Average album with two amazing tracks

Compared to other Rea albums this is pretty average. It does however have two standout tracks: 'Everytime I See You Smile' and 'Stick It' which is worth the purchase of Tennis if your a Rea fan. I have always found it difficult to understand why Rea never hit mega stardom. Songs like the two I've mentioned wouldn't be out of place in any great song writer's greatest hits. Rea has a natural talent for songwriting both lyrically and musically, his deserves a lot more credit.

40 – Love.

Chris Rea launched his third album with the title track riding a relentless drum & bass rhythm telling a tale of someone who doesn’t want to be disturbed during Wimbledon fortnight. There’s plenty of us that can relate to that!
Like a British Ry Cooder, Rea is not bound by narrow musical genres, moving easily through rock, funky blues & ballads to the Latino sounds & rhythms of ‘Since I Don’t See You Anymore’. One thing for sure is that everyone should own a copy of the hauntingly evocative ‘Distant Summers’.
Having never achieved the success that his talent deserved, Chris Rea’s musical legacy endures. He remains a well respected musician who can still produce an exciting show live on stage.
