Hometowns
I first heard of this band through the Saddle Creek record label, who gave a free download on 'Don't Haunt This Place' in the weeks running up to the album release. Needless to say, that one song hooked me, and this album has over the last year become one of my all time favourites. Every song has well over a hundred plays in my iTunes library, which doesn't include all the spins from the LP version of the album and the CD version as well. The vocals draw obvious comparisons to Neutral Milk Hotel, but the music is much less layered and overblown than NMH. The majority of the tracks are driven by Paul Banwatt's drumming, Don't Haunt this Place is an excellent example of this. Stand out tracks are: Don't Haunt This Place, Edmonton and Rush Apart. Looking forward to album number two, which is being recorded now.
