Quaristice and the pit

I think some other artists tend to release compilations of half gestated ideas or cues to use in soundtrack making and the like.
I also think Quaristice lives in that space; a series of seeds of tracks compiled in a way to allow resequencing or judicious re-editing to allow sense to be made of the clues, lest I the humble listener be led down another evolutionary dead end, which may of may not be the point.
The eps that accompany the album illustrate my point that Tankakern is a short version of Tkakanren that is far more satisfying in long form; in fact with tracks like The Plc and the humourlessly titled bnc castl it may be autechre’s witty attempt at a pop album, of course completely shorn of anything as formulaic as vocals, melody, structure or indeed sometimes rhythm.
I can’t help but think there isn’t a track on it that couldn’t be sampled/ borrowed/ ripped off completely by a production team under pressure to produce the sound of tomorrow for has been like Sailor Twift or Hairstylies.

What?

What happened? Where did the ground go? One minute I was exploring fascinating adventures into unknown places and now I'm stuck somewhere where gravity doesn't apply and heat does the opposite of what it does at home.
This album is so rich and out there, except I don't know where there is, so I'll settle for an uninitialised vec3 struct. There are fragments of home though - soft and friendly pads welcome me during launch, and a trip to an amusement arcade is definitely somewhere to be found, but I think it's all a simulation.
My advice: tie a piece of string somewhere safe and don't let go. And whatever you do, don't skip tracks or jump around the album or you will not come back in one piece.

Quaristice

Autechre have completely lost themselves, sad to see a once observant team of artists who produced evocative and forward thinking electronica, now reduced to making musical car crashes. Your not the only musicians producing such material and sadly not the last, but how this ended up being mastered and produced is still beyond me years later. Oh dear..

Quar-Is-Nice

Superb and like you would expect anything else. In response to one review, yes it is more accessible to listen to as apposed to Draft 7.30 or Untilted but far from different in structure. These two albums are immensely detailed and fascinating because of the form and scatty arrangements, which takes a keen ear to withstand the length of these albums for what they are. Quaristice reminds me of the emotions I felt with Amber, the sounds are more stripped back, the arrangement is more pleasing on the ear and very melodic. Fascinating listen and just exciting music. Demands Attention.

Their best album since Chiastic Slide

This is a more accessible album than the previous two "Draft 7.30" and "Untitled". It has more variation in the style and is better structured.
