Saw Steve Mason supporting doves at the warehouse project, kinda liked it and so thought I'd try the recorded version to compare as the sound live wasn't great. Listened to two tracks and already very impressed, great voice.

Fantastic
Not many albums have made me want to listen again and again but this is superb. Seemingly effortless. Haunting. Strangely uplifting. Dark.
This is a special album, a magnificent effort.

I know a cool album when I hear one!
“I know a cool album when I hear one.” This is how a friend of mine and Heavenly Records owner described this album to me as we sat and watched Steve do an amazing set at The Park at Glastonbury on the weekend.
This is just a lovely album and yes is very cool. Their isn’t really a duff track on it and despite never really getting or licking The Beta Band who Steve used to be the lead singer of, I love this. Its quite trippy but with a nice folk slant, and his with thought provoking lyrics. Live he was brilliant and I would urge any one who likes this to make the effort to see him play it live.
If you are not a fan of Steve’s as I was, prepare your self for a genuinely big surprise and a well crafted and yes, very cool album. Love it.

Mind Blowing
This is what a Beta Band album in Demo Form would have sounded lke. A beautiful, peaceful and simply absorbing album for the voice of The Beta Band. Just a man on a mission. A simple mission of good song writing. Two best tracks in my opinion are The Letter and Lost and Found. A hidden gem of an album buy it you'll not be disappointed

A Genius Lost and Found
After reading the track names I expected this to be down beat and a little dark but it has the other effect. Sounds like acoustic King Biscuit Time wiothout actually being acoustic. Brilliant.

Boys Outside
This is just an amazing album, the songs are thought provoking and uplifting...I loved the Beta Band and I liked the subsequent solo releases under the King Biscuit Time and Black Affair monikers but this is something else. A career best for sure and a reason to buy an ALBUM instead of individual tracks. A work of art, a future classic.....Buy it now!

Excellent
Such a subtle and absorbing album. Listened to it constantly since getting it this morning. The reviews are spot on, it's a really great album and will hopefully get the recognition and audience it deserves. It's not remotely depressing either.

At last....
Steve Mason returns to what he does best, great songs done well. The production on this is a step up and really shows off what a great voice he has. The songs on the face of it are quite dark and sad but I actually find it all quite uplifting as the music is often quite 'upbeat'.
Fans of the Betas will love this but lets hope this time others also take note (it is getting good reviews)so fingers crossed.

A personal album from front man of the beta band.........
Steve Mason recorded this album after dealing with depression and a lot of the songs here feel very personal as a result, but it's not an album that makes you feel down. Not at all. It's just an honest album.
