Perfection

Thoroughly enjoyed Raphael’s timeless music. We are lucky to have a talent like him.

Stone Rollin' BACKWARDS!

What on earth is going on with music nowadays? It is the 21st century not the 20th century! Back in the 1990s music seemed to be going forward, we got introduced to Neo-Soul and Electronic Jazz but now we are in the 21st century and we seemed to have rewound to the 1960s - WHY!? What's the point. We've heard it all before. If I want to listen to Sam Cooke and Motown 60s. I will buy a compilation album from that time and not this album for instance. I mean what is Raphael thinking. He is much better than this. He is a talented bass guitar player and a fairly good vocalist and has always been able to naturally hold down that neo-soul vibe. But that vibe I am afraid has taken an awful dive with this album. There is no vibe and there is sure no soul in this effort. It sounds like a school project "A Tribute to 1960s Soul Gone Wrong". Well Mr Saadiq I give you a Grade A+. Much like Cee-Lo Green who is trying to sound like Solomon Burke and Mr Isley. He has failed the test. And Aloe Blacc who is trying to sound like Bill Withers. You too have failed. Leave it to the masters, to the teachers. Because you sound like students in comparison!

Good Man

Good Man is a fantastic bit of retro styling and just right for the summertime, it's beautifully produced, kinda laid back soul and so refreshing to hear something new with that vibe, this is just plain sublime magic, really thought it was of the past because the warmth and feel is just so perfect. I'll stick it between The Voices of East Harlem & Sly & The Family Stone.... BUY IT

Shame

To me the quality of the song ,'Movin on down the line' is too much Base? sounds Crap maybe I'm missing he point but it sounds naff on 7.1 sound system.I love the trak but I will look for a better Quality recording

oh dear!

I'm finding it difficult to understand what's going on here. I was very much looking forward to this album on the basis of some of his past work, and guess what.?.......I was thoroughly disappointed. It feels to me much like the king's new clothes! I do think the band are very tight and deserve the 2 stars given, but hey, those lyrics are terrible, and the music has a weird kind of watered down aspect to it; really derivative. Saadiq has the ear of people like Gilles Peterson at the moment and I can only take it they are being loyal because of his past work.....Just Don't .....buy any other tracks but no. 8

Brilliant

Love the song radio, I head them first on the jools holland show, the vocals are brilliant and like the other comment 'an infectious beat' is brilliant!!!

Raphael at his retro soul best

Great to hear Raphael Saadiq's follow up to "The way I see it" . He excels even more to capture the soul sound of the 60's but with an infectious beat. He is having a ball here with great tracks and a stomping band behind him. Soul as it used by Otis and Solomon. Outstanding
