The over works well and as expected. Easy to setup and navigate. Would there be the possibility to add bulk deletion of motion detection events and deleting one by one is a real pain?
Great app overall just need iPad support.
This version seems to have messed up the video replay function - motion is detected but then it says video failed to download alert video. I have another different YI camera in the house which seems to work fine but the Dome camera does not seem to support video playback - this renders the camera useless. Unfortunately I have invested in quite a few YI products so if the problem persists I will be requesting a refund for all of my devices from Amazon because it does not work as expected.
I’ve held off reviewing this app as I believe an app shouldn’t be reviewed until it’s been used for a given amount of time, in my case that’s two weeks.
I recently purchased and installed the Yi 1080p outdoor WiFi camera. As far as the camera is concerned the picture/video quality is amazing both during daylight and and under infrared and is definitely 1080p, the app however is a different issue! To cut a long story short the alerts system works well and notifies me of any activity but the actual clip of the footage isn’t always available to view. The cloud storage service is intermittent even though I’ve set it to constant recording mode, I have many gaps when I watch footage from the cloud. Also I often have problems with the app not communicating with the camera, I’m not sure if this is a network problem on my part but I’ve tried everything possible to solve this, I’ve even gone as far as too install a WiFi extender which is within three foot of the camera installation.
Overall the Camera is an amazing product but not short of technical problems which will hopefully be resolved over time.
I just had my first issue with it. After plugging in a micro SD card I lost the screen in the iPhone app. At first I thought it was broken, but then noticed I still had a screen on the app on the iPad. I uninstalled the iPhone app and reinstalled and everything is fine again, I’m amazed at just how good and reliable this little camera is, and will be buying another one soon.
Last update broke my camera. Buffers forever.
Camera WAS working well until 2 days ago when the app was updated. Now AGAIN the camera doesn't work. How can YI be such an incompetent company. Don't touch these products they are useless!!!

The app itself is ok but unfortunately I have had the cameras for a couple of months and in this time they only work 50% of the time. There is a clear issue with the cameras which stops them recording to the SD card and as such makes the camera (and hence the app) useless. Since the latest update I can't even view ANY footage. I wish I had never bought them!! To make it worse- customer services are useless and after a month of being without a camera they still have not resolved the problem or replaced two faulty camera.
Take my advice AVOID YI CAMERAS!!!!

Wasn’t expecting much I must admit based on the price of the camera but I have been amazed. I’ve been using the camera and app for about a month and within that time the app has been updated several times. Simply amazed. Will be adding further cameras in the future. Keep up the good work on the app. Would like to see the cost of your online storage come down though.
Easy to configure and use. No problems so far, great camera and app that allows me to monitor my front drive any time. Records any movement so I can go back and check if required.
The cameras are great and the app is good for the most part but for some reason it constantly skips on playback. I try to go band a few minutes and I’m thrown 12 hours back and cannot access some footage. Try on the Mac App and it’s fine, can see a few minutes back or hours.
I bought this camera a few months ago and it’s really great for watching live...however, I really got this camera so I can check what’s going on outside my property during the evening, but the last few weeks it’s not been continually recording, I’ve reformatted the card in the camera several times and check the appropriate camera setting.
Also as another reviewer said; you can effectively play back recorded footage as it jumps back to the current live view which is really frustrating.
Please fix!!! I wanted to get a few more of the same camera but currently no plans to unless these things are fixed...
Every upgrade make it worse. Camera is really good but app and recording on SD don’t work guaranteed. If you moving camera positions a lot then it’s not for you.
I bought the camera to help monitor my elderly mother who was unwell when she was on her own or with carers, on several occasions she had a number of falls and dementia issues. The camera’s wide vision helped me see most of mums flat and monitor her movements at all times, It’s excellent microphone and the ability to pick up sound where also invaluable. I was able to see many events, spot when she was in distress quickly and get contact with her immediately to help without being there. It helped to see how she was living and guide me in making sure she was safe and get the right care for her going forward. Great quality of sound and vision with easy to use App great value for money and piece of mind. Thank you
Very happy with Yi product. Nice quality cameras and good range of options for cloud storage which means you can retain video even if someone steals the cameras! The app is good but does take some getting used to. Also would be better if you could disconnect USB plugs on cameras as you need to drill big 22mm hole if you to run wires through walls or window frames. Overall recommended. Very nearly five stars.
I would like to be able to save a recording to my phone by selecting a time period, without having to record from the playback stream which can be jumpy.
On the whole it’s good, but a vital feature is missing. When scouring through recordings you need to be able to playback at 2x, 4x, 8x speed etc. The Fast forward feature is not adequate for this as it misses huge chunks of the recording.
YI is a very good brand, better then some big brands like sumsung!
I do like the app as it is intuitive and easy to use. The functionality is better than a lot of apps. The latest update has however been a step backwards. When viewing the camera and or reviewing previous alerts, the software takes you to the latest alert if movement is detected. This is unhelpful as you then have to find the one you was previously viewing and invariably it fails to load the alert it’s drawing you to. Please remove this functionality or at least give users the option to turn this on or off. Thanks

Very good app
Camera is easy to set up and provides good quality video. Unfortunately it is impossible to purchase a cloud subscription. The app requires you to confirm your payment details, then asks for your app store password but no text box or keyboard appears. Doesn't fill you with confidence.
Solved eventually by adjusting the clock on the device running the app to 24 hours.
Playback feature skips back 12 hours for example try to see something at 20:00 and it skips back to 08:00. Even with a new memory card. Besides that everything works okay
We use it to keep an eye on a puppy in his cage while we are at work.
Does the job really well and we can talk to him when he needs calming down 🥰
The camera itself works well, but the software is truly awful. It regularly locks up when deleting motion-triggered video clips. It is not intuitive to use, so I don’t know if I’m getting the best out of it after 3 months. Although it installs on an iPad, it is an iPhone-sized app with a x2 button. I’m only writing this review now after being pestered to give it 5 stars when it barely deserves 1.
We have installed 2 (soon three) of these at home and one for my elderly parent as a means to check on falls as we live some distance away.
Easy to set sup - albeit sl delay in resetting when change of Wi-Fi at both locations - can’t reset Wi-Fi unless press reset button but only delayed by seconds until worked it out.
Distant tracking increases coverage area and greatly useful.
I feel to be very good VFM.
I’m running 4 cameras on the Yi cloud and everything works well. The iPhone app is not 100% intuitive and it’s easy to lose your way, but once mastered its very good. I would like to see location control in the app for the cameras so that they can turn on and off as I leave and return home, but at present that can only be achieved by using something like Wemo smart plugs with ITTT, (unless I’m missing something somewhere). Some of the other configuration options are a bit tricky to set, and the instructions aren’t very clear but tech savvy folk shouldn’t have any problems. Live Video quality is ok, not spectacular but good enough, and playback is ok too.
Needs a native iPad app, and the ability to view multiple cameras at once like the desktop app.
Not sir how to resolve this issue or how to contact anyone. Ridiculous.
New update now the app keeps crashing
There’s no real iPad support - you’re stuck with the iPhone app at 2x scale. Which is pretty poor. Nest and Logi provide real iPad apps, so I’d recommend you go with them instead if your primary use is through a tablet.
The playback feature simply does not work - attempt to skip back by a few minutes and you will instead be taken back my hours (usually, rather randomly, to the early hours of the morning). You will never be able to skip back to the time you want - the system simply will not let you. Separately, don’t attempt to adjust any of the ‘smart detection’ settings as the app will simply freeze, and you certainly won’t be able to adjust the ‘region setting’ feature. This is a very poor application and sad as I have clearly wasted money purchasing these cameras.
Camera and app work pretty well with the exception of one key feature, recorded video playback. Completely unable to scroll through recorded material, no matter what specific time you try to view it immediately takes you to the beginning of the recorded day. If you wanted to scroll back and see an event that happened at a specific time you would have to view from the begging of the day and wait in real time until the playback eventually got to the specific hour you were hoping to view. Completely useless!!! It’s all recorded but you can’t view it!
The hardware is very good for the price. My only issue is around the software currently. YI have recently launched a new app and its a lot better but very buggy currently.
I have issues with the playback on the cloud and sometimes the download, screenshot etc. bar appears and other times it doesn’t. I don’t get the thumbnails showing below the timeframe bar.
I would like to see the following improvements if possible;
1)Have an IPad App
2)Be able to view multiple cameras on an iPad.
3)Allow a date and time stamp on the recordings
4)Have fast-forward, pause, play and rewind buttons
5)Make the cloud costs cheaper
I have used this, ring and cocoon for my home security. The ring app still seems best but at a higher cost, the Yi cameras aren't too had. What it misses is location aware, instead you have to set motion detection up on a schedule which isn't as good.
I've been using the cloud service for only a short time but seems ok, the SD card playback certainly seems handy
Well the biggest problem is that you cannot scroll the timeline to review the recording. For some reason it keeps on going to the beginning of the day!!! Please fix this so we can change the rating!

You only can record 6 seconds on motion detection which is not enough please update it to able to record more the other thing every day I need to open the app to receive notifications
Whilst the new UI is cleaner than the former, motion detected recordings don't play back. Please fix this
Since last update no cameras will connect when on 4g. Gets stuck on 30%. Sort it out !!
Tip.. if you are having trouble scanning the QR code to set the camera up scan it from an ipad instead... The big code scans easily.
I’ve been looking for a cctv system for a while but didn’t want to install lots of cameras outside the house so thought I’d try these...I have one outside covering my drive and one inside that covers the front (through the window, not ideal but it works). On the whole I’m impressed with these little cameras, based on price point.
The app is a little flakey and I have some issues when trying to play back clips (which I store in inbuilt SD cards rather than using the cloud) but on the whole I’m happy with this setup, so much so that I’ll be getting another outside camera in due course. The playback issue I have is that when I select ‘play entire clip’ after watching the motion alert clip, it starts right back at the beginning of the day...try to skip to the time stamp and I reverts back to the earliest time...a little bug that needs ironing out.
iPad support please
This camera app doesn’t work. I have used many memory cards as advised and the footage still doesn’t save in the local storage. I have spent so many pointless hours trying everything. Don’t purchase the cloud service they take the money and no subscription active. Stay well clear.

Have view issues at first but now it works great.
