Upon their first EP, "Yes We Smoke Crack", Salem appear to sever the rules of modern music. Their sinister sound is almost illicit and, at times, unlistenable. Despite this, 'Frost' is still a daring and bold EP. 'Frost', the song, is a glorious hybrid of murky, raw electronic saw waves with a Hip-Hop / R&B feel, iced with innocent vocals that could be compared to a chapel choir. 'Legend' takes a deeper plunge into the 'Dark-Wave' genre, this time the vocals are morphed into a low and resonant hum. The song has a more neo-psychedelic soundscape but is still characterized by Salem's trade-mark gloomy and urban synth. An EP definitely worth buying.
