I am a fan of MCR and BVB, but I still love this album! I've had it for years, and it's always in my favourites. I know some people are disappointed with the way the band has changed, but I think they are just getting better and better.

I love this album, especially songs like I Want You and Manhattan.

The 1 star reviews are basically people who are annoyed that this album didn't sound the same as the three before it, there isn't really that much difference between the style of the songs on this album and the previous one, the recording quality is evidently better on this record though, the songs have a lot more ambience and depth. Stand out tracks are 'Closer' 'Cold Desert' and 'Manhattan'. A must buy - magnificent!

Haha people who think this album was bad are stupid!! One of the best I think! Radioactive was crap I must admit they have gone down hill since going mainstream but this album has some fantastic songs!!

yes they have matured. yes they have changed their sound. i loved their old stuff but to be honest this stuff is still pretty awesome. they may have changed their sound from raw and exciting to mellow and produced, but i still think it sounds good.

There is some good music on this album, and I like the way they make there own music. Very good : )

So their first three albums were very good, I loved Because of the Times, I think it's probably one of my favourite albums of the last 10 years, it's interesting, well put together and the sound is their 'own', ie it was original in many ways and it was nice to listen to something different from the generic altrock/pop that floods the charts. I wanted to like this album, but it seems to have been written consciously to get into the charts, and I don't begrudge the band members for ambition and wanting to make money, and I'm not saying it's necessarily always a bad thing to appeal to wider audiences, but I just feel by attempting to do this, KoL have fallen in the trap of producing a more generic sound that doesn't live up to their earlier 'organic' work, if that makes sense. This album still has some nice tracks, they're certainly catchy, and it's probably worth a listen, but unfortunately I can't recommend it in the way I could their earlier albums. And I should clarify I'm not a brain dead moron who thinks that bands should stay the same forever and cry about them going 'mainstream' or whatever, I understand that bands have to change and grow, just in my opinion, they've moved to a more generic sound, and I preferred their earlier more unique sound. I also think that many of the 5* reviews here are probably a little ott, like many album reviews on iTunes... This is absolutely not the best album ever, it's an okay/goodish album.

Really good

So many fans moan about how they are nothing like what they used to be, and how they have apparantly sold out. The last few albums have been brilliant, going 'mainstream' as the musically pretentious like to call it is probably the best thing Kings of Leon could have done. They are now worldwide and have songs you can sing along to. But yes I suppose they should have kept the minority happy and kept making the same music...

I love Kings of Leon. I have every album and listen to at least one track at some point every time I am on my iPhone. Well worth the buy, every track is great but my personal favourite is manhattan. The whole album is a great mix of styles and although it has a different sound from previous albums it still contains a creative and inspiring sound, something all Kings of Leon albums have in common.
