I’ve been using the squid app fine for a few years now. But since my last login a few weeks ago there’s been an update or something and now upon login I’m being presented with a white screen and pink border with no options to do anything at all. I am unable to login and see the usual screens. I’ve tried logging the prob through the report problem channel but it won’t register. Can you help please. I’ve also tried login on through the website direct and it says the password is wrong and I can’t try again because I’ve tried too many times though I’ve done it once. Then won’t send me the password but will send through the username. Really weird. Don’t know where else to log and am happy to change the review back to brilliant once this is resolved as it’s been brilliant up until now. Thanks.

This app now won’t open just crashes every time. Have to go to the website and even that won’t open or just shuts randomly. Am using latest version of iPhone 11. Sometimes can add money sometimes not and occasionally won’t recognise saved password. Have been left unable to provide dinner money for daughter as all is cashless now, too unreliable so gone back to packed lunches. Thanks a lot.

Logging into the app is a pain. For starters, you need to remember your password and then input e.g. 2nd, 3rd and 5th letters separately. I’ve got too many things going on the remember yet another password. If you are set up and using a smart phone with thumb print recognition, then it’s simpler to bring up their website and use your thumb print.
Hope the app wasn’t expensive 🤭, they are meant to be user friendly; this is not.

This is an easy to use App. Works perfectly when ordering lunches or paying for school extras.
The only negative is that when you top up with extra money, you have confirmation that the money has been paid, it shows the money on the app in the funds available, yet it wont allow you to use it for several hours?? Very frustrating when you’re trying to pay for a full weeks lunches and the school want the orders a week in advance.
Otherwise its fab! 🤩

This app is the only app I know that says you can use your fingerprint to open and still asks for my email and password please fix.

When it works, it does the very basic job it needs to do, ie allows top-ups and contains a transaction history so you can get real-time updates on the sweets, crisps and muffins your precious offspring are spending your wages on in the school canteen. But it crashes constantly, and the only way round it seems to be either to turn the phone off and on again, or to manually log out after each session - so you may as well use the web version.

I’ve been required to use sQuid for my children’s school. The best advice I’ve had in reading the feedback for this app is use the website access and not the app. I would agree! In a sea of comparative apps that have password protection and checkout functionality for spending money this one isn’t quite ready for wide release just yet.

Awful- fingerprint sign on takes you to a stuck user settings screen. Schools should not be foisting this badly written rubbish on parents.
I added this review in 2018. It’s now 2021 and guess what? The app doesn’t work with FaceID. Absolutely laughable that it’s still awful. What a terrible company taking advantage of captive users because their kids school has been conned into using it.

Not worth the hassle. The app isn’t even optimised for newer phones screen sizes such as the iPhone X, XS yet. It doesn’t integrate with faceID/touchID. You can’t even enter your full password, you have to enter select characters from your password (extremely difficult for me since I use a random generated password that I will never be able to remember). All in all, don’t waste your time with this. Use the website instead.

In theory this is a handy way to check the kids’ lunch accounts and pay for trips. The interface is ok although often the schools lump everything into one category.
In practice it is glitchy and crashes far too often. This is the only app I have to regularly delete and reinstall to get it working again. It is also not optimised for newer iPhones. As well as black bars top and bottom, it doesn’t support FaceID (if you click Touch ID it crashes - again).

Your customer support is absolutely atrocious. Your last update was at least 5 months ago and has still not resolved the white screen issue which a vast number of correspondence report.
I will be strongly recommending that my child’s school withdraw from using this abomination of an app.
To simply say that I should use another device or a desktop pc is quite frankly a lame excuse and one for which you should be ashamed. If you develop an app is should be tested and work on all platforms and OS’s.
What exactly are your developers doing to resolve this ongoing issue?

It has been temperamental from the start but now just does not open any more on the iPhone. Would expect more from a financial product used by schools.
Update: Still terrible. Developer replied advising to uninstall and reinstall the app, did that numerous times and still does not work. I am definitely feeding back to school to ask for alternative means of payment for school meals. Totally not acceptable, just wish the school moves away from it. Maybe if I get enough parents on board...

Truly awful app; logs me out every minute or so. Won’t let me add the same two sessions to the basket at the same time even though they are for different children. Sessions not in a logical place and can’t book all of one day in one place, have to go in three places for one day. Checkout then go in again and do it for the second child. I use this through no real choice . My school use it and I stopped my children having school diners as I wasn’t willing to battle with this system every week. Have emailed support and they apparently know about it but there was no support given or any ETA on when or if it will be fixed. Shame as I have had the use of this forced on me bumpy my child’s school and it just doesn’t work.
Update: having installed the latest update version of this app it now exits as soon as you launch it. Seriously guys - how are you releasing such shoddy apps into the App Store and getting away with it - very very poor work.

This App is quick and simple and I get handy alerts when the balance drops below £5.00 - however it will always offer me the option to save my card to use next time and, despite trying several times and even using different cards it never saves it! So I have to dig out my card for every top up which is frustrating! - it also will no longer take automatic payments after an error with my bank meant it was unable to top up once. Again despite trying to reregister with the same and then different cards it has never saved this option. It’s a shame if this needs resetting that there isn’t an alert with contact details or instructions when this fails.

A necessary app for payment! Performance is useless.

The app asks ‘Did you find the app useful’. If you say no it thanks you for your feedback and then does nothing. If you say yes it helps you leave a 5 star rating.
That plus various bizarre usability decisions - not playing nice with password managers, ultra short login timeouts - makes it a pain to use.
Why not focus on trying to make a better experience rather than tricking people with dark UX patterns?

Worked for a good 6 months back in September 2018, since feb 2019 it’s never work. wouldn’t load to log in page, this update says it’s fixed the white screen some people were getting! ( personally never had this problem), well excellent job! I now too get the so called fixed white screen. Here’s me thinking great it’s been fixed.... disappointing

This app is really good and convenient. But since the last update, the fingerprint entry keeps disappearing and I have to put in password all the time. Even though fingerprint is turned on. Must be a glitch, was ok before update. otherwise great app and everything else works fine, easy to use and navigate.

The functionality of the app was fantastic able to everything you needed on it! But I haven’t been able to get it to open for months and months! So annoying as have to do it all online now! Used to be easy to top up and check balance etc! Please sort this problem!!!

Find this a difficult system . Transfer money in and then wait for it to arrive before you can spend and
takes days or they charge you for transaction . Often hangs . Often not updated meal plans. My favourite annoyance is the templates they use for sending messages , which according to the school are designed by Squid for messages and not the school. I have children at two schools who both use squid and templates say “ from school office “ just ridiculous. Sometimes I have no idea which school

Used to work fine but I guess after updates it simply disappears as soon as you start the app. You can see it in the background but when you want to use it, refuses to open and it just vanishes from view.
Update:
I have found out since, that switching off “touch login” fixes the problem. I think the issue is that this feature causes problem when you change to iPhone with face recognition. The app has no face recognition option at all and using existing “touch login” makes the app disappear from screen.

The worst app I have ever come across. Both my wife and I have wasted countless hours on it. Contacted customer services who gave me some half hearted advice which I’d already tried. How are they getting away with this? Now the app is asking me to rate it on a star basis. I want to give it ‘no stars’ but surprise! It won’t submit. So, reluctantly (I wish I could give you the finger emoji instead) I have to submit a one star review.

Now I’ve to speak with the school of our children, so that we can put funds directly into our child’s account. It’s much batter/easier than the payments through SQuid system, because we can see all spendings at any time, plus we’re able to see the rest amount/funds in his account.
At the moment we’re not able to log into our SQuid account, as I can also see the same problems in other reviews, it has been started after the last update of iPhone. It’s not Customer’s duty to let SQuid team know about new updates and their system failures!!!
As I’ve already mentioned above, it I’m not able to see or add new funds for his school meals and don’t know what to do, if there’ll be no funds available for his lunch!!! Obviously for that day he has to go hungry otherwise we’ve to start with his house pack lunch from today!!!

I’ve had this app since sept and it used to work just fine. Since updating my iPhone I can no longer use this app. It won’t accept any login attempts and just keeps sending me back to enter my password characters. Disappointed that after contacting the developers they didn’t seem particularly interested that I couldn’t use it, they just insisted it “should work”. Well it doesn’t. And the log on via the website is just long and more time consuming and definitely not as user friendly as the app once was initially. Not a fan.
EDIT: I have since reinstalled the app and it all works perfectly fine - thank you for addressing the issues and contacting me regarding the updates!
