Up there with the best!

I had never heard of Jane Taylor until a couple of days ago at a friends wedding. She performed an hour long set for the guests and we were all transfixed. Her singing is completely effortless yet so full of emotion that, like a previous reviewer said, it stays with you long after the performance. As soon as I was home I just had to download the album.
This isn't one of those artists that you need to try to get into, just have a listen and you'll fall in love with the clever lyrics, beautiful melodies and a unique sound that is Jane Taylor.
Highly recommended.

What a breath of fresh air

This album is just stunning. In every way. It's simple. Gorgeously arranged and it doesn't try too hard. It delivers 11 beautiful songs in such an elegant way that you get to the end and need to put track one on all over again. And Jane's voice has something about it that just keeps you there, rooted to the spot. Listening. It's incredible that she is not more well known, but I think she released this through her own label, Bicycle Records and there's not much money for marketing (which is what it's all about now!) so go buy this album and help her promote something that should be on EVERYONE'S shelf. The best Christmas gift you could give to those you love. And once you've got this...go get 'Compass' her latest album. You wont regret it. They're a pair that will stay with you forever. Promise.

The most impressive female singer/songwriter I've heard in years.

I first caught Jane's music years ago, completely unintended, in a small live music place called the "Folk House", in Bristol. She was solo with her guitar, and only had a short set as a support act for someone who I'd actually gone to see. I honestly can't remember any of the songs from the person I went to see - but Jane's music stayed with me. So much so that I bought her first mini-album "Barefoot" from her right there on the night. This, her second album, is brilliant. Jane is one of the few artists that make you feel as though she is singing directly to you through the speakers - and she has a really exceptional voice and style, that never fails to lift the mood. Clean, simple and beautifully arranged music, with lyrics that speak from the heart. I thoroughly recommend this album to anyone looking for some music to make them smile.
