I am always looking for great albums to workout to and stumbled across this album. I gave the tracks a listen and it starts off well but slowly goes downhill. I’m not really impressed with the tracks from ‘bad guy’ to ‘no tears left to cry’ because these are songs that you would hear on the radio, they have very slow tempos and not gym friendly. Also, the hip hop tracks like Ransom and Wow are just party songs you would probably here in the club. If you’re going to put these original slow tracks on the mix, then find suitable remixes that are fast and energetic.
The second thing I’m not pleased about is the no continuous mix, why have they discontinued this. This was mainly the reason why these albums are bought in the first place. In fact, Ministry of Sound have released an album back at the start of the year and the reason I didn’t buy it was because it was not available where I am. If that wasn’t a problem, I would have bought that album.
I previously bought the last album from this company, it was ok but still mainstream. However there were some tracks which were gems to workout to, the others just normal. In fact that album is what I use for doing work so it’s not hardcore gym stuff - disappointing for a ‘workout’ mix!
So for the new year, I would stay clear of this album unless you are doing house chores, to sum up the album, it is basically mainstream rubbish you would hear on the radio. What I can recommend is Ministry of Sound. If they don’t release anything, Pure Running is the last resort: you get three continuous mixes and the tracks are very high energy.
