From the blippy opening of Imaginary Friends to the wistful last lines of Fishes on the Line, Dizzy Heights is a delight from start to finish. Ian Broudie's mastery of songwriting and producing shines through in every track, but none more so than the brilliant Sugar Coated Iceberg.
I bought this album on release in 1996, and even now it honestly doesn't sound anywhere near its almost 19 years. Iceberg itself still sounds so fresh, it's like the ink hasn't even dried on the page yet.
More genius from the pint-sized Scouser and his mates. (That's not a statement, it's a demand.)

The Last of the Decent Seeds Albums
Being one of the oldest Seeds fans, I started noticing a slight degradation in every album's release from Jollification onwards.
Dizzy Heights is still a worthy album to buy simply because of tracks such as: Ready or Not, Sugar Coated Iceberg & Imaginary Friends.
I must say however that for me, the best Seeds song ever written appears on this album. "Waiting for Today to Happen" is brilliant and that song alone is worth buying the album.
But with all of the mentioned tracks, I am not one to LOVE an entire album because of a few songs. The album makes the cut as an acceptable Seeds album and you will find it difficult to hate. But I get the feeling that you also might find it difficult to love.
Still, if you are looking to complete your Seeds collection, you should give this one a listen to.

One of my favourite albums
Dizzy Heights is the first Lightning Seeds album I bought, I loved it straight away and I still think it is their best one as well as being one of my favourite albums generally. It has a real feel good feel to it, being full of perfect, pop songs, my favourite track is Ready Or Not. It was this album that confirmed me as a fan of the band and led to me to buy all their others . Ian Broudie and Paul Heaton(Beautiful South) are my two favourite song writers of the 90's and among my favourite of all time.
