Other apps store the sound or the text; this one stores both. That's very useful as the Apple transcription is inevitably not always accurate. You've got the convenience of transcription, and the ability to check it against the sound.
I like the simplicity of this app for the user and the fact that the developer keeps improving it. But it was a good app from the beginning and is certainly worth getting now. It's got a place on my Home screen.

I use this app for some of my recordings, I say some because I still use another app as it auto backups to Dropbox, if JPR can do this I will switch. Great app to record from my Apple watch. Fully accessible with VoiceOver.

All I can say is that this is the best thing since sliced bread. It knocks Voice Memos into a cocked hat and is well worth the modest cost. I look forward to using it and discovering it’s all of its features.

Use this to record all my lectures in uni and I send them out to my friends too. So simple and easy to use.
I love the watch app. It’s great for when I need to record stuff I’m likely to forget. Like when my lecturer gives me those golden tips... I just hit record and focus on the conversation rather than taking notes...
Makes me much more people focused.
Without over complicating the app I do wish I could colour code the audio notes so it’s easier to mark up and find later.

Excellent app. Would rather a simple slide to left to delete recordings. Just goes to show how good this app is if that’s the only small thing that bugs me.

I have used this app for a few years now. It is my absolute go to app; I use it every single day. It works great on my iPhone, my iPad and my Apple Watch. Wherever I am with a single tap on my Apple Watch I can make a note of anything that comes into my head and which would easily get forgotten. Once I get home I go to my iPhone or iPad and listen to each of the voice memos I’ve made and take the appropriate action.
This app is beautifully designed. It’s both simple and highly functional; a great combination.

The app is great. It has a lot of potential. Transcribing is almost flawless. The only problem I've got is editing the words transcribed when the recording is longer. The problem is, there isn’t a lot of space to edit long recordings. It is a nightmare moving around the text. Tweaking this will make a lot of difference to writers.

The aim was to have an app that would record conference calls and calls that need to be saved for later to transcribe.
I’ve used the app several times with my headphones on during conference calls, it only records my voice, which is pointless!
I wouldn’t recommend it at all!

I love the fact that it’s recording and there’s no beeps of funny screens to show. I know we should record people without their knowledge BUT sometimes it’s handy to do so to just cover yourself!

Can record your voice ok on Apple Watch or iPhone as long as no loud background noises. The transcribe feature is absolutely terrible. Over half the time it has transcribed the wrong words and it even masses words together that looks weird. The transcribe feature is a complete false advertisement and I am disappointed that Apple allows this to be on the App Store

I bought this app to record a eulogy that I was asked to give at a dear friend’s funeral but didn’t feel I could read live. Unable to try it out, I went by online reviews.
Yes, very easy to use and save in an easily transferable format but the recording quality was awful - so much background hiss that it rendered it unusable.
I finally downloaded Voice Record - a free app for iPads and recorded in much better quality.
This app was a complete waste of £4.95. Real shame because it’s functionality is excellent.

This app promises a lot but fails to deliver in the one thing I needed from it — transcription. My hope was that I could dictate short pieces of text, like blog posts or scenes from a book I am working on. Unfortunately it’s not up to the job.
Just Press Record is obviously designed for very short text snippets, probably no longer than a reminder, the sort of thing you might say to Alexa or Siri.
An example: I dictated a short blog post that popped into my mind before I went to bed. I didn’t want to forget about it, and having the phone transcribe it seemed like the perfect way to capture it quickly.
In the morning I set the app to transcribe the text. I took almost two hours (during which time I had to keep waking the device, because transcription stops when it auto locks), and drained a little more than 50% of the battery (and this with the speech-to-text engine downloaded, so no network traffic). All to provide fewer than 700 words, approximately one third of which bore no resemblance to what I actually dictated. Fixing the text by hand took longer than it would have taken to just type it out in the first place.
I know transcription is hard, and that the app uses Apple’s built-in engine to do the job, but they should really make it clearer that the feature is severely limited, and not really suitable for more than a dozen or so words dictated slowly and in perfect acoustic circumstances.

Brilliant little app. If you have an Apple Watch, this is essential. One tap on the Apple Watch (complication) and it’s recording away. The mic on the Apple Watch pics up everything. So useful for meetings or anywhere else you need to keep a record of events.
I love that it records on the watch, auto uploads to the iPhone and then uploads to iCloud! (Although watch to iPhone can take some prompting if it’s a big file).
A 40 minute recording was only 18mb. So so useful.

Finally, an app that lives up to its name. Just Press Record. That’s it. Nothing else. That’s all you need to do. Even my mum could handle this and she has problems even turning the TV on....
This recording app has saved me time and stress. It works especially well on the Apple Watch as well as my phone. I’m REALLY pleased with it and thoroughly recommend JUST PRESS RECORD.

The clue is in the name, you can Just Press Record.
If you need to make a quick and reliable recording then Just Press Record and this app will make a very good job of it on any device and keep everything you record in sync.
A feature set beyond that begins to impact upon app performance and reliability, therefore further processing is best done with a complimentary app.
All transcription is temperamental, especially Siri’s, so I wouldn’t bother with transcription unless it works for you.

This app just keeps getting better and better. It's at the point now where I wouldn't really get an Apple Watch if I couldn't have JPR! New features and bug squashes happen all the time; I swear you'll find endless uses for this app, even if you're not a musician/audio tech. But if you are I can assure you this app won't disappoint. I feel like they bribed me for the way I keep gushing over it, but the only "bribe" they made was this incredible app that I am so glad I paid the reasonable asking price for. My older review follows:
I was surprised to learn that there was no 1st party support for recording on Apple Watch.. and then I was surprised to learn that not all the watch 'recording' apps actually recorded locally on the watch and therefore would still be useful even if out of range of my iPhone. Once I saw that I was more than happy to pay for JPR and even though it's only rarely I need to record something I am always so glad I have it. The UI is super easy to use, it fits in with Apple's apps just like you want iOS/watchOS apps to do. And even before the update (which really locked things in) I never lost a recording or even had trouble getting them across from the watch. Since, it's just a dream app that really brings significant additional value to one of my favourite Apple devices, if only because its widdle face is so kerrrruute! Erm, where was I. Man good job nobody is recording this...

Wonderful to have a dictaphone via the Apple Watch however there is no edit or trimming anywhere to be seen which is big disappointment! Any thoughts of adding the feature?

As a deaf person I have found this app so handy. I just press record and am able to read what is being said. It doesn’t all get all words correctly but the few wrong ones are close enough for you to know what has been said. Brilliant !!
