Hit the Button Maths is an app designed to help develop mental maths and calculation skills.
The app is aimed at 5-11 year olds. There are 166 different game modes of varying difficulty so it is useful throughout the primary school age range. Answer as many questions as possible in minute-long games, or you can now practice without the pressure of a countdown timer - a feature which is new for 2019. Questions are randomly generated which means it is very replayable. The game has been carefully designed for children, with large, widely spaced buttons. We recommend that young children play on a tablet.
Six main topics are covered:
* Times tables - up to 10 or 12
* Division - up to 10 or 12
* Square numbers
* Number bonds
* Doubling
* Halving
Between these topics, the four standard arithmetic operations are covered: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
You can create up to 30 player profiles per device to track an individual's high scores (increased from 15 in 2019). If you prefer there's also the option to play as a guest. All data is stored locally on your device so you don't have to worry about privacy issues. We've also made it very easy for children to quickly switch between profiles after playing a game, if they're sharing a device.
After each game, the score achieved is displayed along with the child's high score. Bronze, silver or gold stars and trophies are awarded depending on the score achieved in each game.

Peters hill games are fun to play but it helps them to be good at there times tables

Amazing all schools are missing a trick

Great idea but game freezes all the time!!!

Version 1.1.7
Fed up of my child getting frustrated when the game is constantly freezing!!

Is good but... ?

This game is ok but it can put pressure with the timer that can make it a bit annoying and you have to be a really really good person at handling pressure to play this game. Overall is alright. Would download.

Brilliant, Awesome, Educational

It’s really good and it and it engages us to learn. It is Awesome! Highly Recommend it for all ages. It records your scores so you will know what you need to work on. It’s worth buying. But Is it the real hit the button? The logo is different and the sounds are different it is like the online one but a little better but still if you are not allowed to buy this you can use the online one. Just type “ Hit The Button” and it will come up this online one is Free but I would still recommend this app because it’s really fun and Engaging.

Worst thing ever

At least give 5 mins!

My children have used this in school to help with their maths. During lockdown I have downloaded this on my iPad and iPhone. However the sound does not work on the iPad version. If the developers could fix this issue it will improve the user experience on the iPad.

This is great for school work!!

I am a good way through school now and i really enjoy work. I know most people hate it and most people love work. Hit the button gives you an experience and I’m gonna play it right now!. I have to
Revise sence we were off for two weeks,but i was happy.i also love literacy and writing and all that,but “hit the button” is the best learning education app!

It is a good app😀

Yeah, good app but it can get a bit boring for instance I completed the times tables activity and it made me do it again to beat my high score I got 50 and I tried to beat my high score so I'm saying this needs to get an update and doesn't need to be £3.00 other than that it's good check it out 👨‍🏫😷 stay safe

Love it

kamran tumber
I love it I don’t want to leave my screen

I love the game because you learn all your times tables

It’s really good!!!!!

Hit The Button Is Great

Stinky pants girlfriend
I’ve only had this app for 6 months and like SNAP!!! I am a maths master. If I were you I would get this app check it out and within 1 week you should be getting better at math. This app was recommended by my teacher. At first I was rubbish at math but now I’m great at math.

Good but not yet great

The app itself is good. It has given my son plenty of consolidation practice. There are trophies to earn but you cannot see the trophies except after completing the task. It would be nice to see which trophy has been earned for each exercise on the screen where the top scores are accessible, this would allow parents to guide kids to areas to practice a little more easily.

Ever since schools shut my 4 yr old has been bored to death because she hasn’t ha any schoolwork at all. So i looked u on the App Store maths games for kids . This was the first one to show up and it was also the only one with 4.1 stars . His made me tempted to buy . My daughter wanted it to. I got for her and no she wont leave her screen ! Sh has ben working mostly on her times tables , she used to only know her 2,1,5,10 Times tables now she knows every times table up to 11!!!! This app is amazing and i would recommend it to anyone .

Wow great

Thank you so much. Our son immediately started it.

Amazing, Brilliant, Educational

My 5 yr old really enjoys this game. The challenges are linked to the end of year 1 mathematics targets and some are for year 2 targets.
I was previously a secondary school maths teacher so I really see the benefit of this app.
It may seem limited in what it offers, but working your way through the challenges and watching your child gain confidence in each area, is undoubtedly beneficial.
My daughter is a excellent at addition within 10 but hates and struggles with the subtraction within 10. But this good, as with a little practise every day, I know she’ll improve.
Previously I’ve been hand writing the sums on paper for her, spending 20-30 minutes per day. but no more! This app saves time because it’s so effective, the timer means she focuses and doesn’t lose concentration, which also means she answers more questions in less time, plus she loves hearing the sounds, and seeing reward trophies.
This app is amazing , best £3 I’ve spent in a very long time.

Great but I have to figure out where’s answer

Hit the button

I hate maths 1234
This game is rigged and need to be banned

Hit the button

DashToDeath 1
It’s better then the online version because it counts you’re scores and has an untimed mode were you are not timed so you can practice your maths.

Hit the button

I love hit the button because it helps your improve your maths and learning . It makes you think. It makes you try improve

Has only one set of exercises

Good app, but has only one set of everything I.e. number bond for 10. Once a child finishes it should change but it always shows the same exercises.

Rubbish !!!

Could be better graphics and the layout pretty boring could be more encouraging to sit down and play it but great for learning maths

Hit the button

It is very good because it teaches me maths

Unmotivating noise

This is a helpful app but when they move up to a new level which is harder they inevitably get low scores and noises that suggest they’re failing, with an orange ‘try again’ and no stars. While it’s right to monitor their progress this is the complete opposite of how learning works. We should incentivise them to try something beyond their current learning and reward that - not just reward mastery.
My daughter feels discouraged and doesn’t want to try the new level when she’s achieved mastery of the first level.
Please amend the design of this to recognise what important process is happening when they keep trying.

So when I forget my times table I always come to this app and it helps me a lot 🙂🙃

Fantastically interesting way for the children to learn maths at pace!

The speed of this game and the way you choose the answers is fantastic. My children use it to sharpen and test themselves and I use it too for fun :) great game and great learning

Brilliant ! Please produce more!

I use Topmarks loads in school as they are excellent producers or web based learning games. This app is excellent, and I look forward to them making more if their online games in apps.

Nils no1 app
An excellent app! I've been searching for an app which would help my son whose 6 years old to prepare for his year 2 Sats and I've found the exact app for that purpose which is simply the best in the market. Worth every penny!

Great for learning.

Fantastic for ages 4 and up.

As a tutor, I've been using the online version a lot, but have now bought the app as in some homes I may not be able to get online.
I ask my tutees to use this for 5/10 minutes a day to brush up on number bonds and doubling and halving (essential for quick mental maths) and their tables. It's just brilliant. I can sit and watch them during lessons and see weak areas easily. The results speak for themselves. Once they have a grasp of a times table (by using the free, fantastic DK times tables app), they go onto this to improve. We also use adding and subtracting with increasing difficulty.
If your child needs help with maths then you will be doing them a huge favour buying this app. As for recording progress (mentioned by another reviewer), they do that by seeing how many they get right in a minute. Their progress is shown to them by beating the score and by knowing a lot more than they did before.
Seriously great and I'll use it all the time.

Excellent app, does what it says on the tin!

I would have rated it 5 stars if you could have enough player profiles for the whole class!

Fairly good

Doesn't show progress over time which is actually the best way to encourage kids to keep trying.

Addictive and fun

My kids love hit the button, they couldn't put it down. Love the player profiles feature so they each have their own high scores.

Hit the Button is a Hit

Great app which my son aged 8 really enjoyed playing on the iPad and found it very easy to use. He needs to improve his times tables and I think this app has already helped as it's a fun way to learn. He even asked to play! It is well designed with clear menu choices which increase in difficulty. There's six different types of game in all so I think this app will help my son's mental maths generally and be useful for a few more years yet.
