A masterpiece that this band or any last decade, will struggle to top.

There was a lot of fuss about this year's Veckatimest but this album truly brings out what make Grizzly Bear such a unique, interesting and beautiful listen.
The album is more playful and less obviously baroquey, which paves the way for the beautiful vocals to meld with the instrumentation and the music to guide itself. Standout tracks are Reprise, which makes you understand why musicians always talk about the importance of what is in between notes rather than the notes themselves and the majestic On a Neck, On a Spit - a song with the full spectrum of musical colour.
An incredibly warm, intimate and earthy feel throughout the recording cements this album onto your consciousness. The best of the decade.

Great Psychodelic-style music

Very creative album - love the way they utilise the different instruments (inc their voices), and I just love their sound. I imagine the songs being played at a hippy gathering in the great outdoors. If you like the sound of hippy psychodelic music from the late 60's, early 70's - then Grizzly Bear' music is a must buy!

Yellow House

Grizzly Bear's second stab at a full length album goes beyond what was expected of them. Their previous work is characterised by a slow pace, a down-beat tone and (most noticably) a poor sound quality.
Yellow House has a sound distinct from any other. The songs constantly evolve; layers of vocals drift in and out of focus; the volume unceasingly fluctuates; cheerful melodies emerge from an intensely textured and sinister sound; the tempo will slow right down and drift to a halt, then sponstaneously pick up again. Yet, amidst such musical dexterity, the album is wholly consistant.
The album works as a movement. Accordingly, the songs are better appreciated when the whole album is played through. However, if I had to recommend particular tracks I would pick out 'On a neck, On a spit', 'Knife' and 'Little Brother', I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

This is a masterpeice

The songs have a musicailty, orginality and intelligence that stands out from the rest of 'indie' music.
