Amazing

This album is absolutely amazing, so much better than the first album. The power in her voice has got stronger and each song is different. Skeleton and anybody out there are my two favourites as they provide a melodic mixture that is magnificent. Gabrielle Aplin is a true inspiration and the album is definitely worth buying!

It's all right.

I've followed Gabrielle muscially since the release of her take on the Christmas hit, 'Power of Love'. Bought her previous album 'English Rain' and loved it to bits, but in comparsion I've got to say 'Light Up the Dark' falls short. I admire her new musical direction and don't think her art should be dictated by admirers (as is sometimes the case), but in my opinion a lot of the songs on the album sound the same. "Sweet Nothing" is a great song and the title track "Light Up the Dark" isn't bad either, so I'd recommend sticking to them and leaving the rest out, sadly. Still one of the top female artists out there, just didn't enjoy all of what this album had to offer.

Oh ...

I'm so , so disappointed ...
I loved her old album
' English Rain ' it was , and still is , the best , most beautiful album in the world.
I loved it's beauty , it's homely feel , the perfect mix of astonishing vocals and simple guitar and fiddle.
This album however , is different . The style has changed completely .
It no longer has the power to bring you to tears , to break your heart or to mend it . It is nothing like English Rain .
I'm so disappointed .

Yes! I discovered Gabrielle Aplin about 2 years ago now when I first heard her cover of 'The Power Of Love' and I just knew she was something special. Something worth paying attention to. I saw raw talent and artistry in her. I wanted to stick around and see what she could do for her own original material and I was even more impressed. This girl is an incredible songwriter. Just listen to the likes of 'Home' or 'Please Don't Say You Love Me' from her debut album 'English Rain' which I absolutely fell in love with the moment I heard it.
I can't wait to hear what she has in store for her sophomore. If 'Light In The Dark' is any indiction, I reckon she'll bring forth her Rock roots. I'm all for it. Such a talent, don't hesistate to support her.
