Best in a while

This really does sound like to TFF we knew from the 80's, it is so good to have them back knowing that they can perfrom together again happily
Best to forget 'Everybody Loves A Happy Ending' and move on, this new collection will not disappoint true fans

Perfect for this mad world

Wonderful song writing and craftsmanship. Mind you, I may be biased since I’ve been a fan since ‘82. However I love this album. 5 star.

A thing of beauty!

Amazing in every way.
I’ve got most of what they’ve ever done, and this is right up there with their best!
It’s hard to pick a stand out track because they are all so good.
Roland and Curt it’s so good to have you back!
Powerful music, well crafted by two guys at the top of the World and long may they remain there.
There are not enough stars in the Universe to rate this album, it’s simply incredible!

So far so good

Not sure how you can review an album on 3 tracks… but the three tracks so far are 2 similar and one a bit pedestrian. Love TFF - seen them 3 times and they are excellent. Interesting that on the 2 similar tracks it’s a joint-vocal. Sounds new in a way. Roland’s vocal power is always astonishing and a perfect complement to Curt. It bodes well for me that none of the tracks blow me away first listen. Usually means they creep into your psyche and embed themselves into your life. They don’t do disposable too well… thank a lord.
Ok updated now I’ve heard it, it’s great. But I hate ITUNES for altering the price 3 days after I bought it. Shameful behaviour!!!

Masterpiece of soulful Humanity

TFF set the bar high for expectations of great musicianship and this album delivers. Not what I was expecting but both melancholy and upbeat. A balance of the vocals on the tracks gives opportunity to enjoy the vocal range wonderfully applied to well written intelligent songs.Long long long time allows Curt to Sweep you along with a beautiful chorus, this track could have come straight off the Sowing the Seeds Album. To the uptempo my Demons with Mclarenesk thumping mix up and Roland’s straight vocals, excellent. A stand out track is Rivers of Mercy, packed with soul and heart. The world needs some TFF right now. We have missed these guys.

Oh my, Tears For Fears have never sounded Better!

Cannot deny that I am a huge TFF fan and have been waiting for this album anxiously since it was revealed some months back but hand on heart I can honestly say that bar perhaps one filler track 'End of night' this album is simply beautiful and stunning, comfortably bettering 'Big Chair' and even the brilliant 'The Hurting'. The first seven tracks especially worthy of 5 stars, sounding fresh and showing the world that the duo are songwriters of the top order. Superb but not my favourite on the album 'My Demons' has hit written all over it with a thumping, gyrating hook and chorus that will grab you and stay long in the mind and I'm sure will attract new followers to give this album a try. A sublime sometimes haunting album, please Roland and Curt don't let us wait another 17 years. I might not be around then!

Loving it..

… for those of you expecting this to be carbon copy TFF of the 80s, other than a few reference points, you’ll be disappointed. For those of us who love the craft of Orzabal/Smith as a duo, the way their voices work together there is plenty to love on the first couple of listens, and echoes of mood from The Hurting, SFTBC, STSOL, along with new ideas and a revisionary sound of 80s synth rock/pop. Faves thus far The Tipping Point, Long Long Long Time, Rivers of Mercy (epic), Master Plan. Off to spin it again

Nearly amazing

Good album, shame the 3 bonus tracks that are up for offer on some physical versions aren’t available here as I think these are better than some of the “standard” version tracks. Would love to hear more of the “broken” album that they ended up scrapping. I know Curt doesn’t like it but “I love you but I’m lost” is their best “new song” not on this album

The Boys Are Back In Town!

O….M….G! Blissful news……the two tracks so far are genius! This is shaping up to be a proper TFF album….. Update : Most definitely a TFF album, full of great songwriting, melodies and unexpected directions. Instant classic and not a dud track in sight! Oh and Number 1 on the chart (despite iTunes desperate attempts to keep passing off the Adele album as new) so I’m not alone in feeling the love for this album. Roland’s skill is so cruelly underrated, he’s the epitome of unsung genius in my eyes….

Back and back at their best!

The album doesn’t disappoint and delivers everything you’d expect from a truly great song writing partnership... please don’t leave it another 14 years!

Very poor and not TFF

They really should release this as orzabal and smith not TFF. TFF had a sound and this ain’t it. Bands do evolve also it’s true , so write some memorable tunes to go with it. Sorry this is just average. If you’re gonna bother to come back as TFF write the anthemic , catchy pop we loved you for. Who wants The Beatles to return to do an album that sounds like Prefab sprout? Makes no sense.

Back to the future

Love this song! Melodic, haunting and transports you back to the glory days of TFF for those that remember the first time round! I hope the rest of the album lives up to this. If it does, we are in for a treat.

Hauntingly brilliant….

Apart from a few cover versions that are hard to find and a couple of tracks released with greatest hits compilations, this is the first TFF material from an entirely new album in 17 years.
At this (tipping) point it’s hard to say if the new album will represent a serious return to form after their easily forgettable “Everybody Loves A Happy Ending” album back in 2004, but I have to say, the more I listen to this opening track, the more I have high hopes for the forthcoming album arriving in February 2022.
It’s been well documented that many of the album’s songs were written at a time when Roland was experiencing severe difficulties emotionally, with his wife sadly passing away under very difficult circumstances. As such I’m expecting some heart and soul searching lyrics alongside their customary memorable melodies.
For me, “The Tipping Point” is the most anticipated album of 2022. My only criticism is that if it’s ready to go, why do we have to wait until next year? Release it now!!!

The TFF we all know and love

Well if this song is anything to go by , then the album is bound to be first class . Ive seen them live many times . ‘ Songs from the Big Chair ‘ Royal Albert Hall gig , will be etched in my memory forever . Yes , Roland has a few more gray hairs , but just goes to show that these guys are are still at the top of the game after 38 years !
