Jaxx are Back!

This is pure Basement Jaxx at their best. layered house rhythms with amazing vocals - the experience is only enhanced when you see them live!

Lead single = PROGRESS. Album = SAME TRICKS.

After fooling us into thinking that ‘Never Say Never’ was the new sound of Basement Jaxx, I returned to liking them once again. I hate to be negative, but their output over the past 8-10 years has been pretty much “same ole, same ole”, with the same sound effects, formulaic songs and tacky gimmicks.
I spent £11 on the deluxe CD in HMV, an I have to say that I am really disappointed. Most of the album is mustered up of fillers with annoying female vocalists and nothing different to their output from 2004.
It truly takes a lot for me to be negative in a review, but BJ are SO talented….so I don’t get how this album can be considered “current”. It’s a bad copy of Kish Kash if you ask me.
However, ‘Never Say Never’ is 100% an anthem, and there are at least 3 other songs on Junto worthy of another listening. #SHOULDHAVEBEENANEP

Ollie

Awesome from start to finish. Loved it from the first listen. There's hints of their old style but the majority of the tracks have a whole new sound to their older stuff..dare I say more commercial, but instantly likeable. Love the continuous mix too, works beautifully!

Another great album

Such a great mix of songs, bringing back some of their old styles but mixing them in with their newer style. Proper love it! Can't wait to see this Iive! #Junto

Fantastic

I've waited so long for this album to come out and it is absolutely brilliant. Really pleased with the new songs. Basement Jaxx are back at their best again.

Same old

I'm at once pleased there's a new BJ album but also sad because it's a carbon copy of their previous work.
Since Remedy and Rooty they have become less and less commercial and now seemed the right time to make an assault on the charts considering the garage house sound is big again and BJ often utilised the effects on previous songs.
The result is for me the same as previous albums, deep, playful and rhythmic but lacking the hooks so necessary for dance music
Check out Never Say Never and Love on Your Side however as these are the exceptional stand outs
