WOW!
Not sure why people are writing that this isn't as good as his previous albums etc. This blew me away. I hadn't heard of James Yorkston before - and this is the album by which I discovered him. So I have all of his others now - and they're all achingly beautiful. Each song takes you on a little journey. And I LOVE the lady who sings with him. God her voice is gorgeous and innocent. It's all just lovely.

Best yet
I've followed JY's music through the years, but he's reached new and incredible heights with this album. Listen to "B's Jig", "Temptation" or "Tortoise Regrets Hare" a couple of times and you have to be hooked. My favourite album of the last year, and probably the years to come. Give it a try.

beautiful
A big fan of Yorkston and this album sees him get better. Fuller production and sound only adds to his words which are at times wonderfully bitter and haunting yet at the same time uplifting. Temptation is a real highlight.

Nae bad at a'!
Not as immediate as some of his other work, possibly works better with others at the production desk. However, some strong stuff here and lyrically probably some of his best work to date. Can't wait till he gets to Aberdeen, my hat trick of Yorky gigs! See ya there xxx

Inspiration?
I have to say that first of all I love the music of JamesYorkston, i'm a real fan. "When the Haar Rolls In" is a good album, however, James's previous albums are all jaw-droppingly, hairs-on-the-back-of-your-neck standing-up, brilliant. This album has all the craft, wit, musicianship and talent of all the previous albums but just isn't quite as good as an LP. But it is still streets ahead of Coldplay et al.
