2nd underrated album

Just getting a few old albums I have on cd as I moved country and I must say I love everything MH have done but this and the burning red album are do underrated on both albums there's a fair few sing along songs like bulldozer what a tune they got slated some saying they where being something they weren't but people forget it was the nu-metal era still

Give it a chance, its a good album!

despite all the abuse it gets, its actually a good album. It may be a bit too industrial metal for some, but it mixes it in with their usual style and honestly, 11 years on, its still good. Ok mabye there are other albums i would purchase, but for a 2 for £10 deal at HMV you could do much...much...much worse...you could buy lulu for example....Please dont buy lulu....

It's machine head, enough said...

This is very unfairly regarded as Machine Head's career low point. This album sold about 250,000 copies worldwide! If you call this a career low point, then you're either a member of Metallica, or an idiot!

Supercharger

Machine Head's fourth studio album Supercharger was released in 2001 to a reaction of almost universal disapproval. The album has since grown a reputation as an absolutely awful album to avoid at all costs.
Personally, I think that this was a bit of an overreaction. Admittedly, the choice of direction that the band had taken (inclusion of rapping and nu metal influences etc) wasn't what anyone wanted from Machine Head. The band have since rectified their direction with the albums which would follow however, and I think a lot of people need to take a fresh look at Supercharger. People were too busy disapproving of Machine Head playing nu metal to objectively judge the actual collection of songs on the album and the album just became the sort of cool-to-hate album that people feel the need to stick the boot into.
The album is by no means the best Machine Head album, but nor is it the disgusting mess it has been made out to be. There are a few great tracks on the album, most notably 'BullDozer,' 'Trephination,' and the title track, all of which may contain some of the more distasteful calling cards of the time, but all of which also contain enough of the classic Machine Head style to warrant reinvestigation.
Even a few of the less classic Machine Head sounding tracks are fun and unobjectionable. While I may be defending the album, it is still worth pointing out that the lyrics are largely a little cringeworthy, the song structures may follow the quiet/loud structure that was popular at the time too strictly and there aren't the same caliber of guitar solos and dual leads to be found on newer Machine Head albums.
Supercharger is no masterpiece, that much may be true. I would really not recommend this album to be your first Machine Head album, but don't blindly write it off forever without judging it for yourself either. There are better Machine Head albums out there to be sure, but if you have already listened to them, Supercharger can add a few more decent tracks to your collection.

Wow...

This album isn't all bad but, this is not the Machine Head rawness we have come to expect.

Amazing

This is an amazing album, sure since then they have got better, but this is raw and just an album you must own turn up real loud shout and scream and get that blood pumping:)) My favourite still to this day of MH so far

Machine F.....

Such a fantastic album, yeah it's different to Burn My Eyes, yeah the production isn't brilliant. But like everything else Machine Head have ever done, it's different. They are one of the best metal bands of all time and this is certainly not a low point for the band. It's just narrow minded people that nay say this album, it is still heavy, it's still metal and it is still Machine Head!!!!

Massively Underated

This is the second machine head album i heard, and its still my favourite. I just dont understand how people cant like it. Its so raw, and proves you dont need guitar solos in metal (all the time). Its a lot more about flynns life, songs like American High and Blank Generation. Amazing album, dont get put off by people criticising it.

Honestly not that bad

After seeing all the metal elitists bash this album, I was reluctant to listen to it, but when I did, I realised that it gets a lot more flak than it should. It shows how Machine Head always let the new members have an equal amount of input - The first two albums with Logan have very sludgy, groove-laden guitar work, The Burning Red and this album are much more melodic and 'nu-metal' thanks to Ahrue, and their two most recent albums, TTAOE and The Blackening are much more technical and thrashy courtesy of Phil. A lot of people won't like this album, and if you want to get into Machine Head then start with Burn My Eyes, The Blackening or Through the Ashes of Empires, but the songs that I would recommend from Supercharger are Bulldozer, Crashing Around You and Kick You When You're Down.
