Still hanging in there!

I'll start off by saying that as a long term fan of the Black Country Rockers, this one is not one of the best, but fans shouldn't boycott the album. I've no doubt as the new recruits blossom into the Magnum way the band will turn out more belting albums. Bob and Tony are too well experienced to let the band go. The loss of Mark Stanway, Al Barrow and Harry James has impacted heavily on the sound. The Magnum sound is still there, but it's like they've slowed down and dropped the volume. Don't be put off, I bought it and listen to it a lot, it's Magnum and they are deeply rooted in my life. Hopefully I'll be able to experience the new sound live in the near future.

One of thier best :)

I've been a long time Magnum fan but since first hearing Kingdom of Madness on the Friday Rock Show in the early 80s; religiously buying each album on its release. However, after Brand New Morning I found the subsequent albums lacking something; each contained classic songs but also a few that didn't work for me.
This new album changes all that - it still has the story telling lyrics; the soaring melodies remain but with it a darker, rockier and more complete feel. Plus lots of changes in tempo and style through the songs.
One of their classics.
