According to the iTunes review this album/piece has been 10 years in the making. I almost wish I didn’t know this as it is so fitting for the disastrous year that we have all had.

The Financial Times review is really quite scathing of this album, giving it 3 stars only. It comments about the editing and manipulation of the Declaration of Human Rights for KiKi Layne to narrate, and yes, it is not a verbatim narration of the original document, what it does is describe the principles of human rights in a 21st century language that is absolutely relevant right now.

I will not describe each track as the iTunes review is very comprehensive. Personally I prefer the version with the voices but I appreciate the concept of a voiceless version.

I believe the soprano soloist is Grace Davidson, and what a majestic upper register she has, spine-tingling.

The orchestration is original and sublime, the clarity from mixing is excellent and the iTunes quality is brilliant.

The repetition of ‘all humans’ and ‘everyone’ really brings home the smallness of the human race, and how we are still screwing everything up. I wouldn’t describe it as a political piece, more of a reminder that WE are all that WE have, and WE need to get ourselves together.
