There have been a lot of doubters when it comes to this album. Admittedly I was not too sure about JM's movement towards country, steering further away from the sounds the captivated our hearts all those years ago. However, 'Born and Raised' has successfully eradicated all of those fears and doubts for me. Yes it has ventured into a different sound, a more mature one at that, which was inevitable considering his vast back catalogue. I particularly love the fact that this album is a cross between perhaps roots blues and folk, merged perfectly to for such delicate tracks as 'Walt Grace's submarine test, January 1967'.
I particularly believed that Continuum was impossible to better and like the man said himself, "how do I do something better than Continuum? You do something completely different". I think he might have that with 'Born and Raised'.
I will most certainly be enjoying learning every intricate detail about this album for the forthcoming months and beyond, I hope everyone else does too!
