Seems to work, but....
It blocks eff.org, which is definitely not a privacy risk website. It make me wonder what it actually is blocking and where the blacklists were sourced. I’ve reported this as an error but I’ll be looking for an alternative.
This app simply works, not much to add it just does what it’s supposed to. Reasonable cost too.
I've been using purify for over a year, but in the last few months I've been seeing more ads on safari. Please can you release updates again.
C’mom guys, don’t let this app die... just show it a little TLC every few months. Will update the star rating when fixed.
Didn’t notice any difference
I’m not pleased with you
This app has removed some stress from my on-line experience
Has recently stopped working. Started seeing loads of ads more. Turned purify off and on but still doesn’t work.
doesn't seem to be working with ios13, update please
It’s pointless to use an ad blocker that is not updated regularly
Thought this app also blocked annoying ads from apps, but sadly no. Customer support is shockingly poor. I emailed to ask a few simple questions and I am still awaiting an acknowledgement or reply days later. A waste of money☹️
It just does not work! just as many annoying ads. can I get a refund?
And I have had no reply to my e-mail.
It Does Not Work.
I got Purify early - It’s worked perfectly fine and functions as a non-intrusive ad-blocker. I am happy with the value for performance. It’s very simple to use which is also nice.
Works after reinstalled app.
Worked instantly on iOS 12 when my other adblockers were failing. It has made safari usable again! Thank you!
I’m impressed and happy with da blocking precision and ability!
When I first installed the app it didn’t block anything. You need to follow the simple setup instructions within the app (takes about 5 seconds to go through), after doing this it now works fine.
Super but almost deinstalled and asked for a refund from it straight away - it appeared to hang on the purify screen when I installed on a brand new iPhone X (had previously used 1 blocker) - I kept pressing the icon hoping it was a button with no response, checked my internet to make sure was working ... and had no idea i was supposed to swipe to next screen, might be worth adding a prompt as others probably have the same learning curve.
It seems to block the more obvious ads but you’ll still see those awful clickbait panels on websites (taboola etc). I wouldn’t waste money on this.
If it can be extended to other apps other than Safari browser it will make it even better.
Does the job well. Easy to install and set up. The best thing for me was that, when I had a query, the response was superb: fast, personal and helpful. Recommended!
Purify may cost a little money, whereas there are plenty of free options on the App Store, however Purify more than makes up for it’s (small) price tag with quick, friendly and easy setup; Of the many Adblockers I have tried, it provides the most reliable filter, and I have yet to encounter a webpage ‘broken’ by its adblocking. It is also by far the fastest/least resource intensive, which is vital for older devices, like my iPod Touch 6. The support team is very friendly too. Probably the closest thing you’ll find to a perfect adblocker. Please bring it the Mac App Store!
The iOs app works well but the MacOS app was announced and never arrived.
Haven't had to think about it since installation and whitelisting a single domain.
Edit to say it's still just working so I hardly notice it.
Tech as it should be - doesn't get in the way, just does its thing.
I paid for this app back in 2015 when ad-blocking capability was first enabled by Apple and from then until now, I've been free from harassment when browsing Safari.
However, just as of the last 3 months, I've noticed ads are starting to creep back onto Safari, with popular sites such as Youtube now circumventing the ad block somehow.
Other than this, the app has been fantastic value.
Happy with purify as it's simple and so far hasn't affected the speed of safari in any negative way other than maybe a tad more battery use.
So pleased not to see intrusive ad's and trackers. I can't wait for the macOS extension.
Since the last ios update, it does not work anymore.
Blocks ads quite well and it's easy to use.
Would be nice to see what ads are blocked.
Good app but you can't see the list of sites you have whitelisted in the app. Please fix this
Been using this app since it was put on the App Store. Blocks all the annoying ads on any site I visit, and if I happen to find one it doesn't they're very prompt to correct it after a report.
Saves you a lot of data if you're on a limited plan too, this app was definitely worth every single penny I spent on it.
Pretty decent ad blocker.
Simple, easy to use and flawless operation. Highly recommended!
Purify was the first ad blocker I used as soon as the option became available. Works well generally but I've become increasingly frustrated with the blocking of mail links from blogs I follow. Whitelisting AWeber didn't help either.
Time to try new options.
Blocks pretty much all ads - hard to tell as with purify, sites simply don't have adverts. You only see how good a job it's doing if you use another system without a blocker. It's totally unobtrusive - exactly what an ad blocker should be.
Simple and effective. Worth every penny 👍
Works effectively and immediately
Works well and fails on very few sites. I have this as my only safari ad blocker, highly recommended.
Totally worth it.
Purify is the ideal blocker for Safari. Setup is straightforward, actions are easy and the performance exceeds expectations.
You as the user have absolute control. You choose what to block, what not to block and which websites to include and exclude (no fixed, predetermined white lists here!). You can even turn off blocking entirely where necessary.
The tutorial is very informative and easy to understand, using animated screens to show you how to enable Purify in Safari and how to use actions directly in Safari.
Some people find blockers controversial. I believe everyone should have the freedom of choice to block certain elements of websites in their browsers. If you believe that also, get Purify.
Runs happily in the background and does what it says.
This app used to be pretty good, but it seems to have been abandoned by the developer. It often breaks entire webpages that are trying to show ads or even cookie messages, or blocks important content like videos that are not ads. The reports I send in never seem to get looked at as nothing is fixed and the app itself hasn't been updated since last year.
More and more ads are beginning to bypass the filters within Purify. It seems as if the app has now been abandoned, with no developer updates on Twitter either. Unclear whether the block rules are being updated within the app.
The blocker works brilliantly, however doing a Google Shopping search just shows a message that the url cannot be shown when you try to click through to retailers websites which is really annoying.
Paid for this app but it won't work on my iPhone 6. I tried contacting them with 3 messages but received no reply, which I found disgraceful. So I shall have to delete it and be out of pocket! Do not recommend 😡
Did exactly what it said! Turned safari pop up free! The last straw for me was advert on top of advert and then opening the App Store on its own!
Recommended to me so I knew it would work well, but I was impressed with the ease of installing it.
Once downloaded it took literally 90 seconds to watch their tutorial on the actual device, switch on the app in Safari settings, go to my usual news and other websites and "hey presto," no ads at all.
That makes it a really good app!
Some of my favourite sites had become almost unusable due to constant 'overlay' ads which were nearly impossible to dismiss. I gave this a try and the problem is solved. I know there's an argument about websites needing ads to survive, but website owners need to realise that too much or too intrusive advertising will make people go elsewhere or use an ad blocker. The set up of this is simple and after a couple of months it is still working effectively for me.
When I first got this app I had no problems at all. Slowly it seems to have deteriorated and effected the performance of Safari on my phone, to the point that it can be barely unusable, websites that are trying to display ads simply don't work at all.
Bought Purify when it first became available on the App Store.
Started out great but now I get full page ads littered all over the websites I frequently visit.
If I try to close them I get sent to the App Store page of whatever app was being advertised.
I'm now finding that an alternative browser (without ad blocking capabilities) provides a better web experience.
Don't be put off considering this is paid and Crystal is free - the developer of Crystal takes money from ad companies, it shows full screen ads. This works.
When the application works properly it's fantastic. Unfortunately though I've been getting a lot of blank pages in Safari, even if the site is white listed. The only way to fix the problem is to disable Purify completely which is annoying and time consuming.
This used to be the best ad blocker out there but I'm noticing more and more of the websites I visit seem to be showing ads again.
I've reported the sites but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Reported several sites a few weeks ago and they still display ads. Clearly the developer has your money now so doesn't care anymore. Avoid.
Every so often a page will not load, simply showing a white blank page. Refreshing does not help. Could be a coincidence but only happens after starting to use Purify. Seen many others comment on this on forums.
Quickest way to fix the issue is to close the tab. So perhaps Purify is crashing the tab process.
After same false starts with other blockers finally found this one.
It's best party trick is the ease at which you can whitelist sights from within safari. Makes it really easy to whitelist pages where you don't mind a few non-intrusive ads.
I had high hopes for this app given the reviews, and initially it seemed to work.
However, as I use it more I am finding it quite simply does not work.
The majority of websites I use still have ads and some websites simply don't show anything unless you whitelist them.
I expected this app to provide transparent ad blocking.
This is an ok app... lots of ads still manage to sneak through (I'm looking at you, Facebook, and your 'suggested posts'). It also shows you a grey square where an ad would have been, so page flow and the user experience isn't much improved. I expected a bit more from an app that's not free.
Originally used peace before the dev pulled support and recently got my money back on crystal after the betrayal, so third time lucky.
Glad to say I'm happy. Should have used this from the start. (At least I didn't lost anything thank you Apple 14 day return). 😃
since getting this ad blocker I've started to enjoy reading news on my iPad! up to now I've found this to block all ads and load pages faster due to blocking these ads. I understand people use ads to pay bills but when your getting redirected to the app store, being made to watch videos you don't want to or scrolling through a page and accidentally clicking an ad to lose your page it comes to this where you need to draw the line and stop them unfortunately.
After trying both Peace (when it was available) and Crystal and not being overly satisfied I decided to try Purify and I'm glad I did.
With all the blockers I reported a specific site that didn't load whatsoever when the blocker was enabled and Purify is the only one that has managed to sort it, and it only took a couple of days. Fantastic service.
It is very easy to use, easy to whitelist sites and even easier to report sites that have problems, and the developers actually act on those problems, unlike the others. The app will only get better through updates and I can't recommend it enough, well worth the price.
The app certainly reduces the amount of rubbish you get on websites but I have not had any success with whitelisting sites I trust - adding them to the whitelist doesn't seem to make any change to the visible page content so sites like LinkedIn aren't loading properly. In someways this app is overzealous and it gets frustrating when many Google search results simply fail to open (I get why, but total block of page content instead of ad removal is unnecessary). Borderline thinking of binning it and going back to ad littered sites...
Abandoned by 'Peace' and having lost confidence in 'Crystal' (for obvious reasons), I find myself here. Third time lucky; and from this experience I can confirm that 'Purify' is the best of the trio. Slicker product and the fastest results. Thanks for your efforts on our behalf. I hope you keep your premium position in what will inevitably become an ever crowded blocker market, now that Apple has opened the floodgates.
Blocks the bad stuff and also gives you very useful control for when data is limited (eg abroad) by allowing you to block fonts, images and/or scripts.
Browsing on your iPhone will be a breeze without all the ads.
Pages load much quicker and you won't get bombarded with pointless ads.
This extension is well worth its money.
I rarely write reviews of apps but this one deserves one. I have yet to come across a single advert since install and it has cut down my mobile data usage tremendously. I also like the ability to remove those annoying social media buttons in this latest version. No signs of becoming a sellout to the advertising industry either unlike Crystal.
If you're on a metered mobile plan this app is great. My surfing habits haven't changed but my data usage has dropped significantly since I installed Purify
Dev is responsive as well which is vital. I found one website where Purify blocked the content as well as the ads, Tweeted the dev and he's on it-great stuff. In the meantime I just whitelisted the site.
Oh and the app has a helpful tutorial when you first launch it - nice user-centric design
As the title states, this does the job well enough for my liking. With regards to some sites being blocked, I just add them to my white list then reload the page, works fine after that.
Glad I bought Purify, no more annoying ads to interrupt my viewing. Thanks for the effort.
Ad blocking aspect works really well, page load speed much improved. But also seems to manage to completely block some sites so just a blank page appears. Current examples in UK are Autotrader and Autoexpress sites. Until this is fixed its usefulness is limited...
