Merch Ado About Nothing
I first saw Gavin Osborn at the Leicester Square theatre last year where I was immediately taken by the charm and wit in his songs about . . . well its hard to pigeonhole what they're about as he seems to sing as passionately about lost loves as he does about his old touring van or his favourite Championship Manager player - this isn't a bad thing because its this love for the everyday stuff that makes you feel like you can get lost in his albums.
I own all 3 of his albums and I'd say this is the most consistent, it seems that marriage has invoked a nostalgia in his songwriting which really sets this apart from anything else I've heard recently - the warmth of Albert Went Out To See Rock Bands is ridiculous and life affirming whilst Over Thirty always has me nodding my head sagely like a hungry dog.
All the songs are great, towards the end Gavin even had me briefly check my sexuality with the humourous Brian Cox (I still love the boobies) and there's not enough albums excluding the angry rap genre where you have interludes like the first track While You're Up which is an ode to love and marriage . . . now time for a cuppa
