Entertaining, Catchy and Educational?

What an album. The tunes stick in your head so well and the lyrics are pure genius and intellectual. This album to me seems like if you want to be a good person you HAVE to listen to this. Songs like "Thou Shalt Always Kill" and "The Beat My Heart Skipped' are just amazing and teach you as well as entertain you which is a winner in my book. Scroobius Pip's lyrics and vocals are absolutely top and are not beaten on anything and the music is different to normal hip hop but its great. The way the songs look at things gives you a complete different look on things (Tommy C...describing the way that Tommy Cooper died and how it was something amazing, wierd i know, but listen to it and decide).
This isn't just a must have for hip hop fans but for music fans in general, its just great music

So glad I stumbled across this album

The electro beats are generally interesting and enjoyable, while the lyrics are refreshing and profound.
It is always great to hear an artist whose views you can share in but more importantly finding someone who actively seeks to challenge the ignorant and naive status-quo in society.
Nearly every track tells truths that people should consider more often.

Thanks to an appearane on soccer am I bought this. 'waiting for the beat to kick in' is as clever a song as I would want to hear. Encore.

Believe there is no hype

I hate hip hop, I hate rappers, I hate people who review stuff. I like this album though. Enough to 5 star it. Not something I would never normally give a chance to something like this. Glad I did. Perhaps it's little quirks to the beats or the cleverly placed lyrics. This shouldn't work. It's too inteligent for it's normal target audience. Lovely stuff.

Don't believe the hype

I bought this on the strength of Thou Shalt Not Kill - big mistake. The lyrics are terrible and Pip's delivery becomes irritating very quickly. Some of the production is okay, but far from the inspired combination the single suggested.

Amazing stuff

I happened on Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius pip whilst surfing the internet. Heard Thou Shalt Always Kill and immediately downloaded Angles. I liked it so much I am writing my first review ever. I am not a hip hop or rap fan but this is something completely different. Every tune/poem/song is a gem. I am not often moved or touched by music of any sort but the lyrics are magnificently poetic and meaningful, rhythmical and Tommy C. Really well thought through and constructed. This Album got me going on the first listen. I completely recommend and commend it. Hats of to you Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip.

Awesome.

If you like UK Hip-Hop, you need to own this album.
If you appreciate really thoughtful, intelligent lyrics, you need to own this album.
If you think you know raw talent when you hear it, you need to own this album.
If you're wondering what England has to offer to breath life in to the ever-tiring, ever-unimaginative, ever-predictable music world, you need to own this album.

This album leaves all other current music obsolete!

As I turn 40, I don't really see myself as a regular hip hop fan, but then this is as far from regular hip hop as you can get! think of this album as hip hop for adults (or kids who think they are grown up, didn't we all, eh?) I ONLY listen to this album at the moment, and it fits when I play it in the car or walking down the beach, ankle deep in the warming gulf waters of Jumeirah, Dubai, looking at all the unfortunate people who have yet to discover 'the Pip and Dan'.

What a stroke of Genius!

I cannot get over how much i am enjoying this album. I have been a fan of these 2 since they joined forces, and this album is just a truely new genre of music, almost a poetry, with an awsome beat and mixing. I saw these 2 at Reading Festival and they truely made my weekend..got my shirt signed by Dan le Sac himself!!!!

First Class..This is a giant step for the rap/hip hop scene in the UK, completely original.

I stumbled across the album by pure accident but I am glad I did. This album is first class, completely original and something which will go down in time as one of the great albums.

Progression Is Their Intent

Best British debut since Lightspeed Champion. Best hip/hop album I've heard in a long time. Scroobius Pip's flow is so good you'd think he'd been at for a long time (he has). 'Thou Shalt Always Kill' is the best song on here but but no tune drops below the "damn good" barrier. 'Development' is another great combination of beats and lyrics. I won't go on about every song on this record. Just buy it - nobody else is rapping about Tommy Cooper

Fantastic

Bloody marvelous, just finished listening to it, puts a smile on your face and I will be showing all my friends now. It starts off like "Who's this bloke from Essex?" and ends "Never heard anything quite llike this! Lyrical genious! Pulsing beats!" well done, very well done.

Bloody Marvellous!

Intellegent hip hop with lyrics by Scroobius Pip that mean something, not just about guns, dick size and money and some cracking and eclectic beats from Dan le Sac. UK shows how it should be done.

quite simply....

superb!!!!!clever lyrics especially in "thou shalt always kill" from pip n with le sac dropping such great beats its nothing short of music brilliance.Scroobius pip says it himself "i shall not make repetitive generic music", and by no stretch of the imagination is this album generic, and even if rap isn't your thing (it certainly isn't mine) this album deserves some your time because it is nothing short of brilliant....

Originality at its best

With support from Fatboy Slim (who played a specially recorded version of Thou Shalt in his O2 Wireless headlining set), perhaps now Dan and Scroobius will get the recognition they deserve, Having seen them live unexpectedly at Reading they have quickly become one of my favourite live acts. Although not all of their energy can transfer to the recording, the album still sends shivers of recognition down my spine. If you are in any doubt of this band, see them live before you make your mind up.

Album of the year

Well good God damn and other such phrases, haven't heard a beat like this in ages!

I bought the 'Thou Shalt Always Kill' Single last year, and was so pleased to hear there was an album. After hearing 'Look for the Woman' so many times over the Radio, I knew I had to buy the album, and I wasn't disappointed.
Pip mixes heartfelt words, and makes them rhyme along, all whilst talking. This is no poxy spoken word act. This is talent, and it's here to stay.
If you know what's good for you, you will download it.

Evaluation:Fixed

Le Sac Vs. Pip... Fixing the lost art of hip hop for a new generation. Angster rap? Probably not, but this open heart flowatry has lyrics that run far deeper than a rhyme spat in anger on the spur of the moment. Skilled as a poet, Scroobius has made the transtion in fine fasion, while Dan's beats and mixing that differ for every situation provide so much more than just a rythm. The lyrics of this album will occupy your thoughts for weeks, and the Songs themselves will have you dancing for years to come.

Brilliant!

This album is amazing, Fact!
The lyrics are beautiful, deep, dark, honest and inspired.
The music provides the perfect backdrop and compliments the lyrics perfectly.
I really hope dls vs sp continue making genius records!
I've heard them compared to The Streets, f**k that, in mike skinners dreams!

Angles: Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip

I guess that it’s the Southend-connection that intrigued me. That, combined with the fact that when anyone has mentioned this outfit to me they do so smiling. Launching the CD the closest sonic comparison I can draw is that of a poet reading in a pub, spoken words, ambient sounds of glasses and bottles at the bar. Suddenly, just to let us know that we need to listen, there’s this fractured, mashed-up, busted-beat. And I can see now why folks are smiling. Reading the CD booklet, I note that Dan le Sac expresses thanks to music-software producers Ableton. I connect the dots; a couple of guys, a desire to do stuff, some samples, some beats and – most importantly – something to say. Indeed, a lot to say. This certainly is not a case of some aspiring, wannabee rhyhmer with nothing much to say but who’s going to say it anyway. This is about stuff. Dysfunctional characters from some social-worker’s case-file mix with meditations on what ‘beauty’ really could be. And whilst there are allusions to mean-streets New York, rap and hip-hop, there are no faux-American accents here. This is all said – or read - in the very best Thames Estuary English. And if your memory goes back this far, it could make you think more of Ian Dury than Mike Pickering.
Stuff like this just could make you glad that you are here and it is now.

Exeeds all expectations

I heard Thou Shall not Kill and thought that it was interesting, at the same time I felt that it was not an amazing track. When I saw the album was out I had the feeling that it would be a good fun listen but I never expected what I found. I was blown away with the depth of the lyrics and the intelligent incites made about life, even when the lyrics became a bit shaky, which was rare, there was the masterful beats from Dan Le Sac that kept me hooked, well done to the boys and I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to more material from them.

Clever Lyrics, Makes A Genuinely British Point.

As somebody who usually dismisses Hip Hop / Rap all the time, I thought this album would be complete drivel, but like most people the first song I heard was "Thou Shalt Always Kill" which was good but not the best. This album is full of clever lyrics and words you never even knew existed like "incandescant". Also extremely British, makes some great observations on society. Fantastic.

Simply excellent.

Ladies & Gentlemen, what you hear here is truly ground-breaking stuff. Lyrical mastery with both a sense of humour and brutal honesty set over a variety of diverse and often unexpected samples such as 'Planet Telex' (Letter...) and 'Big Beat' (Fixed). The energy of their live shows is kept intact in the recorded versions, although the vocal tracks occasionally sound a little more sterile and less spontaneous and manic.
From the gonzoid 'Back From Hell' to moving 'Tommy C', there's not a bad track on here.
Very, very highly recommended.

Seamless

Itunes won't allow me to download it, I've been trying all day - but the album has no such faults. Previous singles like Thou Shalt Always Kill and Letter From God To Man blend seamlessly with new tracks like the superb Tommy C - which argues that true love is pure laughter. The beats are good throughout, and Pip's lyrics are well delivered and pack a hefty punch.

Thou Shalt Love this!!!!

My M8 brought these two to my attention and im glad he did, lyrically scroobius pip is one of the best i have ever heard, i wouldn't say he raps, he just speaks his lyrics quicker than alex turner or anyother artist. Dan le sac meanwhile lays the foundations with simple but effective beats most notably in letter from god to man where he remixes Radiohead's planet teletext very successfully (one of the best songs). Look for the women includes both artists singing and is a beautiful song with meaningful lyrics. The beat that my heart skipped is stunning and will stick in ur head for ages!!!! This is a fantastic album including well produced videos and for the price u really cant go wrong!!!
