This app is the best notepad I’ve experienced. Any chance of dotted paper and few more coloured pads fronts?

Version 5.13
I honestly prefer this app to GoodNotes and Notability. 6his was the first ever note taking app I got on my iPad, a while back with the first iPad you could write on. Now I have the latest iPad Pro 12.9 inch and this is STILL an awesome note taking experience. But the reason I started using GoodNotes a lot more is because it has not been updated in so long so it lacks a lot of features that would make me switch over completely.
1) the lack of range with colors for writing and highlighting (as a university student I personally like having options)
2) the file and notes organization system is honestly a mess. Not easy to organize documents and folders in a systematic way at all and it doesn’t look great on the home page
3)highlights still happen over texts- which isn’t a huge deal but it can be very annoying
4) the inability to rotate documents
5) the look needs to be updated a bit. It’s 2020.
Other than that I really enjoy the writing experience

This app is great as it allows to hand write, highlight and erase on documents which has been a massive help to my studies.
I would however love to have the option of folders and maybe exporting notes as ‘.doc’ etc.

I’ve tried all the note apps on the AppStore. I’ve currently settled on this one, but for how long I don’t know. Longer notes frequently get mangled and areas disappear. You can’t write on some bits. And if you concede defeat and accept your work has gone and redo it, then I’ve had Whink suddenly put back the missing content under the redone work, to mangle it, meaning it needs to be erased and done a third time.
Why am I sticking with it? When it works It’s a joy to use and the handwriting is beautiful. (Are you listening Apple?). The flow of the app is first class. Is that worth sticking with for the bugs. Probably not for much longer...

PLEASE LET ME ORGANISE THE NOTES IN FOLDERS. PLEASE LET ME HAVE FOLDERS. PLEASEEEEEEE. I LOVE THIS BUT I’M JUST FLOODED WITH ROWS OF NOTEBOOKS AND IT ANNOYS ME BUT I LOVE THE APP.
Apart from that it’s great for annotating PDF and writing/drawing alike. Honestly it looks great. I’m just a person highly nitpick with how my writing looks and this app is just satisfying <3

Version 5.5
First thing to know about this app is that the Apple pencil integration is second to none. You can navigate around a note with your fingers, writing with your pencil. No need for turning the ‘pen’ on and off or false marks from your hands. So natural, so easy.
As a notes app though, it hasn’t replaced my trusty Moleskine. I’d love a digital solution to that and this gets close with the idea of notebooks as the primary navigation rather than ‘notes’, which I find just get cluttered. Where it falls down, and about the only area the likes of Evernote scores, is indexing handwriting. Evernote doesn’t do that properly anymore so back to the trusty Moleskine I go as it just feels more efficient.
However, the real use for Whink that has made it my go to app for meetings is markup. I’ve tried loads of apps that let me open PDFs and annotate them but they’re all limited; either in the navigation or a limit to the number of ‘tabs’ open. With Whink I can open a notebook for a meeting, throw dozens of PDF reports in there in the right order and then scribble all over them. It is the perfect meeting prep replacement, especially on the big iPad Pro. I don’t need to worry about the app crashing and losing all my open tabs either - one notebook per meeting, nicely synced. Not almost as good as paper - way way better.
It is similarly excellent for quick feedback on documents where I find it more fluid, natural and thus quicker than even tracking changes in say Word.
I still fall back to iAnnotate for quick signatures as the Whink export is more note-like, rather than preserving the margins of the original PDF but that aside, Whink has completely replaced it.
Love it. If only I could search my handwriting it’d become my most used app.

Really beautiful

Version 3.5
The app combines text and writing in a really beautiful way. Handwriting looks really amazing and it has colour schemes to keep it all matching.
Continuous scroll is also a really nice feature.
Only reason not 5 stars as on occasion can freeze to Apple Pencil inputs and needs to be restarted

Version 3.3
Loving the app design and a lot of the features, but one thing that stands out to me as needing improvement is the typing experience. There's no margins, header or footer space - no fixed layout. It makes the experience of typing ugly and unpleasant. Please add margins at least, so I'm not having to start typing at the very edge of the screen to the other. Good app though overall

Great app but ...

Great app . I like to note take with my Apple Pencil as it's quicker in meetings this is a great app for that. Also setting up different books for different subjects is easy and clear to swap from one to another . My most used app of the moment for all my notes.
I'd of given a five but it does freeze every so often if that was improved then it would be a five

Version 2.9
An excellent note-taking app, giving the choice of typing or scripting, drawing and doodling. Have used it for resurrecting old and tattered recipes, but also for study purposes and even downloading instruction manuals. Excellent!
Wish I could download more items via the 'Open in another app' command available for iCloud Notes etc. This would expand Whink's usefulness for me.

Version 2.8
If you export your whink file, it prints with a horrible gray background and isn't scaled to A4, which renders the beauty of the notes somewhat useless. I love the app and use it a lot for studying but it would be far more useful if I could print and file the notes too.

Not a bad app if you take 20 minutes to work through the options. Much easier than Evernote.
However, I upgraded my phone, reinstalled Whink and had lost ALL of my notes. Not replaceable by memory, so I won't be wasting my time putting anything else in this app.
Not a good long term investment. Better off just putting a note in the iOS Notes app.

Great Note Taking App With Broken iCloud support

 –
Baz_uk
 –
2015-12-19
Version 2.1
It really makes you wonder how applications get released into the wild with such broken features, it would be better to remove a feature rather than include it and it not work, especially if the bug affects the basic use of the app. Surely this was not tested by the developer before release!
Firstly, this is a really good note taking and PDF markup app. I have only just purchased it but can immediately see the benefits.
Now the ugly, the iCloud sync system does not work, but worse still if you have iCloud enabled then you cannot open up the notes that you have created.
For those who are having this problem, just go to your iPad settings, scroll down to Whink and turn off use iCloud, amazingly all your notes will be there; well mine were.
Another tip is to open PDF documents you need to use the iPad "Open In" another app feature from a source app such as an email, iCloud Drive or One Note. This should be better implemented with links to drive services.
I haven't tried all of the features yet but everything else seems to work well.
I hope that this app is fixed because it really could be useful but at the moment the lack of cross device support makes it of limited use to me as i like to have access to notes on my phone as well as iPad.

So I pay £2.29 to download the app, which is fine. It seems fair, you know the app looks very nice and funky. But here's the real trick, after you buy the app, to write in a different pen style, or record your voice note you need to buy premium features for another £2.29! Ridiculous, I pay that much money and then you try and charge me more!
Atleast make the app free and charge for the features only! And make the features so good that you cant resist buying it. Its ridiculous really.
Im claiming for a refund!

As the title suggests, I am more than happy with this wonderful FREE app. It allows you to create multiple documents, and despite it being free, there's no limits or stupid and annoying restrictions like other apps have. It has a variety of fonts, you can choose to create bullet points/numbered lists, you can underline, highlight, choose whether to write with your finger/stylus, or type using your keyboard. You can introduce pictures in your documents aswell. It's very neatly organised and super handy. Can't recommend it enough!

Using this makes me think; this is what tablets were invented for. When I'm making notes on a project I always turn to paper to give me the freedom to scribble how I like, and draw diagrams, flow charts, models, tables, etc. to illustrate my ideas and organise my thoughts. And this app allows me to do that. But it also allows me to record that stuff electronically and cut and paste drawings and add color. It lets you type when you want, but also works well for writing by hand, especially if you have a stylus (even a cheap one, although a finger works surprisingly well, even with my scrawly handwriting). Use the moveable palm rest so you can rest your hand on the screen without getting extra inputs from it, when you're using a stylus. Looking forward to future developments. Customer support is good, too.
