Don’t bother paying
Really enjoying this and paid £4 to not have ads… only to find I need “coins” or have to watch videos. Totally misleading

Good but can be better
Amazing game. Only thing is that because it is an American app some British answers result as incorrect even though I know for well they are correct. For example there was a part where it said 'University starting with A' I put Aylesbury but it marked it incorrect. I COULD HAVE WON. I am not angry it's just annoying. Anyway, good game. Fun to do when your bored.

Broken game
I’ve just downloaded and tried to open the app repeatedly 4 or 5 times, and it just freezes on a broken homepage that says ‘this is content’. Very disappointing

Very US centric
Good game but can be frustrating at its very American .
I don’t know any American game shows .
The game wouldn’t except “ the nutcracker “ as a popular fairytale and won’t accept Elizabeth Chadwick as an author and also doesn’t like welsh names . Have disputed through the app but 12 months on and they are still not accepted answers

Keeps crashing
Have to keep closing the app in the middle of games as it keeps crashing which means you instantly lose the coins you’ve just spent

Poor functionality
The game doesn’t function as it should, written answers forgotten with many valid answers being marked as incorrect. Shame, Scattergories in person with pen and paper is class.

Frustrating
One of my favourite games which I play a lot. However it is very frustrating as there are too many glitches, crashes and now……connection issues!

Advert duration
Game play is good but advertisements are too long. 1 minute and 30 seconds of game play followed by 30 seconds of adverts, some times more than one advert. Very infuriating. Lessens the overall experience down.
I understand the need for adverts, but after only playing a handful of rounds I feel more inclined to delete the app rather than be forced to buy the full app just to avoid frustration.

Can’t add friends
Can’t add my mum I tried Facebook but nobody even showed up but a very fun game but if I add her friend code it either adds a bot or it loads infinitely

Could be great
Same categories ALL the time! ‘Things in an arcade’ and ‘things in a garden’ very boring. There aren’t enough categories so you see the same ones every time you play. Lots of answers aren’t accepted even though they are correct. Like I said could be great but it seems very lazy and half hearted

Awful app
Awful app ruins a great game. The keyboard is unresponsive and the screen skips parts so you can’t see how your competitor answered. Very frustrating not to mention the constant ads every 30 seconds.

New update
Was a good game however today it told me I had to update the app, I did but now every time I try to play it keeps saying I still need to update so I can no longer play even though I have updated the app! Removing the app and re downloading doesn’t work either

Badly setup, inhibits fun play
The app is badly setup in terms of playing with friends. Games take ages to go through to your friends and sometimes the results get lost if an add pops up.
Would be much better if it was live games at the same time as friends, I don’t see any reason why it’s not.

Game won’t load
Hallo, I’ve downloaded the app but when I try to open it, the game won’t load. The yellow line reaches about ⅓ of the way and then stops.
I’ve tried deleting the app and trying again but get the same result.

This game is one of my favourite apps on my iPhone, as it is so much fun competing against others, doing daily challenges and doing duels against friends or someone else. The thing I would
say about the game is that your cost for a round is a bit much, and I haven’t been able too play until i have enough coins. Other from that, this game is GREAT 👍

Xenophobic and condones animal abuse
This game is so US-centric it’s xenophobic. Categories include US gameshow, US airline and many correct answers in other categories (such a mammals, chain stores and TV shows) are marked incorrect if they are not American (yak, Fenwicks, Neighbours). It has a category Things at a circus which condones animal abuse. It could be a good game but sadly it’s horribly Americanised.

Great concept but terrible app
The concept of the game is great. I love it! But the app is just terrible. I have to close the app and reopen it to update games in progress and be able to play. It would better if each game consisted of more than one round and you were able to view the results of completed games. I would not recommend this app as it currently is.

Unplayable keyboard
You play against the clock, yet the keyboard is so bad you spend most of the time trying to type one word! It takes about 10 attempts just to type one letter as you can’t type quickly because you will find it misses most letters!
Also... something you wear (R), I put Red Hat and Red Shirt, both were rejected, yet someone else put Red Dress and that was accepted!

Mixed feelings
I enjoy the game but find it frustrating. It’s very Americanised so UK answers are deemed incorrect. It randomly autocorrects answers, sometimes in your favour and other times causing an incorrect answer. If you have the same top score as another player it only chooses one winner, so even if you ‘win’ you don’t get the coins

Let down by being American-centric and prudish
A good game and a great database of answers are let down by questions only an American-resident could reasonably answer. Also, when you can’t submit Willy Wonka as a ‘fictional character’ just because it contains a ‘rude’ word you know it’s gone too far!

Ok but...
As others have said it’s very Americanised, and answers are shown as wrong when they are legitimate answers over here. Also, the censoring is really over the top. For instance, it asked for a spice or her starting with J, and I said ‘Jerk Seasoning’ and it was censored 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ So you get lots of incorrect answers just because they contain other words. Also, there are way too many adverts and after every advert the game crashes. Lastly, the keyboard is weird on the game which makes it very difficult to type, and you constantly misspell things or take a lot of time typing because of the layout of it - The game itself though is fun 😊 just has a few annoying things that ruin it.

Good
I do love a game of Scattergories. Every Christmas with my family I play the game (the normal one), and we have so much fun. This is why when I saw it on my phone, I immediately downloaded it. It's really, really, really, really good.
However there is one annoying, unexplainable thing. If I was playing a game and we both got 40, it would say the other person won, when it is obviously a draw. I would really like an explanation for this. Is it if I'm a higher level I win?
I would really appreciate it if you could please get back to me on that.

Answer pool isn’t wide enough
The fun of this game is ruined by the answers they disallow incorrectly, or because of regional spelling differences. You can dispute their rules but to no real outcome.

Don’t bother with this
You’ve ruined my fav game. Like previous review it’s all American also doesn’t recognise plurals or miss spelling. Half the fun of writing the answers is it doesn’t matter how you spell a word as you all read them out in turn and then have a fun ‘discussion’ whether your answer is too ‘way out’ and if the group will allow it or not.

Frustrating
The game itself is as old as the hills and I’ve always loved it but this app is so frustrating! Firstly it’s VERY Americanised, so many answers I’ve used that are legitimate UK answers but it just doesn’t recognise them, similarly a lot of the questions are only geared to a US market I.e. US airline or US game show. Also and this is my biggest problem is that I don’t have Facebook (yes they do exist) so I play a duel with a random person - that’s fine - however to do so costs 30 coins and even if you win you still pay that out so your coins NEVER increase! You end up only being able to play 3 - 4 games per session and that’s it! Crazy

It doesn’t accept British spellings and considers “y” as a vowel. I guess it’s more enjoyable for Americans as many of the questions are related to their culture, brands, television, etc.

This game is fun but has a lot of issues, bad connection problems (incidentally, when I seem to have done well!!), out of date in terms of answers, lack of consistency on what is accepted, same categories over and over. Needs some work.

Doesn’t work after purchase

Rubbish since the update
I used to put up with the excessive adverts to enjoy this game, but since the update, it’s just not fun anymore. You only get 60 coins rather than 200, which means you can play one tournament game and unless you win that game, that’s it! Yes, you can now play duels for free, which would have been good if they’d kept the format the same....but now you have to send the game and wait for the person to play you back... I want to play someone at the same time like before. I don’t want to wait around for days in the hope they play me back. Not sure I’ll be playing much more unless they make changes.

The game itself is lots of fun, however what is up with the weird keyboard format?? Half the time each round is spent on me trying to type correctly.

Keeps crashing!!!
I’ve had the board game for many, many years so thought I’d give this version a go. It’s a good game and I would have rated it at least a 3* maybe even 4* but it keeps crashing after EVERY ad! I get it’s a free game so they make money by advertising but I don’t enjoy having to close the app and then wait for it to reload after EVERY round. It takes away the pleasure in playing and if it continues for much longer I will delete the app.

Good game but..
Good game but there are SO many ads it’s ridiculous. I want to turn the game off after a couple games because I’m watching more ads than I am playing. I understand you offer a paid version with no ads but that’s no reason to pile in an ad after every bloody game on the free version. I’d rather delete the game entirely than be pressured into buying the paid version.

Scores are wrong
Each time I play against someone we both win. For some reason i get 20 points for each correct answer on my ipad. But on their ipad i get 10 points and they get 20. Scores need fixing otherwise not much point playing.

Played with my boyfriend, we were in the same room. Looked at the scores at the end and his said he won, and mine said I won. Spoils the point of the game for me if we are both supposedly winning each time.

I like this game but some of the categories are a bit limiting. Like US airlines, not so good if you don't come from the US. Also film trilogies is a bit limiting. Maybe it would be better as film franchises, there's more scope.
