Damn you Louis Dunford
I only discovered LD a few weeks ago despite scouring iTunes every Friday for the new releases which annoys me as I often discover artists by chance in other ways. I heard Billy Flynn and looked up for more music and found the rest of the available work by Louis. This man is absolutely incredible.
He is an incredible storyteller as can be heard across his work. Billy Flynn has the sadness and the laughter with it and I’d love to know who he really is and more about him. I’m sure their story would make an amazing film.
Queer is gut wrenching and heartbreaking.
Lucy is laced with humour and the awkwardness of going from youth to adulthood.
Superman brings smiles of long forgotten nights out that are now fond memories.
The local is another reminder of the pub or working man’s club scene that I was brought up around and the stories of locals are all too familiar.
Louis has an old head on young shoulders and I suspect he has had for a long time. He appears to have experienced things most would over a lifetime.
The reason I title this review as I did is because I cannot get these songs out of my head. I’m waking up with them, I’m going to sleep with them, I’m singing them (in my head) through the day. It’s getting exhausting! lol.
I’m really looking forward to the rest of the album and what the future holds for this gentleman and hope the media embrace him as the great British artist he is.
Well done Louis Dunford! 👏
