back to the original stuff then all good. Llisten closely to the words, feel the feeling and you'll soon be belting these tunes out. Fingers crossed for an acoustic version.

Give it Time

OK , first things first, this album aint as good as All These Countless Nights but there aint no shame in that as ATCN was a bona fide classic.
It is definately a departure for the lads and i must admit it took a few listens to get used to the idea, but give it time and their always sublime tunes and lyrics will slowly get their hooks into you.
I realise some of the rock fans might balk at the overall feel of the album (think a poppier version of Lifehouse) but if you accept it for what it is you will discover a pretty damn fine album that sits proudly alongside their others.

Cool new look, same old awesomeness

Album is awesome, fools and worthless lists will always be my favourite thought. If your knee to deaf Havana, go check it out too

Sounds like Imagine Dragons but good

Yes this is more commerical but at the same time its good and really listenable, so four stars from me and I do think it sounds a little like Imagine Dragons.

Absolutely Beautiful

I am so proud of Deaf Havana and all they continue to achieve. They are genuine artists and their creativity and passion always shines through their work. What a beautiful album, can honestly say I have had Evil on repeat for days now it is breathtaking and has really struck a chord with me, when I first heard Sinner I was so surprised but excited, sure it’s a bit more ‘radio friendly’ or whatever people are saying, but what’s actually wrong with that, will never understand what certain people have against poppier tunes, Sinner is an uplifting and really well put together song and if you aren’t clapping your hands and trying to mimic the choir by the end then I’m sorry for you! I’m so happy that Deaf Havana have followed their own hearts and created something that THEY wanted to create and believed in and have not trudged on to fit a scene/genre/style that they have apparently been expected to stick to entirely. Keep at it lads, I love you!

Extremely disappointed.

Pre ordered album a while ago downloaded by itself without me realising. Every time a song from this album comes on I skip it. Completely lost their sound. Sounds like the rest of the crap on radio 1 now! Always wanted to see them live but completely changed my mind now! ☹️

Evolution

This album is amazing, of course it sounds different but that doesn’t deny that it’s great work. Some people just want bands to stay the same, I guess you can’t please everyone. I can’t wait to hear these songs live, with fans that appreciate the band and not a specific ‘sound’ 😜

DH gone pop

I’m an absolutely massive fan of Deaf Havana and have enjoyed everything they have done, but this is a massive let down.
This is a very mainstream, middle of the road album that for me, has moved too far away from what made them one of the most underrated UK bands. Passionate lyrics backed up with very little guitar work, and don’t know what they’ve done with the drums but they sound so weak. It feels as if they want more success so have moved more towards pop to achieve it. Absolutely gutted

10/10 album

Absolutely love the progression this band have made! Followed them from day one, and this latest masterpiece just extends my love for them.

Fantastic new direction for Deaf Havana. So what if this appeals to the masses? I’ve been a fan since Meet Me Halfway. Wish them every success👌

Loving it!

First time I’ve picked up a Deaf Havana album in quite a while and this is great. Shoutout to Phil Gornell who also helped make this masterpiece.

Commercial

The one released song sounds very commercial, heavily edited and almost autotuned... I’m a massive fan, so I’ll reserve judgement of the album until I hear it all. Hopefully it’s not all like that.
Edit: well, it got worse. GG guys, you’ve lost your unique sound.
Honestly, this could be any band/music program with what I assume is James’ voice, through lots of effects. And this talk of a band having to progress and change is utter ****; only if you can pull it off as well as someone like Radiohead. I’m just so disappointed in the sound of this album, it’s radio fodder - which is fine, if that’s what you want from your favourite band. At least there appear to be no rap verses, yet.

deaf havana

this album is great as good as their last one all you stupid people who want artists to sound the same after every album need to grow up and accept that there sound has changed slightly

Is this Maroon5

This is so disappointing after the last album which was brilliant. For those talking of growing and progression, that’s fine if you think that’s what this is but, to me they have gone from a work of brilliance (All these countless nights) to sounding very similar to Maroon5 (in my view not a good thing). The songs aren’t bad songs and James voice is a definite highlight, it sounds better than ever. It looks like it’s gonna prove popular and is getting plenty of backing from Radio 1 so good luck to them. I’m sure for every fan who doesn’t enjoy this progression they’ll gain plenty of new ones to take our places. While every band can go in whatever direction they please, this ones not for me.

This well and truly will be my favourite album of 2018

So far, really impressed with the song-writing as per usual with Deaf Havana.
I believe this album will prove that Deaf Havana are able to evolve and adapt as a band and still produce some quality music.
So excited for the release.

Quality.

Two tracks in and this album is already sick.
Deaf Havana deserve so much recognition for their unbelievable talent. Cannot wait for the rest of this album. They deserve every success. Unreal band.

Best work of the band’s career. By far! Onwards and upwards to bigger and better things.

Annoying when..

...people review an entire album based on a 90 second snippet, and when they want the band to stand still musically rather than grow and adapt. 🤔🤦🏼‍♂️🙄

Disappointing

I’m sorry but that single ‘Sinners’ is so poor. They’ve went so mainstream now and lost the sound that made them what they are. I desperately hope the album is more in touch with what they’ve done previously, but this has hugely disappointed.

Awesome

The sound is polished and more commercial but it shows off the songwriting skills of James and deserves to catapult him on to the big stage ! Can’t wait for the album
