Classic 80s Metal
I saw Crimson Glory when they supported Anthrax and Metal Church at the Hammersmith Odeon in 87 (when "I Am The Law" was about to go stellar), and being on the bill with two thrash acts meant that they stood out - because they were far more technical and classically metal in the Maiden, Priest and Queensryche mold. This album, if you like those bands, will hit all the right buttons. Operatic histrionic vocals, dualling high-pitched lead guitars, and a very solid rhythm section, playing some very fine music. This great show led me to this, and their next album Transcendance, and both are wonderful throwbacks to a time when bands doing maxed-out-Maiden-metal were not just cliched copists, but actually did some very good stuff.
None of the tracks are bad - strong through out - but Valhalla is a stone cold classic, as is the creepy balled acoustic Lost Reflection.
