Version 2.1.1
There haven't been any reviews of this for 3 years or more. Plus the developers, the fabulous TheCodingMonkeys, have tweaked it a couple of times in 2020 already, so 'One Button Travel' deserves at least one up-to-date review. Here's mine...
I've had this app installed for quite some time, but as I don't play many games, I hadn't ever got around to playing it for more than a couple of minutes. Well, I've finished it now, and I'm impressed.
To be clear, I'm pretty sure that I bought this due to my friends and I being long-term players of their EXCELLENT (and now sadly removed) Carcassonne game. THAT game was perfectly implemented, with no bugs that we ever found (I reported what I thought was a bug at one point, but they politely pointed out that I was wrong!), even after years of playing, so their attention-to-detail is exceptional.
'OBT' is no different. It's clever, detailed, and bug-free - at least in my perfectionist opinion. I thought I'd found a typo at one point - but quickly realised that was a plot device, and therefore intentional!
Obviously, no spoilers here. It's a medium-length, interesting, real-time, quirky, funny adventure. I highly recommend you put a little time into it, you won't be disappointed. It's certainly worth the current GBP 2.99 asking price for a few hours of fun. Just ignore the old, negative reviews found here!
Oh, and I played it on an iPhone, which worked perfectly. I plan to get an Apple Watch soon, and I suspect that this game would be even better on that - the Watch is probably the ideal medium for such a real-time, interactive game!
Overall, thanks and well done to TheCodingMonkeys!

Great app, needs more storyline

It's a great app, but needs more plot to keep us interested. Also no matter what you do you don't seem to be able to affect your fate much

Slow, happy to wait for responses but when I can't access them it's frustrating. Please fix so I can enjoy rest of the game.
Have now deleted game as still nothing is accessible. Don't buy it without improvement.

Sooo boring. It feels like your talking to a five year old. Characters aren't engaging. Storyline is... missing! I genuinely don't care if matey escapes the room or where the heck Mia went. It also seems to have lost some comedy or charm from the German translation to English. The gaps between 'interaction' are sporadic as well. And it's barely interaction when it does happen. After a while you definitely get the feeling you're on rails and your 'decisions' don't effect the arc of the story at all. Not come across a puzzle yet, just some annoying kid. I'll keep at it for now, but unless it kicks off sharpish, I won't be completing it.
Update: The game didn't improve. I have deleted it. The latest update allows u to skip the pauses between action. This was probably introduced to help the feedback relating to sporadic gameplay, however it just makes it a boring slog of reading and pointless interactions. Sorry developers, but the game is flawed at a level that can't be fixed with updates. It's not a good enough story to read like a book, and there's no puzzles to keep you entertained.

Boring. Poopy poopy poop. Not Good at all.

Really properly boring. So boring. Deleting the app was the best part. More fool me for paying for this tosh. If there was an award for the most boring thing ever... well you get the idea.

At first I found it very slow, but the more I played, the more I was intrigued. Think of this as a piece of fiction rather than a game. If you're expecting puzzles, you will be disappointed. Really enjoyed the storyline, will be interested to see the different permutations when I play it again.

This kind of game might not be for everybody, but it held my interest from start to finish. Concentrate on the story rather than the standard parameters of regular games, you'll soon be hooked into talking to your little buddy in the future 👍🏻

Slow-paced, but intriguing story

Very enjoyable interactive story, might be a little slow paced for some, but so far has me intrigued. I don't really want to elaborate much on the story, but I'm always looking forward to the next notification. Very slickly presented too with nice clean visual design and great music.

Bad bad and bad again.

Wow this really disappointing for 3 pounds. Boring convos. Not much of choices for convos.
Nice interface but lacks interaction wise.

Beautifully designed but very limited

The potential of this game is huge but it really feels like such a wasted opportunity. Filling the storyline with puzzles to solve would have been far more engaging. On the positive side of things, the visuals and UI are lovely.

Oh so slow. Have to wait ages till the next message. Infuriating and then all you get is a simple 2 choice option.

Like receiving a text stream from a millennial.

Imagine reading four lines of a book every couple of hours. That's pretty much what this 'game' is like. You get a very occasional chance to choose different actions, so it's like a poor 'Choose Your Own Adventure'. Overall this is barely interactive with no gameplay at all and quite a dull story.

Terribly boring!

Bought this on the strength of TheCodingMonkeys name and positive reviews elsewhere - but so far, I'm disappointed. I had expected an interactive fiction / puzzle adventure, but so far I have seen no puzzles and interaction is limited to choosing one of two dialogue options every few hours when my NPC compatriot deigns to talk to me. Perhaps it picks up after a few days, but so far I'm just not seeing the game here.

You've booked a trip - apparently, through time. But, it's not quite that simple.. and suddenly, you begin receiving messages from somebody in the future, warning you to cancel your trip. Of course, that's not so simple either. You're in occasional conversation with this mysterious scribe as they try to work out how to cancel your trip, sometimes offering advice on how they should proceed.
It's an unusual gameplay dynamic, with these brief conversations sometimes minutes, sometimes hours apart, making for a more realistic sense of progress. As such, it won't be for everyone, but I'm very pleased I bought this, and look forward to seeing what the developers come up with next.

Should've read the reviews!

Spent £2 on this game and all I'm doing is having a conversation with a computer. Wtaf?! 😒🤑
I should've read the reviews before I bought it!
It's very similar to "A Dark Room", yet there's more action in that one!

Waiting all the time for the app to reply. Just tapping replays to messages. This is really not worth the money. I want my money back
