Great to see them on iTunes

I too saw this band supporting Marillion back in the 80's, and in the programme I had a floppy disc that was a compilation of this album. Loved it and played it over and over again, until the floppy disc (remember those!) broke. I loved the sound and eventually managed to track down a vinyl of the album. Loved the album but technology caught up and all I had was a great vinyl album that I couldn't play. I paid someone a few years ago to transfer the vinyl onto CD, which they did, but the quality was poor. So, I couldn't believe tonight that I have just seen this album on iTunes - so happy to have it. I still have my vinyl copy but to have a decent sounding version is great - I love this album. Been listening to it (bits and bobs) for a very long time and have always loved it. Great album!!! Thank you guys - if you're still alive - for a great album.

King arthurs braves

I too saw Beltane fire support marillion in Nottingham in 1985 and I must say they put on one powerful show I remember thinkin I don't want this band to leave the stage from the slapping double bass to the searing guitar work and thumping drum work these guys could play and remain vastly underated I still have the album and 12 inch singles to this day great band great album

A missing part of my life has been returned!

I saw Beltane Fire supporting Gary Glitter at the Portsmouth Guildhall in the 80s. A bit like Matchbox meeting Yes up a long dark windy alley. I never thought I'd be able to lay hands on this album again. Oh joy. Oh deep and abiding joy.

Yes!!

I too saw them supporting Marillion and have long-regretted selling the vinyl version of this at a car boot sale years back. A bit 'rockabilly' undoubtedly but still a good rock album. Highly recommended.

At last!

I saw Beltane Fire back in the 80s supporting Marillion and was blown away by the enthusiasm these guys showed on stage. The concert programme came with a Beltane Fire flexi disc (remember those?) and soon I bought the album on vinyl. Relegated to the fact that I'd never get this album on CD, I lovelingly cared for the LP and was one of the few reasons I kept my record player all these years.
This is a good, thumpy, rockabilly type of music and even some 20 years after release, it has stood the test of time well.

Fortune Favours The Brave

If there was a list of great British bands during the 80's who's individuality and unique sound proved to be as much of a hindrance as it was a boon then Beltane Fire would right up there at the top. Originally starting life as Rockabilly band The Blue Cats at the beginning of the decade, singer Clint Bradley, guitarist Carlo Edwards, double bass player Mitch Caws and drummer Steff Edwards dragged the genre kicking and screaming into uncharted territory with the release of Beltane Fire's one and only album Different Breed through CBS.
With it's U2-esqe guitar lines, Stray Cat rhythms, rousing Big Country anthemic choruses coupled with a strong English lyrical narrative, Beltane Fire created a razor sharp hybrid sound that was unlike any of it's contemporaries. The opener Captain Blood delivers itself in great comic book fashion whilst at the other end of the scale The Poacher oozes both rage and serious menace. The material sometimes suffers from the primary colour mid eighties production that typified many bands of the time but thankfully, the strength of the compositions ensure that no lasting damage is done and the album lends itself very easily to repeated listens.
Ultimately, had Beltane Fire been formed and supported in the internet age, they might still be an active unit today. The good news is the band left a fitting tribute to it's own belief and strength character. It was after all what they were; a Different Breed.
