Ordering made easy in our cashless society!!
Tables need resanding , floor needs a clean and it’s a 20 minute wait for a drink! Lucky to get two stars.
Disappointed have 😓have i phone 6 on 12.5 but wont update because its not 13 so wont work and I won’t play there game of upgrading
What a great idea this app is, it could help a lot more businesses cut costs if they open their minds
EVERY TIME!!!!! REALLY?
Friendly helpful staff good selection of beer and reasonably priced food always clean and tidy
Good app generally and brilliant when its busy but does need a few tweaks when it comes to customising your order ( eg my daughter likes pineapple on her pepperoni pizza but it isnt one of the options available) so quick easy and convenient why wouldn’t you use it..?
I was on my own so could not keep the table whilst I ordered at the bar, so used the app. Really quick and easy to order and I could just wait at my table waiting for it to come.
Good when it works, but doesn’t work in all locations all of the time.
Items out of stock make decisions difficult.
Better than a queue at the bar though…
This is best cheapest I ever have!! 👍🏻
Horrific. A man touched me in the toilets and I was harassed by bar staff about my small eyes.
Good pint, terrible food, breakfast came out cold and rubbery, difficult to digest . It’s been inconsistent in the Bridlington weatherspoons for food, sometimes it’s okay and other days you get eggs that are warmed up in a microwave, the warmest thing about the breakfast was the plate. The building is beautiful but I think you are in need of proper kitchen staff. Last time I eat here.
As title, easier than the paper menu
Very quick with that app , 5 Star's
My phone doesn’t support above, so app no longer works. Will not now be visiting Wetherspoon. Sorry Tim
Enjoy the open aspect of the pub, ie sitting in the window, very much like a café
So many times I’ve come for lunch and your out of stock of food, silly excuses given for this which is very disappointing. Also being served G&T in a tumbler is a joke and unacceptable especially with your price increase.
Normally I find a table then order on the app . Saturday I was denied this privilege as you a have updated the app which means that us oldies that don’t continually up grade your phone cannot down load the new version .
Disappointed as in Carmarthen the bar is on the ground floor I had to carry the drinks up the stairs myself despite asking the staff if I could have drinks taken to table .
Table device is only for the young at this rate
Called at Bingley Wetherspoons for a couple of drinks & a meal. Food, drink & service were fine, but my wife went to the ladies toilet & said they were disgusting! One was full of paper, one out of order & the other stained & smelly. Not what we have been used to in your toilets.
They are supposed to be checked regularly, but she went again after we had eaten & they were no better.
Disappointed! We will return as we enjoy Wetherspoons pubs, but if no improvement we will give this one a miss & pass the information to friends & colleagues.
Always pleasant staff, good food and proper pint 👍
Great app works well with data or WiFi.
Would be a nice touch to be able to customise your order similar to McDonald’s
I have an I phone 6 and always used my app. Now the update won’t work and my app won’t load. End of the road for me ordering on my app. I shall miss you weatherspoons!
Takes too long to bring our drink!!!
I would give 4 starts but I’ll settle for 4. There’s always room for improvement
great place for food and people watching
Love the food offers and drinks - great on my budget - thanks
It’s a good app and really easy to use. The only reason for three stars, is because you can’t edit food take stuff off
Hi thank double please burger cheese
May I ask that my review be conveyed to the team that were working tonight.
Fantastic team who dealt with difficult issues and still treated me as an individual in a great way
My thanks to all
Unfortunately, the lady could not give me a satisfactory answer about why the cod was not caught wild in Iceland.
Apart from that, logo could represent weatherspoons better, but works ok.
Cod was slightly over cooked and had too much batter. It was also a little too oily and they were a bit stingy with the chips. Peas were slightly undercooked.
Toilets were a little smelly but the place overall had a nice atmosphere and i didnt get id’d
Easy to buy drinks… less easy to write a review.. because of the drinks…
This new app won’t work on my phone and I can’t download an earlier version
Wi-Fi don’t working for menu
App freezes in payments
Annoying that I COULDN’T buy a coffee at the bar upstairs
I stood so long at the bar without being served so I went back to the app-this is a great way to purchase your food or beer
All good but don’t put the warm salad under the meal heater if it’s got fresh rocket leaves on top
Great menu and cheap drinks for us contractors
Yeah was alright
We are staying at the crown in Biggleswade whilst working down here. The variety of food is fantastic, the food is tasty and excellent value. The accommodation is clean, homely and the bathing facilities are great ( the power shower a favourite of mine). We have stayed in a lot worse for more money than we have paid here. 9/10 .
Quietly surprised at the prices better than I was expecting so had an extra pint! Food don’t look bad either👍
Excellent can believe it’s taken this long
Best value food and drink with great variety country wide. Airports more expensive but airports are I suppose.
Good service friendly staff , food ok, good work guys!!
Not a fan of spoons, 1 star out of 5
We love weatherspoons food is very nice everyone is polite everything is so reasonable priced the only thing is the app only works on WiFi not on data witch is very strange apart from that everything else is perfect
Fantastic staff friendly service
Supa dupa place great service prices and atmosphere 🥖🧈🧆🥨🥞🍖🌮🍕🧀🧇🌯🫔🫓🥚🥪🥓🌭🥗🍳🥙🥩🍲🦪🍥🍧🍰🍛🍤🎂🥠🍿🍩🍪🌰🍬🍭🧁🥧🍡🍢🍘🍚🍱🥟🍣🍻🍻🍺🧊🍻🍷🥜🍸🍷🥛🧉🧃🥄🥂🧃🧂🥢🥡🧊🍴🍽🥣🍨🥛🍨🍪🥮🍪
You can’t knock the Wetherspoons. It’s still very popular with old folk and families. A great local hub for all to come for a hearty breakfast or for those who need an early pint to take the edge off the day.
Kids seem to enjoy themselves too. Nothing better than to spend a morning eating and bonding in the company of your own family.
On several occasions I’ve been spoke to by a member of staff who swore called me stupid saying all tables had a number in when I ordered food this particular one didn’t called me
Stupid nob head to another waiting customer who was a partners neighbour who explained what was said. I then left. Then tonight another separate night I feel I don’t want to be served by her as the attitude Is disgraceful in a customer service environment.
I’m in tonight and the same member of staff is having a very rude and disrespectful time and manner with a group of women on a works do. This is why the issue is now been raised I’ve been 3 times whilst she is working and each time something l. Large coloured young women. Tattoo on top of back behind neck.
I have genuinely walked out before my interaction and tonight as she was the only person behind the bar.
Sorry this has to be brought up but feel it’s detrimental to the company.
Writing this while waiting for my order so see how far I get! I’ve used the app before which is great when there is only one of you as you don’t lose your table while ordering at the bar. My first choice of mixed grill was not available on Saturday lunchtime which was disappointing (hope they have a delivery before tonight). Turf and surf not a bad second choice so let’s hope it’s as good as it sounds. Really fancy a sip of Guinness now, hope it won’t be long..... ten minutes since ordering and getting thirsty, pub looks only about one quarter full. Guess they are limiting numbers due to covid. Nice to be able to sit inside (or outside on a summer day like today) ..... 20 minutes and no drinks yet, getting hungry now too. Only an hour lunch break, hope it comes soon .... foods arrived after 24 minutes, looks pretty plain (no garnish or veg). It is what it says though .... food nice and hot, steak good for budget choice. Scampi nice and hot, a bit of tartare sauce would be nice! ... half an hour and still no drink, boy I’m sweating now.... 33 minutes, drunk arrived with an apology. Server very polite and obviously his best .... definitely 8/10 score (and that’s because the sun is shining). Note to Tim Martin pending the expected full reopening after covid restrictions end in 2 weeks time, maybe an idea to employ some EU staff to fill the shortages? Oh 🤔
This app has turned getting a drink into a difficult, painful process. It is slow, unresponsive and will prioritise asking you for a review after every order which will sometimes freeze the app and phone.
What could be a simple task of waiting in line or having actual decent table service has been turned on it’s head into an annoying and near useless service. What adds insult to injury is the lack of phone service in the premises making the use of the app next to impossible.
As customers we generally don’t mind paying a little more for high quality food drink and drink and depending on what we can afford for some of us this is a lot more.
When you don’t have much money or are in a low income, going to a pub is a restrained affair. The prices normally limit your involvement of eating ad drinking out because the quality rarely matches the price or there is simply no budget option of basic pleasant grub at an affordable price, making must dining out experiences exclusive.
Wetherspoons won me over once I realised that they provided the basic rest, hydrating and nourishment that anyone on the road or down on their luck or on a low budget might have required in any age.
They allowed me to feel normal when homeless and jobless and gave me the rest and food and drink I needed to get back in my feet and when I was earning again, be able to enjoy a meal and drink out with friends. It doesn’t have to be a gastronomic up or a fancy place by it fuffills the age old tavern experience for all who need it and the drinks are fine, the operation usually smooth and the buildings varied and pleasant.
Thank you for being there as a warm and reliable service when few other independents cater for a lower budget customer.
What an absolutely lovely day spent at the Pavilion in Ramsgate. We travelled from our weekend stay in Margate principally to visit this destination pub. The rooftop terrace has ample space to feel free and easy during this ‘unlocking’ period and the views from either side of the terrace did not disappoint. The chilled bottle of Prosecco went down well followed by rum doubles and whatever else we fancied as knowing the amazingly reasonable prices will never break the bank. Not bad for a twenty fifth wedding celebration, going by this my newly accessed draw down pension should last until I eventually pop my clogs. Thank you for a brilliant concept and business model.
I was appalled by the young man at the door, I understand that the covid regulations are putting us all under pressure but was upset to be rebuked by staff as my 3 year old daughter ran into the venue my partner chased after her while I waited at the door to fill in the track and trace form which was absent and so I had to wait for the young hitler to sign me in on a scruffy clipboard. I eventually met up with my partner and chose a table only to be confronted 5 minutes later by said young hitler who informed me that we qshould all have waited in the cold lobby until he was satisfied he had my contact details. I politely explained to him the difficulties of parenting to someone obviously to young to grow a beard let alone children. All in all not a good start I must say I like this Wetherspoons and have always been received well in the past
I asked if I could swap onion rings for a side salad ( which I have done many times over several years) only to be told, no, you can’t do that. The supposed manager that I was talking to was very arrogant to the point of being rude. He completely ignored that this was what I usually did and just kept on saying we can’t do that. Harsh, immovable attitude. Certainly not customer friendly. Funny too that my husband and I have been coming here for several years and never seen him before. He says he’s worked here for 3 years? Hmmm. Where is the real manager? Get to grips Weatherspoons! Are you doing so well you can turn away loyal customers?
I have been in three of your pubs this week and all of them DONT encourage you buy a guest ale, let alone view at the bar or taste one as you have your mask on. Your new real ale promotion will go down the drain with a lot of your real ale and the local breweries will suffer. You need to find a way to highlight your ales, encourage punters to try them and buy them. You need a large point of sale at the entrance or a A3 like your meal promo on each table. Speaking to two of your duty managers they say they are 60 & 80 % down on ales. I rest my case! Good luck from an ardent Wethers supporter!
Hello there , the system is ok for young people or people who are dealing with their phones all the time, but my mum almost was going to leave the place when she realised that she have to order though the app.
I understand that it’s much easier for the member of staff, when the pub is busy, but if mum wasn’t with me ,she would go to the other place to have her lunch! I must admit when I was asking for assistance the young girl at the front door ,she was absolutely fantastic! She even helped me to download the app as I wasn’t sure how it looks like the actual icon ! I am so happy with the customer service! Hope better days will come and will become even easier for customers to order!
As a disabled person I used to dread having to go to a bar and wait. I walk with an aid and standing for more than a few minutes is incredibly painful for me.
Now I don’t need to worry, I just wander into my local, find a table and order whatever I want. This has completely transformed my experience of pubs and been a revelation for me to not be afraid of going out and having breakfast with friends.
The penzance team have recognised the advantages this brings to a disabled person and Matt and Jim positively encouraged me to try it. Brilliant app, brilliant staff, brilliant product. Thanks Tim.
After placing my order on the Wetherspoon’s App, I sat back and waited. And waited. 15 mins after placing my order I was served my food - usually the drinks appear first - but not today.
The ‘hot’ food was stone cold. Luckily as my drinks hadn’t arrived I knew that a server would be back, eventually. So I said that my food was cold and the server took it back to the kitchen. When the food arrived back - without any apology- it had been ‘reheated’ - the chips had been put back into the fryer - and although now hotter, they’d been over-cooked.
When I had placed my order on the App, there had been a choice of two real ales - but the App had informed me that one was “out of stock”, so I ordered the other one. However, to add to my experience, and what else could go wrong? The second real ale was unavailable!
Besides that and a server occasionally arriving at our table several times with food for other tables ...!
Since starting to use the app, everything has been fine. Only used it in one location, so this could be down to the the good level of staff at the William Stead in Darlington. The only complaint I have is that I cannot register a bank or credit card, meaning ever time I order a drink or food I have to put all my card details in again, I use this on a iPad, rather than a phone , if this makes a difference I do not know.
Apart from that everything seems to work ok, some people who have complained about having to wait a long time for service, I think that is down to the local management of the establishment, not the app.
I don’t often use the app which seems to work ok however I greatly dislike the way the orders are managed in my local Wetherspoons The Sir Henry Tate Chorley. I have been waiting patiently at the bar to purchase 1 pint of beer for over twenty minutes while the bartender prioritises every order received via the app before finally serving me this is despite orders seemingly having been placed long after I first started waiting at the bar. It seems Wetherspoons has a policy of employing a skeleton staff at all time’s of day and I sympathise greatly with the staff and the never ending tasks they are given however having been left stood at the bar with the one member of bar staff taking electronic orders via the monitor screen with no acknowledgement “Sorry about your wait Sir” or “Ill be with you as soon as possible” etc is at very least disappointing.
This app used to be amazing, but every time I go to use the app recently it comes up as “menus unavailable”, although people around me are able to see the menus and order from the app. Therefore the past 3 times I’ve gone to spoons, I’ve had to delete and redownload the app to order, only for the same thing to happen another day the next time I go. When I redownload the app it works perfectly and I can see all menus and make orders again so I don’t understand why it’s happening as it never use to.
It’s disappointing as my local spoons has no signal so I have to go outside to redownload the app as the WiFi only works for the app and there’s always a huge queue at the bar. Apart from this the spoons app is amazing!!
A great future update would be the ability to take items out of dish orders as it would be far easier for eaters.
Must admit my mate uses this and I thought it was lazy and not convinced it was easier especially seen as it took forever to arrive..HOWEVER being left with loads of bags when we arrived on holiday and the girls disappeared, it was great.. I ordered my cup of tea and didn’t have to be trying to watch my stuff and bless them, was lovely when she bought it over. Today I couldn’t decide so I ordered hers and drinks and while we waited I ordered something on app.. it was disappointing when everything I fancied was out of stock but also handy to see straight away and look up something else whereas I would have gone to bar to order only to find out and then either hold up queue or walk away and queue again.. I am glad I’ve downloaded it, I still prefer to go to the bar but when it’s awkward, this makes it possible!
Ordered a chicken burger & irn bru via the app & got conformation email, after 30 mins wait I asked one of the managers what was happening to my order, straight away she said “the waitress had tried to deliver it but no one was at the table” I told her I had never left the table & she reiterated that they had tried to deliver it then left and waitress came back after a few minutes with my order minus the drink which when pointed out came with the drink.
Lady sitting at next table said the service in here is shocking isn’t it.
I accept mistakes are made but to be lied to about the reason is really annoying honestly is always the best policy & I would have happily accepted the real reason for the lateness.
I will not be using this method of ordering food or drinks again & will not be going back to your Dunfermline establishment.
Myself and a mate signed up to the app so we could order the food from table. (918) in the globe Kings Lynn. Bearing in mind this is the 1st time we have used this option we have wasn’t able to adjust the drinks order on the app. The guy that brought out the drinks who now I am told is the one of the duty managers delivered the most appalling level of customer service I have ever experienced in any restaurant. We basically asked if there was any chance we could add some lime to the pint of fosters. He said No they had already been poured and if you wanted lime you should of made your order at the bar. You should do that next time. He was very rude and wanted to turn his back on us as quick as he could. I made a complaint to the other duty manager but as they are at the same level I suspect he didn’t even discuss the complaint with his colleague.
Not a very happy customer and unlikely to visit hear again.
I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic, he could save others from death, but not himself.
Food and drinks was good. Cheap and cheerful.
I've always enjoyed great service and food/drink at a Wetherspoon pub. But now they have this App where I can order whatever I want from the table !! And generally it's even quicker than if I went to the bar myself. Also handy as these pubs get so busy you can sometimes get back and find some group has nicked your table !! The app is so simple to use and it remembers your previous orders too. I am now about 63 years young, and even I can use it. As far as I know this us the only App available in U.K. Pubs. It's the absolute nuts !! Gotta go, I need to order another Stella . He he he!!
Ha ha, incredible, this is the review I submitted over 2 years ago, and I still stand by every word, and even better, this is still the only pub chain with an App like this!!!!
I went into Wetherspoons 2 days ago having used the app before with ease. But this time the app had updated and was running very very slow and I was becoming impatient because it had taken round 20 mins to put something in my basket. When I went to pay I tried to use my Apple Pay and it supposedly didn’t work and kept everything in my basket, so I tried again and the same thing happened, no order number or reference number appeared to say I had paid. So I then entered my card details manually and it finally came up with my order and reference number and my basket had been cleared. So we wait for our food and they brought 4 drinks over when there was only 2 of us so we questioned it and apparently my order had gone through 3 times bearing in mind I ordered a pizza too so for my order to have gone though 3 times it wasn’t cheap. But they reassured me I could be refunded but I have since checked my bank and they have taken the money out for food and drinks I didn’t receive! It was the apps fault as it told me there was an error when there wasn’t and I had paid the first time!
Visiting Durham for a few days we ‘searched’ for the nearest ‘Spoons (as you do) and found this one literally on the doorstep. Clearly popular with the student population but also our age group middle aged (or thereabouts) and families alike. We’ve had some lovely food, through the day and on an evening; enjoyed the lively atmosphere and been entertained along the way. Shame on thoughtless parents allowing small children to run around while the generally young, and busy staff, try to do their jobs delivering hot food safely 🤐🤐🤐 Very happy to recommend ‘Spoons food no trendy bistro meals for us; it’s “Let’s head to the nearest ‘Spoons” every time!
I have experienced two managers on two separate occasions in the Ralph ritz Randal being extremely rude, on the first occasion my interaction was with a female manager who argued with us about or order only to come to realise that the individual who took our order was the one who made a mistake but continued to be rude even after realising this, even laughing at us with another member of stuff. On the second occasion I simply pointed out to this staff member that this was the fourth time me and my friends were being asked for ID even though having showed it and being authenticated each time, to which he replied rather rudely ‘well I’m a manager so’ and once again laughed in our faces and we then overheard him gossiping about the incident with another member of staff. On both of these occasions I feel me and my friends were judged and patronised due to our youth, however on both occasions we have been respectful of the establishment. However all other members of staff have been perfectly lovely so I feel the issue lies within management.
Twice now I have used this app, 1st time to order food and then to order a beer. On the 1st occasion my food turned up, but because I was at the bar ordering an ale that I couldn’t order on the app when the food turned up, it was taken away and was never to be seen again. Surely you would think that the waiter would try again a few minutes later as who would order food and not actually want it. Eventually I had to wait 50 minutes for my food, utterly ridiculous. On the 2nd occasion I ordered a beer which was poured and handed to the waiter, he never gave it me and 15 minutes later with no beer I had to go to the bar to finally get my beer. Waiting behind a queue of punters ordering food when all you want is a beer is why I used it on this occasion, more fool me.
Excellent.. quick to set up. Easy to use ... means one can take one’s time to choose and order ... no queuing 👌🏿...drinks part of order came in under 3 minutes ... wow that is mega service ...and with a smile ... thank you. Pudding in under 6 minutes thank you once again.
Downside no refund on parking voucher ...today we are at the George in Wanstead. Refunded with no problems in cash👌🏿 thank you a quick solution.
However why do the parking firm and whether-spoons collaborate and add a number to parking voucher which the customer could enter on the app while completing their purchase then this would also ensure that the customer has to undertake the minimum stipulated spend before redeeming voucher.
On the whole though I love the app and will be using it regularly now ... no more queuing at the bar ... yay 😁
Great app, really useful, but it could use a way to personalise food and drinks more, you can add things to orders but you can’t remove anything, so for like ordering burgers I have a friend who is allergic to tomato and there is no way to remove it through the app.
Also when adding stuff to anything like burgers or pizza most of the time if you add multiple things onto more than one pizza there will always be someone coming out to ask which add on is for what pizza and when we add lots of things to our food, even though they come out and ask there is usually something still wrong.
Also with drinks there is no way to remove ice from them.
Works well (nothing quite compares to it in the catering sector for effectiveness).
But: It's a pity the filter function doesn't permit viewing the other dietary options Weatherspoons has prepared - gluten free in my case.
I couldn't see it noted elsewhere.
The generous 'drink with this meal' (includes non-alcoholic choices) doesn't seem to get flagged for the relevant meals in the app., unless I missed something. It is flagged at the end of the process (although at least once I accidentally skipped it, in ignorance).
Finally, as Tim bombards the tables with Brexit propaganda, it maybe he would give us a vote on whether we can drink up in a Brexit Free venue (and even a People's Vote - because of we crash out I won't be able to afford even Weatherspoons!)
As usual there is too much ice in the drinks, which is a recurrence at this restaurant. I ordered the chicken wings which were great. They came nice and hot with a lovely sauce to accompany it. However I was disappointed when my main meal came out and was only was stone cold. The meal had clearly been cooked left sitting and reheated in a microwave. I find it laughable that the kitchen staff were unable to reheat a meal adequately in a microwave despite this being a practice no kitchen should partake in.
Sadly this happens all too often at this establishment. I unfortunately not for the first time have received dirty cutlery and plates. The staff got the benefit of the doubt from me the last time this happened. However, this was the final straw.
The compensation I was offered was a replacement of my meal which I declined as it was so bad that it firmly put me off my food. They then tried to offer me a free pudding which I found laughable as I hadn’t even managed my main meal so why on earth would I want a pudding?
The Golden Acorn in recent years has gone from a nice family friendly environment to go and get some nice pub grub. However it is no longer a place that people want to frequent for food as compared to other restaurants in the JD Witherspoon’s franchise this ranks amongst the lowest for food and drinks.
For some reason, the standards on Thursday 25/10 were the poorest I have ever witnessed at a Wetherspoons. First visit, fantastic accommodation were spoiled by a total breakdown in service inside the pub. We arrived at 6pm, and from that point until 9pm there was a clear understaffing issue with virtually every table uncleared until a new customers food arrived necessitating it being cleared away to get the plates on the table ! The queues at both bars were never huge but you had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to be served by demoralised and disinterested staff who had to keep disappearing to fetch new supplies and glasses from elsewhere. The hatches and glass clearing areas were littered with empties and the total experience was sad to say terrible, which was such a shame as the place itself is terrific Please let's do better it deserves praise and support !
Food arrived after 8 minutes but no drink. I was told by the waitress that drinks get brought to the table from the bar staff. I asked her to check my order with the bar staff. After 12 minutes still no drink. I asked the same waitress if she checked with the bar and she hadn’t. She went and got it herself and with no apology at all. I thanked the waitress but I was disappointed with the bar Staff who ignored my order and the waitress who was careless enough to forget my request and then even more so not to apologise for the delay. I might have understood if it was a large drinks order, when in fact it was only a single coffee mug for me to serve myself with! Better management of the bar would ensure that drink orders are dealt with promptly and drinks served before the food arrives. Otherwise the App table service is not the great customer experience that it could be.
We often eat at Wetherspoon and have never had a cause for complaint, until today that is.
I used the app to place my order, being in a wheelchair make the process so much easier, and it was. The problem was with the girl who brought our order. I asked if she could bring us some cutlery and a couple of glasses of water. Her reply was “you can order water at the bar & cutlery is over there”, pointing to where is was. She was already walking away as she said this and I had to call after her to point out the wheelchair. She did bring the water & cutlery, not with a smile, but almost throwing it on the table. The glasses had about 2 inches of water. She was just not interested in her customers and shouldn’t be in a service role of any sort.
We are both disgusted with the attitude of this girl & will not eat here again - ever!
Love wetherspoons and the app ,.....BUT ..i have a iphone7 plus , and use zoomed larger text ( i cant be the only one) when you open the app , it asks you to confirm your pub location , you cannot see or press the “ yes im here” at the bottom of the screen because its not there on larger zoomed font , so to use this app i have to go into settings , reduce text size and reduce zoomed to continue , this cannot be right , i have told staff at the last post southend many times , there not interested “the app is run by an outside source” , so have found wetherspoons contact email and notified them , i have received no response at all !!! Also at LAST POST southend , even when i reduce font to continue , i can order drinks but not main meal menu , when you tap this it just crashes and deletes back to home screen. Dose anyone who runs this app or who runs wetherspoons care or listen ?????
EDITED REVIEW - Being disabled, I cannot manage to get to the bar, order food and drink etc easily, so for me, this app should be 5 stars, and while it is useful, it has some vital flaws..... I like lime and lemonade, I can order a glass of lemonade, but there is no function to add lime to it, my partner likes gravy and often wishes there was more on his plate, but you cannot add extra, my Mum likes chips and gravy, again no option, the other problem we often have is the app times out when trying to pay! Also, I am gluten free, I often have the chicken tikka with extra poppadoms, instead of naan, and you cannot make that alteration either! Sort these problems out and the app will get 100%
Hi I am Charlie Davies, and consider myself a beer extraordinaire. The service at Wetherspoons or ‘Spoons as the kool kidz call it has been nothing short of exceptional. I flippin love a beer and the Bois at spoons just know how to please a man with needs such as my own. I would like to suggest a pay rise for all of the loving staff who have made my time here such a pleasure. I am so thankful to be alive so that I can experience the brilliance of the legendary “Dragon Inn”. When I see the drinks being delivered by hand to our table the flame inside me builds to an extent that I cannot control it and release a flame of unbridled joy. The legendary St George has buckled at the knees, unable to slay this wonderful beast of a pub.
I have used this app numerous times and it has worked fantastic. One of the things it fails to do is state the hours at which children are allowed to be in the pub and by child I mean 6 month old sleeping baby. Food was ordered through the app but at no point during the process did the app mention the hours which “children” are allowed on the premises. I ordered food as normal only to be told, by a member of staff, as food was brought out “The kid has to leave before I can serve food”. Now this is at 20:50 and while I’m sure it may well be against the licence policy of Wetherspoons at no point during my ordering through the app did it ask if “children” were at the table. I also fail to see how having a sleeping baby is an issue. So from what I understand I could sit in a Wetherspoons with a wheelbarrow full of bricks, soil and god knows whatever else but not a baby that is fast asleep. Yes this is a rant but I’ve spend the last 3 months serving at sea to come home to this. Rule Britannia!
The day is Wednesday 22nd August, 2018. I am out for casual drinks with friends to celebrate a birthday. It is a slightly overcast day, nothing is out of the ordinary. There are no signs that my life is about to be changed in the way that it Thoroughly has been by this App. Throughout my childhood I have always had difficulty with communication and interacting with people, it has been a genuine and traumatic struggle. I’ve always thought the solution was tackling those problems head on, addressing them and growing as a human being. Overcoming these problems and feeling pride in doing so. But forget that, this app proved that there was an easier way. Thank you,Wetherspoons app.
It’s the first time I have used the app. In principle it is great.
I like to cycle and the thought of being able to order a breakfast from an outside table without going to the trouble of locking the bike up and going inside is a great idea.
Ordering is a simple process. However the option to make amendments isn’t available. I don’t particularly like tomato’s. If I was ordering from a till, I would ask for an extra mushroom instead. The app does not give this option. I don’t think it would be too difficult for the app to do this though. Even a comments section to the order would be helpful.
Service was very speedy for a busy Saturday morning which is a credit to the staff.
One other issue I had is that you have no other way of contacting your server again. To my disappointment my beans were missing from my breakfast. I had the choice of going inside, leaving my bike and breakfast to go cold to go inside or just putting up with it.
The downside of eating outside was being bothered by a wasp. Not sure the app could help there !!
In general, the app is good but with a few tweaks it could be great.
I’ve been to a number of different Wetherspoons - Colchester, Sudbury, Berkhamsted and Poole come to mind - and this is my first visit to Harwich Bottle Kiln. I was disappointed to note that tables were left uncleared for absolutely ages: the table next to hours wasn’t touched for well over half an hour until a group of people came to sit there and had to ask the waitress to clean it. Same waitress provided our meals but couldn’t be bothered to ask if we needed anything else such as ketchup. I went to find a condiments holder, without any success, so I tracked down our server who then took nearly five minutes to return with some.
There were far too many people shifting furniture (chairs, tables etc.) around - again not something I’d experienced before in other venues, nor do I wish to again. My disabled wife now lives in a local care facility - I’m not sure whether we will be rushing to return!
At least the food was tasty - albeit the chips were pretty much stone cold! Not very happy!!
Still not very happy with this app as it still not been made accessible for a blind person. I just wish the app developers were trying to take more notice and act on the feedback. It’s nowhere near to being accessible but it will be great if you could make it pick up the pub that you are in when using voice over with the iPhone. The map has never been accessible if you could make it a sort of list view where you could tap along the screen and then double tap the choice of pub you wanted that would really help especially with voice over users like myself. Myself personally, I have assisted other developers such as Uber and TSP bank to make the apps more accessible. Come on guys and girls, make this app really accessible so a blind person can go into a pub and order their meal independently and not have to worry about what table they are at. Sort it out! If you would like my help or assistance in anyway then don’t hesitate to contact me. As blind people, we appreciate apps to be more accessible and you might even hit a niche market if you really try.
Many thanks and I hope you find these remarks useful.
I have just been in to try to have some breakfast and have left without eating. We ordered two large breakfasts, one with black pudding. They arrived and were cold. I took them back to the bar and asked for two new breakfasts, not for them to be just placed under the hot lamp. Two minutes later, the same breakfasts were brought back to our table and they were still cold. Even if they had been microwaved it would have been better, but it is quite obvious that they had just been left on the side or just put under a hot lamp.
I spoke to the team leader and she couldn’t even tell me the complaints procedure. I’m waiting for my refund confirmation email. The manager stood by and said absolutely nothing to me but questioned the team leader what the problem was. So disappointed and will not be returning again. I’d rather pay 4 times more and have a decent meal.
After ordering our food and drinks at the manor house member of staff can and Id my 1son and is girl friend but never ask my other son for his Id after receiving owe meal and all of us started eating ( which was not up to standard ) this rude lady ( Sarah ) come up to our table a loudly pointing out that my son had taken a sip of a drink cider , by law it states that a person aged 16 is aloud to drink a alcoholic drink when eating a meal a compared by a adult (I now different pubs have different polices ) but to approach a table why we where eating was very rude she could of handled the situation better and then come back to say we could not have pudding was a embarrassment to your company and to bar we was in and to ban us from there for good it was the first time we went into the royston branch and it will be the last of it possible I would like your head office number or email please mrs Wendy woolley
The app is great, especially if you have your family with you or the kids on your own...but it’s let down by a few minor points.
- there’s no way to specify how you want your drink/food served. E.g with or without ice. I’ve stopped buying drinks that could have ice added for this reason as I was fed up of getting half measures thanks to the glasses being so full of ice.
- so many tables have the table numbers missing. I’ve mentioned this when ordering at the bar and nothing has been done about it. Without a table number, you can’t order food!
- on one occasion my phone battery died after I ordered. For some reason (and this hasn’t happened before or since) the waiter wanted to see my receipt before giving me my food. Obviously I couldn’t do that because my phone had died. I was sat at the table number given when ordered so not sure why a receipt was demanded. Nobody has ever asked to see my receipt after ordering from the bar. Seemed a bit needless and caused embarrassment as I had to explain myself in front of the turning heads of other customers. I had done nothing wrong but was initially made to feel like I was trying it on.
- why do the drinks come 10mins after the food half of the time?! If anything, surely they should arrive before the food.
So as I say, it’s a good app, but it’s let me down a few times and could be much better with a few small adjustments.
This used to be my favourite Weatherspoons until I experienced the rudest service in history. Also, to add salt to the injury, after complaining that my order hadn’t arrived, the manager made my drink, bent down and made a motion that looked like he spat in it. I confronted him about what I had seen him do and his response was “well, you’ve been attacking me about this order”. Firstly, I calmly complained about the fact that my drink was over 20 minutes late and his demeanour was so unprofessional and bluntly rude. Secondly, I never attacked him and I don’t think that his response is the most fitting for someone accusing you of spitting in their drink. So, that confirmed that he had done that and I left and will not be returning to this place again. I even asked for his name and informed him that will be complaining and his word were “you either take the drink or you leave.” And he walked away. Abysmal.
I was very annoyed when I ordered food using the app which implied table service. When ordering my table wasn’t there on the list even tho my table clearly had a label implying I could order table service. So I ordered what was the nearest table (as previously at the bar when we tried to order we were informed our table did not exist) however it did not arrive! So I went to the bar and asked where my table service was and she replied ‘oh we’ve been looking for you!’ Well I’m very surprised she had because I had not seen anyone looking for me! On asking about the delay she advised the signs had only gone out that day and yet there was still an issue with table numbers! I find that hard to believe but even so no apology or no acknowledgment is not good enough! When I asked her how long the food had been on the side she almost broke down in tears! Not the response I was expecting having paid for my hot food!
I am and will always be a staunch supporter of the Wetherspoon business model. In my view if one were to draw any analogies; I would say that this is the Aldi of British Pubs. They provide a no nonsense service that’s not only very good but great value for money.
Today I have just downloaded the Wetherspoon App on IOS and and have ordered a meal and inclusive pint of Abbots Ale for circa £6:00. Elsewhere I could pay almost £4:00 just for the drink! The Pulled Chicken Bun with Sriracha Sauce and side salad has cost me just over £2:00. I didn’t even have to get off my ample derrière to order it, just click on few places on my mobile. The meal and drink was delivered in under 10 minutes by the way.
Happy drinking and Dining you guys. If you aren’t doing this Wetherspoon’s thing very soon; you haven’t been paying attention in class!!
If you want to order food/drinks from the menu as they come then this app is absolutely amazing. Find a table, crash in the seat, whip out your phone and order the food with really easy to navigate menus and payment options, relax and wait for your order to arrive.
However, if you want to order something with a slight modification (ie. no ice in drinks, gluten free food, no salad in burger, etc) then this app is woefully lacking, there is no notes box anywhere to be found throughout the ordering process which is extremely frustrating.
Other than this minor thing which I feel could be very easily rectified and implemented, I feel the app is a must have after a long day.
Fantastic if you are a single customer in a busy Wetherspoon location. You can find a seat and order your requirements without the problem of losing your seat whilst queuing at the bar. The receipts are good too though an option to print or save those receipts to other locations or apps such as scanner pro would be good.
One small problem - on paying you get an option to scan (and possibly save?) your payment card. Don’t bother. The option is way too sensitive. You seem to have to be able to hold the phone so still for too long to enable the green box around the card to scan the card. Effectively, because of this requirement, it doesn’t work. Work required on this feature, please developers!
Otherwise though, a fab app. Get it if you use “Spoons” a lot!
Having found the app I signed in and promptly order a drink. While looking through the menu on my phone I found that burger and drink prices didn’t initially show which was confusing. I was later told by the manager it would show up at the end. But at this time I had already ordered food from the bar. The lack of a comments box is greatly frustrating as a Simple request of no chipotle mayo and to swap with only a bbq sauce could not be facilitated. Hence ordering at the bar. This is a fundamental floor of making customers customise there food. I can imagine many people would like to possibly request no salad in their burger etc.
With this in mind I have scored it a 4 at this time.
Easy , Fast and convienient . set up table number , order what you want , pay via apple pay which is so so easy . Food is then delivered to the table . The biggest advantage is not having to wait to be served . Ive been to many Weatherspoons which can get very busy especially weekends and evenings and had to fight my way to the bar and wait ages to be served. The disadvantage is if you order a refillable coffee or soft drink you still have to go and get this yourself which isnt great if your not expecting this , the other disadvantage is when ordering drinks you can’t for example add a dash of a mixer or order a shandy ,add ice and lemon , fix this problem and it would be perfect .Overall a very good app , I can see that Weatherspoons will be leading the way for many of the chain pubs and resteraunts to develop similar apps which will mean waiting service and bar staff jobs will be cut as a result . Good or Bad this will be the future of the hospitality industry .Next step will be intelligent tables with touch screens where you can order your food at the table , have it delivered by robot and a robot come and clear the table. Uncleared tables is one of the most annoying aspects of a visit to Weatherspoons.
I’m disabled and have always depended on a carer or companion to go order for me before this app. Now I am able to be in control, and ordering and service time is excellent. The only problem I have is I am gluten intolerant. One of the reasons I love Wetherspoons , is they have a great gluten free menu. On it though it does advice that some dishes you need to ask for specific items to be changed, as the meal appears on the main menu as well; eg with curries the naan bread should be replaced with extra popadoms. Unfortunately the app does not let you do this, so if I want to order something requiring this sort of change, I’m back to relying on others going to the bar.
This app works great and as a touring musician who visits a LOT of Wetherspoons around the country, sometimes alone, this is a great idea when I want to make sure I secure the table I’ve found! However, over half of my experiences have involved staff members who clearly would rather they didn’t have to provide the service. In fact in a Wetherspoons in Hereford (can’t remember the name) I even had a barman bring me some drinks, look me up and down, before saying ‘completely able bodied but couldn’t be bothered to come to the bar?!’. At a Wetherspoons in Bridport I even had a member of staff claim that the app was only for food and if I ordered drinks on it I had to collect them at the bar?!
