What an album

What an emotional conquest this album is. Such compelling and soulful lyrics. The honesty and vulnerability Tim has portrayed in these songs takes a lot of courage.
Keane are back with another work of art. I hope this isn’t a one off return and instead, Cause and Effect is the first of many albums still to come.

Wow! best yet!

Wow what can I say, an amazing album. I was lucky enough to see Keane live a couple of weeks ago and this album helps me relive that amazing night.
I have had the way I feel in head all week!...Incredible, full of emotion and very catchy.

Wow what a beautiful album with very moving lyrics that put a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye. So good to have a brand new Keane album to treasure.

Just what’s needed!

Great return to form from the very talented Keane. Saw them in Glasgow 15 years ago when they released the classic Hopes and Fears. This collection sits with their finest songs. Put the radio on - is my favourite a truly classic sounding Keane song.
Well done and keep up the great work!

Masterpiece

Haven’t listened to a Keane album since 2004’s Hopes and Fears, but my Dad brought me here and I have to say every single song is a complete masterpiece. Vocally, melodically, compositionally and production wise it’s a pure work of musical art. The stories and lyrics are so poignant and relevant (to me at the moment). This record gives hope and helps to alleviate any fears. When you’re searching for something new musically and then you’re hit right in the heart with this. This record will be on repeat for quite a while. Beautiful ✨⭐️✨⭐️✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟

On constant repeat

I’m not a Keane fan boy, but I do like them and bought their first 2 albums (on CD, remember those?!). I have to confess, I didn’t get the last 2 albums and just spotted this on Apple Music by chance and thought I’d give it a listen. I’ve just had this on repeat for about 3 days now, it’s an absolute gem, even better than Hopes & Fears. So raw, so emotional, it’s just stunning. Album of the year is a joke, this is the Album of the decade. Thank you Keane, Cause & Effect is incredible.

Listened twice now back to back and it just gets better and better. My heart hurts listening to the lyrics and the music as I understand it’s been a journey. Fantastic Album

Keane’s best output since 2006

This is Keane’s most rounded album since 2006’s Under the Iron Sea and there are some absolute classics - You’re Not Home; Strange Room and Stupid Things are all superb. Thank God they're back.

This is truly beautiful

Hope and Fears, Keane's first album stole my heart. Those that followed were good, but never quiterecapturing that perfect chemistry for me. This however has had me blubbering like a fool. I have listend to it twice in one day, something I've never done before. It is so brutally honest and relatable. Thank goodness they are back.

Was well worth the wait! Beautifully crafted songs with brutally honest lyrics about the songwriter’s divorce. I’m not Leaving has brought tears to my eyes. So glad Keane are back.

Stunning

Delighted to have some new Keane material to listen to and wow... such a ride. Can’t wait to hear this live at upcoming gigs. Tom’s voice still soars, one of the best British male voices in my opinion. And Tim’s songwriting leaves me reeling!

A Future Classic

Wow! This is a future classic in my opinion. Every song is stunning, a journey through TIm Rice-Oxley's turbulent few years and out the other side. There are some raw, dark lyrics but also lots of hope too. I would suggest finding a nice quiet place and listening to this album through good quality headphones to appreciate the pure brilliance that is Cause And Effect!
The album opener, You're Not Home has Sigur Ros/Jonsi vibes and it builds to a fantastic crescendo towards the end. This is one of my favourites and is the perfect song to open the album.
The two singles, Love Too Much & The Way I Feel are brilliant. Love Too Much has quite a poppy feel to it, like a modern Everybody's Changing, whereas The Way I Feel is most like the rocky brashness of Is It Any Wonder and has some very meaningful lyrics about depression.
Put The Radio On is a genius track. It sounds like Keane before they were famous. It reminds me of Russian Farmer’s Song, mixed with a dash of Atlantic. This has the potential to be in my top 5 Keane songs of all time, the more I listen to it. The second half is so unexpected and epic!
Strange Room is extremely dark but heart-breaking lyrics. You’ll find it hard not to shed a tear when listening to this song.
Stupid Things immediately stood out when listening to this album for the first time. It is the third single and I can see why! It is very catchy and I think this is going to get stuck in my head (In a good way!) Love it.
Phases is a classic Keane pop-rock song with some great lyrics. I think this is going to grow on me and become another song that gets stuck in my head!
I’m Not Leaving is a beautiful song, a message to Tim’s daughters. Richard’s drumming in this really stood out for me and after a few listens it is really growing on me.
Thread – I’ve listened to this delicate song a couple of times now and it’s another song that is a classic Keane ‘grower’, the more you listen to it, the better it gets! So many Keane songs are like that, I would encourage people to listen to Keane songs 3 or 4 times at least before passing judgement on them.
Chase The Night Away is utterly brilliant. It is a modern day Somewhere Only We Know in my eyes! I really think this could do very well if it was released as a single, perhaps around Christmas time. It is the most hopeful song on the record, a love song with wonderful lyrics and a catchy chorus. It is probably my favourite song on the album at the moment.
I Need Your Love is a fantastic album closer. Another classic example of Keane building a song to a bold climax. I think this will become a favourite of mine too after a few more listens!
The two bonus songs and the acoustic variations are also well worth a listen! I especially like the acoustic version of The Way I Feel.
Overall, Cause And Effect is highly deserving of the 5-star rating I have given it. Now, go and listen for yourself!

New lease of life, back with a bang

Such a good album judging from all of the songs so far released, can hear the progression that the band has made especially with tom’s voice, it seems a fair bit mellower these days and I hear quite a bit of “the wave” theme within this album too, so glad they are back together as they become something else when the synergize! Masterpiece

Back to their best?

The new songs sound very much like Keane have decided to go back to their original roots and have a similar but updated sound of hopes and fears. Very impressed so far I think this album will deliver and be one of their best so far. Good work lads.

Amazing!

I’m such a huge fan of the older music Keane has made. Waiting for the lads to come back, well it’s been hard. However it’s completely worth it. The songs released so far have so much meaning and are upbeat. It mirrors all the older music and Tom’s Solo Album. Please keep the upbeat music coming and take my money! 😂😂 Well Done boys you should all be proud.

Sensational Tune

Imagine not doing something for 6 years, then doing it again and being able to do it better than you did before. That's the sorcery Keane have pulled off here. After listening to this song once, my missing left leg regenerated. After now listening several times I can recite whole Bible extracts from memory. I look forward to being able to walk on water when the whole album drops.

Not a return to form

This is not a return to form because Keane have consistently produced pop music of the highest quality and this is no different. Well done to Tom and the boys. Keep these albums coming...

7 year hiatus

I can’t believe it’s Keane’s first album since 2012’s Strangelend. I’m so happy they have returned with new material. They have always maintained such great quality of music. They are a very consistent band so I have high hopes for this album.

They’re back - better than ever!

It’s been 6 years but the wait seems to be worth it. Love this new single - an upbeat and catchy song. Typical Keane juxtaposition of melancholy lyrics mixed with an earworm sound.
Can’t wait to hear the whole album.
Welcome back Keane. It’s a better music scene with you in it.
