Brilliant but definitely right place, wrong time
I missed this album when it came out in 1983, although I did buy the Easy Livin' 12" single and liked that a lot, not quite sure why I didn't get the album... anyway.. in the wake of Fast Eddie's passing I listened to it and bought it and have to say it's fantastic, and quite why it wasn't huge is probably a case of right music at the wrong time. The Zep influences are all over this album, and in the early 80's Zep weren't as hip and cool as they are now. Why? Who knows. Once Bonham died and the band split you get the feeling that everyone thought the various solo projects were temporary and that, sooner or later, they would reconvene. Hence not many were looking for the new Zep when the old one was still, mostly, alive. Davy Graham has a fantastic voice and if anyone can do a Bob Plant, he can. Not that he does it every song, only when needed. You can hear perhaps why Fast Eddie left the 'head, he's an excellent player and possibly Motorhead didnt quite allow him to shine like this album does. Overall a fantastic album, not much like Motorhead but still rocks a good one.
