Wonderful Artistry
Another superb recording by Alexandre Tharaud, full of ravishingly subtle tonal colour and brilliance. This amazingly inventive and playful music is something one never tires of listening to. Couperin was just a name to me, an 'also ran'
of the Baroque, but hearing this recording you realise he's up there with JS Bach and the other greats. The inclusion of
percussion and use of overdubbing on two of the tracks adds greatly to the enjoyment. Tharaud's playing is just
extraordinary, unlike many other pianists who merely give a conventionally 'pretty' account of the music. C'est formidable!
Bravo Alexandre!
