As good as ever
I’ve been a lifelong James Blunt fan and have grown up with his songs. The first album that 10 year old me bought in 2005 was “Back to Bedlam”, and I’ve always followed James since then.
“Once Upon a Mind” has a certain “refined rawness” to it - if that make any sense at all. As emotional as Back to Bedlam or All the Lost Souls (think “Same Mistake” or “Carry You Home”), but with the emotional and songwriting maturity you would expect of an artist 15 years in the making.
“The Truth” and “Cold” are the two most publicised from the album and are excellent, classic Blunt and very difficult to get out of your head.
There’s some brilliant acoustic work, his vocals are just as perfect as ever and yet he conveys his emotions brilliantly, such as with “Monsters” or his acknowledgment of his career progression in “Youngster”, fitted nicely to a good time.
Looking forward to seeing him very soon on tour!

Very strong new album. He sounds like he's really in the zone with these songs. It all feels effortless and the melodies are very catchy. Possibly his best album since Back to Bedlham.

Fabulous songs - Heartfelt and exquisite
Wow- Just listened to James Blunt's new album from start to finish. Such an incredible mix of moods from uplifting to heartbreaking. Each and every song bursting with truth and clarity of message. I love his voice and he has an unparallelled raw quality, particularly in this album, that is simply beautiful. Have ordered it online and am also going to buy the CD for my car. What a fabulous, accomplished collection. Love it!!
