App malfunctioned while I was on holiday attempting to load the card and all the money in my bank account was held so that I could not access any of it. My holiday was ruined by stress and anxiety and I racked up an extortionate phone bill because of the run around I was given. I had to phone my bank and Travelex Money several times and they expect you to hold for hours. My issue has not been resolved- it’s with the ‘relevant’ team. I am penniless on Holiday.

So disappointed in the entire Travelex Card and Money App experience. Lady who sold me the card at Heathrow Terminal 5 gave me wrong info - said I can change card PIN, password and mother’s maiden name once I downloaded the App. Turns out she has no clue! Next day when I downloaded the App and tried to create my online account it would not let me coz the bogus mother’s maiden name I gave her earlier during purchase had numbers and letters and the app would not accept anything but letters (obviously I didn’t want to type all that info on her monitor in public view of the airport so I gave her a bogus mother’s maiden name knowing I could later change it myself). Who designs a product with different data entry validation on operator screen versus end user interface? Also, Customer support guy tells me I first need to create account online and then download the app (what???). And then he informs me, Safari is not a supported browser; if I want to create an account I must use something else (great job guys). And icing on the cake was when I asked how to change my mother’s maiden name? Answer: send us an email request with a photograph of your IDScan! GDPR anyone? Oh, one more thing, you can’t change your login credentials via the App. You got to call Customer Support and they’ll reset a temporary password. Next time you login, it’ll give you the option to reset. Guess it was too much for their bright developers to factor in a Reset Passwords link!!! Shame on you Travelex. You had the right idea of the product and a great market but you won’t make it very far, not with this kind of half hearted product rollout.
I find it unreliable on WiFi connections in South Africa. I have to kill app and relaunch frequently. Saved card details frequently fail. Room for improvement.

I loaded my card up in December and since then the app just doesn’t update. Been away and spent money using the card but it still shows my balances from December. All attempts to get it to update have so far failed. I like the card etc but an app that doesn’t show your balances is less than useless.
Transferring money on to the card is quick and easy, however getting it back when you have some left over is difficult, slow and expensive! You cannot do it via the App or the website, you have to phone or go into a branch. It only takes an instant to put money on to the card but it takes ‘3-5 working days’ to get it back. It also costs £6.00.
I had no problems using the card in New Zealand.
App wouldn’t let me order for most of the day.
Helpline wasn’t much good either!

This app would be awesome if it actually remembered my card details, passcode and Face ID. So I wouldn’t have to re-enter everything, every time I logged in to view or top up my balance. PLEASE can Travelex update the app and finally fix this issue!
App never loads, it’s really really terrible. I have not been able to get it working once.
You get looping loading screens, password fails, in-app button freezing, just awful given the nature of the product
This is the worst app EVER. It never works, I have downloaded it on several occasions, reloaded the app as instructed and restarted my phone. I always end up having to call customer services and doing it over the phone anyway. Complete waste of time.
Such a good idea but spoilt by how useless this app is. Do you not try it out before release or at least read the reviews. Very disappointing
As mentioned by other reviewers the app hangs on login screen so is unusable most of the time.
Half the time the App hangs on logging in, the rest of the time it can’t get my balance anyway, all of which means it and therefore the card it accompanies are pretty useless.
Nice idea but it just doesn’t work well enough to be useable... I’ll stick with cash from now on I think.
When it does work it’s fab but it only works once. Subsequent logins fail as it keeps asking for a replacement card. I have to remove the app, reinstall it and enter all the account details again.

Worked once, the first time is used it. Registered the card, checked the balance, I thought “brilliant” this will make life really easy.
However since then the app doesn’t work. I log in but it then just thinks and thinks and thinks and never actually Starr the app user interface.
My first log in attempt was in the UK. Maybe now that I’m abroad is why it doesn’t work! Which totally defeats the object.
Note to developer. Release stuff that works or don’t bother at all.

We’ve come out to New York having been impressed by the concept of the card, but can’t top it up because I can’t log in - just hangs saying ‘Logging in’ and never gets any further. Not sure how I can top the card up. Disappointing!

Painfully slow...when it actually works. I’ve been travelling for 9 months now and despite good internet connection and downloading app updates I can probably only manage to upload currency about 1 of out 3 times on average.
This app is not user friendly at all.
Every time you open it - be it 5 seconds or 5 days between - it constantly updates the rates and doesn’t allow you to enter anything for a minute or so.
To delete anything in the currency box, you have to keep tapping until it is empty. A single tap and hold does not work.
It keeps defaulting to a currency I asked about when I first got the app.
Would be good if it asked what currency I was interested in.
Would also be good to allow decimal places when I’m trying to work out conversions
The app crashes every time I try to register my card. Now useless.
Well done on your recent update, I’m now 10,000 miles away from home in South Africa and the latest update crashes every time I attempt to login my account ... do you seriously not test this before deploying an update ffs
I have one question though. We are currently travelling in Australia. I left my card at home. If I get a card out here in aus is it possible to top up using my uk funds? Or do I have to convert them to aus dollar to top up? We are going to Thailand so need to be able to access our funds in our uk account

The app doesn’t allow to view transactions. That means you cannot know the basis on which the current balance is calculated. So, all it’s good for is to top up - without knowing if you actually need to top up.
I've ordered my currency from Travelex for years via their website. I just tried via their app and I was shocked at how much quicker the process was. Very simple, very quick and absolutely perfect. Great app!

Ordered currency from the app. Very simple and quick, rates are always better if you buy your currency at least 4 hours before collection at the airport, rather than buying when you get to airport. Will always buy my currency this way.
Found the app very easy to use to order currency for collection. Quicker than using the form on their website.
Try transferring £100 into US dollars and they charge me £1.50 to do so. Seems like too much of a rip-off to me.
Quite easy to get a new card, it's when you try to top it up it gets difficult. I had problems tried 3 times, had to resort to calling the help centre, difficulty in understanding the operator who in turn had difficulty in understanding me. Had to resort to going online.
Great app, I used it on my recent trip to Mexico, loading it with US Dollars but would have been much better for Mexican Pesos. Used to have the Supercard and app which was fantastic but this is a great replacement. Just be easier if you could do smaller top ups than £100, having to do this on my last day was really frustrating, maybe a minimum top up of £50 would be better even if there was a small surcharge for under £100 amounts.
Have used the app in the past with no problem. However last couple of times there's been an issue with delivery date selected changing to the day before on the payment screen. It then confirms an order for a completely different date/day that doesn't make sense. e.g. Wanted delivery on Monday, 10/07/17 and was defaulting to Sunday, 09/07/17 and then saying you can't deliver on Sundays. I eventually decided to select Saturday 08/07/17 for delivery and got a confirmation message stating my order would be delivered on Wednesday, 07/07/17. Completely non-sensical as today is Wednesday, and it's 05/07/17! Extremely confused user!!!
Maybe it will be handy if there's an option of viewing the transactions made, i had an issue after use it in a couple of shops the balance wasn't updating and couldn't see what i have bought so couldn't figure out how much I got left on the card
Travelex stole my money, and after 2 hours on the phone with them they were still unable to resolve my issue. They ruined my holiday. None of their customer service advisors seemed to know what they were doing, I was passed between 7 different people on the phone. None of them seemed to communicate with each other, so I had to re-explain myself and go through security checks every single time. It was like they were playing a game of dumping the difficult customer on each other. Here's what happened:
- Tuesday night at 7pm I paid to reload my card through the app.
- 5mins later I got an email saying top up was unsuccessful and that I should call them.
- I called them and after 10mins they told me they could not find the transaction.
- I then called my bank who confirmed the transaction was actually authorised, they gave me the auth. code and exact time.
- I called Travelex again. I was passed between another 2 people, which after 10mins resulted in them telling me they sent an email to another team and that the money would be on my card within 4 hours. And that she would call me back.
- I went to sleep and at 9am the next day there was still no money and no one had tried to call me.
- I then called Travelex again, quite angry and frustrated. I was passed between 5 different people over 1hr30mins, for most of which I was on hold. The 3rd person I spoke to had the cheek to start reeling off all the options I had to top up my card, which made me livid as I don't want to give them more money when they still owe me money!!! They told me that they have sent an email to another team (again), that I would have the money within 24hours and that someone would call me. Absolutely disgusted they kept me on the phone for 1hr30mins to tell me that which should have taken 5mins.
- My holiday is now over and ruined, I am back home. It has been longer than 24 hours. No one has called me. I still don't have my money.

Really love this app! Very easy and simple to use, you can tell they've invested in delivering a great customer experience. I really liked the fun little features when you enter your date of birth wrong, very playful but without getting in the way of a doing the job. We'll done guys!
The app doesn't update, you can't view recent transactions or your balances in detail. Just best to manage using the account function on their website. But this App needs serious work and let's down the usability and ease of use of the card.
Tried to reload my card whilst on holiday abroad. Waste of time. When trying to add my details, if you do so in order it will only give number keypad to enter mothers maiden name. Restarted and entered maiden name first then all other details, will not allow me to continue. What is the point in having an app that obviously is untested and does not allow you to carry out its primary function.
It tells you absolutely nothing, where's my balance and spending tracker? Come on gibbons, develop something worthy please! Thank you - paying customer.

This app is crap don't use this company. The app does not update. If you lose track of how much you spent do not expect this app to tell you.
Contacting support will be a waste of time they will write back to you to say for you to call them using the UK toll free number which is not free anywhere else in the world, forgetting that the only reason you use this card is so you can use it abroad, like outside of the U.K.

I've spent too long trying to find my balance through this app, extremely stressful when you're on holiday and want to check how much money you have left. I've spent the last few hours googling how to get my card balance and it looks like there is no way of finding out!
