I wouldn’t classify this album as ‘jazz’ because Meshell mixes various genres into most of her albums. There is reggae, folk, soul and funk. This album creeps under your skin; it sounds timeless but at the same time it is very now. If you have the chance to see her live; that is even a better experience than a studio version.
